From this angle, Okoye couldn't have done much
Not true. Even from that angle the ball showed sign of tilting to his left outside the 18. He didn't make any move. He jumped from same spot he was when the ball was kicked.

Two steps to the left and he's saving that, and retiring Nwabali
Now he has made himself a placeholder till Nwabali returns

bro this top goal post angle/view make the player seem close to box 18….from that side view which is the true view, the distance far for all those curler curler to beat the goal keeper

Even Arthur Okonkwo will catch that ball.
Okoye is another Undercover Francis Uzoho.
Yes, he is, and this is why he is a first-choice goalkeeper in a midtable Serie A team, and big Serie A teams are making moves for him. He is worse than Uzoho, and a white man is paying him millions of dollars because he loved how terrible this Black African goalkeeper is, so he decided out of his good heart to be paying him millions of dollars a year to be terrible. I just showed the goal to a lot of my non-Nigerian friends, and not a single one blamed Maduka Okoye for that goal. They all agreed it would have taken an absolute world-class save, a save of the month/season contender, to have been able to save that bullet. Maduka Okoye is a very good, highly rated goalkeeper who kept us in the lead with the double world-class saves he made prior to conceding that late equalizer. Some people have an agenda towards this young man, and it is irritating. There is not a goalkeeper coach or person that watches football and understands football that will be blaming Maduka Okoye for that goal.

this onuachy self , ball watching. He should have closed up the gap or at least attacked that guy.

You are wrong. The trajectory of the ball rendered his position useless.

He initially followed the ball to his right before it changed trajectory to his left. That first step to his right was not lack of positioning but due to the way the ball changed it's course midair.
Imo the first step to the right was to plant his right feet to dive left.

The course changed, yes but he saw it and only misjudged how far to his left it will go.

It's not a goal to beat him up with. This and the Russia game already has settled his quality for me.

very irritating bro and when you try saying the truth they tag it being emotional and only trying to defend the lad because you like him

This would have been a simple save, swerving shot or not
He just needed to step to the left
The distance from the kicker was enough to adjust his positioning before the ball landed

Well balanced and sound point of view. Not someone saying it will beat any keeper. He'll learn from it.

Not so fast bro. Two truths can co-exist.

1. The players should have closed down the polish player to prevent him from taking that shot

and

2. Okoye should be saving that shot.

Why didn't anyone close up on that polish player to prevent him from taking the shot?

They were all backing away and gave him so much space abi dem no dey score from that kind distance again?

Disappointed .
Thank you for this,

Plastic fans plenty here, they are busy blaming Okoye
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by SolaFide(m): 10:55pm On Jun 03
No, not even the top 10 goalkeepers in the world reliably save well-hit shots from outside the box.
No blame is on Maduka Okoye.
That shot would have beaten any goalkeeper.

Aside talent, you also need luck to excel in any career path.
Okoye have been so unlucky most times he plays for the Super Eagles.

I wished Arthur Okonkwo faced the baptism of fire from the fireworks of poland's attackers today. Dude loves pulling saves too. His day and time will come. He is a top talent too.

No goalkeeper is catching that. I don’t care what anyone will say about that.. That’s a swerve ball for Christ sake, it changed direction and he still managed to go for it. Those blaming him should just come out and say you never liked him. It doesn’t even make sense anymore, always waiting for him to make a blunder so they can say we told you, like Nwabali never committed blunder since he started manning the post. This has to stop.

NFF do that guy strong thing. Missed 3 consecutive world cup.
He stood a better chance of making world cup than with the 3 lions

Yes. That first plant of his right leg was reflexive as he saw the ball so he just pushed his body from that momentum from that leg to jump to the left.

I hate that it came at the last minute but it's not something to beat him with

Still in the top 3 moments... but that Poland belter is surely number 1. Lol

Okoye made fine stops today but his positioning and anticipation for that polish 2nd goal (#1 moment of the friendly) was simply below par. For a Serie A GK, he was meant to do better.

You cannot blame the defence for that strike. Anyone doing so does not know ball. Would the defence leave their positions, bypass their midfield and go press a player positioned deep in midfield close to the center circle? Answer is no.

'Cant blame the midfield either nor the forwards because every outfield player had a passing lane covered or was set up to mark the very next pass. A pass that never came because someone decided to hit a long ranger from way out in midfield which Okoye was highly expected to see all the way. It was a lapse and a reminder of why Nwabali will always remain in the #1 convo as long as he stays unretired.

But in all, Okoye had a decent game. The last min blip pain shaa.

TheSuperNerd:
Maduka Okoye's double reflex save is easily gonna win top 3 moments of the match.

Onuachu just shat on his ratings with the falling down and leaving the ball during a challenge when he has not heard a whistle in his favor 😑
