Xpol:You're right. But she may not be careful enough to constantly take her ARVs in order to bring the viral load down to an undetectable level. That's the problem most of them have. She once told me she registered in a remote clinic so people around her won't notice. Due to this, her work schedule often clashed with her engagements with the clinic. She skips it most times |

naijapikin2:Those affected by HIV in the North are actually people who are naturally from Southern Nigeria. If State of origin is used to compile this list, some Northern States will have zero. |

It is concerning to see how some areas are being heavily affected by social and health-related issues. In my view, factors such as the breakdown of community values, risky lifestyles, prostitution, casual hook-up culture, and lack of accountability may be contributing to some of these problems. |

IAM4BAT4plus4:No it isn’t. Reason why the figures are low there is because of stigmatization and unwillingness to get tested. |

| Re: Number Of People Receiving Treatment For HIV In States In Nigeria (May 2026) by Xpol: 7:25pm On May 13 |
That's the main problem, in Nigeria settings you can't let people around you know you're HIV positive and that's how it is in most African countries except maybe SA that a girl can openly tell you she's positive. Many people are even afraid to eat in the same plate with them, once someone in the street knows unless the person relocate. Eriokanmi: |

Xpol:Yea, the stigmatisation is still evident here due to low infection rate, unlike SA where 1 out of every 10 persons is positive. The antihiv vaccine will be a great relief for those who are reckless with their sexual pursuit |

DesireV:Oga lets face it. Promiscuity is a MAJOR favor for the prevalence of HIV. Why are you trying to change the narrative? The correlation you are trying to draw between HIV and poverty is minimal. Benue with the highest prevalence is not the poorest state. What of FCT..what of rivers are they poor states? Promiscuity stands tall in the table of reasons for the prevalence of HIV. northerners try to make it seem like you are not promiscuous..on we know better. Beneath that hijab and burqa lies a body enmeshed in immorality and when I say northerners I am not talking religion I am talking about tje north in general including Muslims... Christians and trados. Stop make it seem as the prevalence of HIV in the north is as a result of poverty or PMTCT in general. Mind you I am from the north and I have stayed most of my life in the north so spit another narrative here. There is a high increase in sexual activities among northerners hence the increase in hiv prevalence. You can't run away from the truth however it hurts. |

Lukuluku69:Looking at it from a religious standpoint and the so called morals of the northerners, you'd see that it's mind blowing that they have such high numbers of invected people. |

Arkmanbuddy:Religious and moral standpoint of the Northerners as how? Look at the figures again and show us the "high numbers" of infected people again. You so not have any point with that submission unless you want to say Benue, Nassarawa, Abuja are Northerners besides the figures doesn't break it down as ro who amd who is carrying the virus. The Lagos figures for instance could be for any of the ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. 1. Benue: 195,305 2. Akwa Ibom: 158,201 3. Lagos: 135,918 4. Rivers: 90,055 5. Nasarawa: 65,996 6. FCT: 62,627 7. Kaduna: 58,576 8. Cross River: 57,765 9. Enugu: 55,478 10. Delta: 52,475 11. Taraba: 51,840 12. Abia: 50,038 13. Imo: 47,863 14. Plateau: 46,618 15. Anambra: 46,602 16. Adamawa: 42,074 17. Kano: 41,093 18. Kogi: 37,301 19. Oyo: 33,133 20. Niger: 33,057 21. Ogun: 31,822 22. Bauchi: 29,745 23. Edo: 29,256 24. Gombe: 28,037 25. Osun: 25,018 26. Borno: 24,527 27. Ondo: 22,455 28. Kebbi: 20,803 29. Bayelsa: 19,549 30. Katsina: 18,682 31. Ebonyi: 15,474 32. Kwara: 14,997 33. Jigawa: 14,302 34. Zamfara: 13,813 35. Ekiti: 12,356 36. Yobe: 10,716 37. IAM4BAT4plus4:Who be dis one? If you don’t have anything worthwhile to say why don’t you just keep quiet? The reason I don’t comment on most threads here is majorly because of people like you. I stated a fact based on my line of work and you’re here spewing jack. It is verifiable you know? Education and enlightenment isn’t hard but people like you take it for rocket science. Even to do ordinary Polio immunization in the north Nawa not to talk of hiv testing. Pack well abeg and stop displaying your ignorance |
