It is to do with the value of real estate

A 30,000 dollar real estate in Nigeria is valued say 200k dollars in South Africa.
Nigeria's per Capita income is less than 1k dollars while SA's is like 5k dollars.

A millionaire in SA in real estate is not worth 200k dollars in Nigeria

It is said that about a decade ago, Nigeria had about 15000 dollar millionaires.. but as of recent it has about 9000 dollar millionaires...all thanks to Apc govt devaluation of the naira and also a lot of millionaires have jappered

South Africa is the easiest place to make money in Africa and the most risky place to live without been robbed or molested by locals.

It isn't that difficult to do the actual counting because such people are visible and are known to banks. A man worth one million dollars in a second tier Nigerian city will have a visible business with monthly income well over ten million naira if all the funds are in the business and if the funds are in real estate, he will own at least 50 units of well finished three bed room flats. How many people like that do you know?
