What My Wife Did, Is This Wrong Or Its Nothing. by menaxe(op): 8:45pm On May 17
Something happened in my house this evening that’s been bothering me, and I’d like your honest advice.

My wife went out for a girls hangout. When she came back, she didn’t notice I was in the parking lot watching.

She called the gateman over, brought out her leg, and told him to remove her shoe. He took off the first canvas shoe, then the second. She didn’t notice I was there.

After he removed the shoes, she told him to take them to the cobbler for repair.

I just watched and didn’t say anything at the time. It looked to me like she was overusing the gateman, and it didn’t sit right with me.

Later, I called her aside and told her what she did was wrong but she said she didn’t know it was wrong and didn’t see the issue. I asked her what she meant by “it’s not wrong,” and she just repeated that she didn’t know.

Now I’m confused. I don’t know if I’m overreacting, overstepping, or making too much of it.

Nairalanders, please tell me honestly — is this wrong, or am I out of line here?

Thank you.

Women, very lazy gender.
You mean she can not remove her own shoes..
Be careful before she starts asking the gateman to remove her bra and undies

Hehe.... It's hard to really say something about that singular action. But some questions to understand:

1. Is she very bossy?
2. Does she treat the domestic staff rudely

Because, it's very weird other than to try to demean/belittle people would anyone ask a staff to take of their shoes...

Also, that she didn't see anything wrong with it, could mean that she's either:
A. Too carefree
B. Subject to questions 1 and 2 above

Don't tell her directly, get a video or skit that address the issue and tell her to watch it, then ask her what she learned from it. Then you can talk to her, but if you want to get the best result speak good of her in areas you know she is doing well and how you want her to add that to the list.

You are not overreacting sir. What she did was wrong and she cannot pretend not to know about it.

As a primary school kid or what...? shocked

Op don't overflog or make a fuss out of the issue. You already made your point by talking to her about it!
Re: What My Wife Did, Is This Wrong Or Its Nothing. by Axis313(m): 6:24am On May 18
That's very low and demeaning to the gateman.
In truth, she may not know it's wrong, some people are like that, just let her know that what she did is an abuse of her privilege as an employer
Did she think if the gateman have a choice,he will chose to be a gateman? No, everybody wants to be in position of authority. She finds herself in that position today, she should tread carefully.

You see most of those ladies including our mama they aren't different from kids oh, their rate of processing information for most of them is weak so if you want to achieve peace and ensure she changes it requires taking subtle approach but if what you want is chaos and wahala you can as well go and slap her or beat her, I think that is what you are suggesting right?

Divorce her ASAP, because she'll sleep with the gateman one day

She's a little power drunk.

Sometimes, when you don't have any power growing up and you suddenly come into power, it goes to your head a bit.

Wealthy people from nice backgrounds are actually nice to their staff. In Festac, they say "people wey sleep for night bus wake up in Lagos, na dem dey misbehave".

Treating your staff with decency is a must. You don't have to like them, but treat them with decency.

Nobody should be taking her shoes off when she's not King Charles of England or a Korean Chaebol from a Kdrama.

Of course it's wrong. She treated the man like a slave. Definitely don't get a househelp. If she can treat a gateman like that and says there's nothing wrong with her behaviour, I can't imagine how she will treat a househelp inside the house. Good people don't treat others like they're beneath them.

Don't stress your wife, allow her to enjoy her husband's money. But don't let them get too close, or she'll start fantasising something nasty

It's your home, deal with it.
When you are sleeping with your wife, do you call nigeria to come help you?
Bro, wake up and take charge of your home

Gbam. This is the best comment on this issue here so far.

Muhammed ali said i dont trust a person who is nice to me but rude to the waiter cos if the roles were reversed, he would be treated the same.

All in all, just try to work on her. And boy, you have WORK to do.

Peace.
