I stumbled on a post on this topic and I flashed back to my personal experience some years ago. So, let me start with mine. Mind you, I am now happily married with 3 children.

Some years ago I was doing strong-head chasing for this Kogi babe I met during NYSC. She relocated to Sokoto after camp. One Friday night around 11p.m., she called me on WhatsApp:
“Babe, I just dey miss you anyhow. If to say you dey here now…”

As Lagos boy with mumu love, I stood up from my bed in Surulere. Next thing, I was at Jibowu park. No toothbrush, no ATM card, just ₦18k and the hoodie I was wearing. I entered God is Good night bus to Sokoto. Sixteen hours journey o.

I didn’t even tell her I was coming. I wanted it to be a “romantic surprise”. I arrived Saturday afternoon, dusty, smelling like conductor’s armpit, and called her. She shouted: “Ah! You no serious! I just landed in Lagos this morning for my cousin’s wedding!”

Immediately, my brain reset. I stood under Sokoto sun for 10 minutes, calculating my life. I used my last ₦3k to buy fura da nono and sat at the park. Then, I took the next night bus back to Lagos on Sunday. Roughly 32 hours on the road total. She sent me “awww thanks for trying” with laughing emoji.

Till today, my wife still calls me, “Sokoto lover” because I told her about the experience... and NEPA took light the day I tried to explain myself.

A few years ago, while I was still in the university, I called my boyfriend's mother to report what her son did to me. She added his wife to the call. I never knew or suspected he was married. It was really a shameful experience for me.

That year Bro, I was paying my girl friend(fiance) 100k monthly, paid her house rent, bought her generator that can carry her AC and buy fuel every week whenever I bought mine, buy her clothes from time to time. I didn't receive shi shi through out the 2 years we dated. I didn't mind because it was a thing of pride for me to be taking care of my girl and all her needs, only thing this girl ever did for me was on my birthday she threw a surprise party for me and imvited family and friends of which I even footed half of the bill. Now that's on the financial side.

I was so in love with this girl I wasn't using my common sense. If we quarreled she would say she needed space and i wouldn hear from her for like 3 or 4 days. She would tell me I should stop coming to her place unannounced(I no gree for that one sha aa). Some weekends she would say she was going for an all girls indoor party. Some times it would be going to the club and I would even give her my car. Chai love is a mental disorder I swear. I paid for driving school. This girl invested literally zero into the relationship except her time and cooking which she doesn't even do all the time. When my eyes started to open was when her brother wanted to leave the country and this girl gave him 500k. I was shocked and the scale fell off my eyes. Then I had a small financial issue and I wasn't able to foot her bills as I used to, she couldn't bear it and told me she was travelling to another state to go stay with her cousin until I bounce back, when she came back I found sex lube in her bag. That was the final straw for me but I didn't wanna leave the r/ship without a replacement, 70% of the love died and she could sense it, i just couldn't leave because I have invested so much in her. I started a relationship with another girl without her knowing and after a few weeks me and my first girl had a small misunderstanding and as usual she said she needed space. Person wey no know say I don't already move on. After a week she came to make up I no gree I told her make she still dey her space because me I don quit the r/ship. She cried and cried and begged and begged, but it was too late.

It's easy for any man that was raised by a father who provided everything and didn't allow his wife work to provide for his woman. I mumu sha aa but it's only guys that weren't raised by a real man or from poor homes that would think what I did was too extreme.

Everyman has at one point in their life done foolish things for a girl. Hypocrites will laugh and judge but in secret guys like that do worse.
