It's ridiculous for anyone to criticize Okoye for conceding that long range monster of a shot which curled in flight. It wasn't an R2 curler that a goalkeeper could easily predict would land in the far post and then make a dive for it. It was a straight shot which curled mid air like a 2010 World Cup Jabulani ball. The only goalkeeper I can think of that may have a chance (very slight chance) of saving that blistering shot is prime Hugo Lloris and even he would struggle against that. |

Them go blame Okoye now for that goal o! Wtf? That was a banger goal! If there's anyone to blame for that goal, it should be Rafiu Durosinmi and Paul Onuachu. They stopped pressing. You think Éric Chelle is a madman for saying his team should always press? It was 5 seconds to the end of the match. Just press for the last minute. Osimhen go dey pitch person go dey arrange ball to fire shot? Last defender? Y'all are just not fair to that guy. 7 saves in that match which included a crazy double save. If na Nwabali dey post tonight, we concede 3 or 4, because he's definitely conceding that double save chance AND the long-ranger. Thank God una know say I be big Nwabali fan. Haba nau! Haba! |

And just like that.. Nigeria's RB options expand further. - Ola Aina - Bright Osayi Samuel - Ryan Alebiosu - Abdullahi Bewene Some Prospects still untested/uncapped - Samuel Isife - Femi Seriki - Daniel Oyegoke (needs switch). |

Pidginwhisper:It's just annoying at this point. Every single national team match this guy plays, they want him to be the same size with the goal posts. He should have been at the right He should be saving that He was far from home He was no way home Wtf? |

Mujtahida:God bless you. One person say he make the goal "look like one extraordinary goal". If them born any of your players well, make them attempt the same shot from the same distance make e dey on target. If Onyedika scored the one he had in front of goal, clean point-blank chance and he didn't send the ball to the gods, we'll not be arguing about this last minute equalizer. |

Nwabali got his hits despite consistent fine performances at major tournaments leading us to a final and semis with multiple cleansheets that puts him on the threshold of surpassing Enyeama's afcon cleansheets record. I also hit Nwabali when he overdid certain things in goal. Uzoho got his hits and knocks too including hits for the banger from Zimbabwe in the early phase of the 2026 WCQs. Okoye, great shot stopping today but absolutely no way is he to be exempted from that strike that travelled all the way from Oshodi to Lekki Phase 2. His reaction time, anticipation and positioning were all muddled up. Almost like his concentration in that moment switched off. He takes his own fair hit too. Anyone saying otherwise is just putting up a false sense of justice for Okoye. He should work on his reaction time and anticipation of long range strikes. Nwabali makes saves vs them look routine. And I strongly disagree with your last paragraph on inform Afcon-Nwabali conceeding 3-4 today because even hard evidence does not support it. Have you suddenly forgotten Nwabali's good reflexes and 1v1 shot stoppings? It is your way of perhaps placating the Maduka Okoye fans. Okoye is in my family name but I am never name-biased on Okoye. Nwabali have had his fair share of 1v1s and reflex saves times and again. Dont let your defence for Okoye in that moment where he should have done better make you sh*t on Nwabali. Lastly... Nothing much Onuachu and Durosinmi could do. Wisniewski had already let fly before even any quicker reaction would have attempted closing him down. He is a CB and came from way deep and fired, trying his luck. Ndidi gestured for the FWs to stay compact and try cover the lanes... they did what most FWs in that moment of the game will do. Protect the space/block the lanes behind and gently try to close up whatever gap in front.... but The Adrenaline of Wisniewski was on a high and he knew time was no longer on their side... so he let fly and luckily he caught Okoye snoozing in concentration lapse and poor anticipation. This does not take away Okoye's shot stopping moments especially the double save which were lovely but let us see H and call it H if we are to consistently call A to G, as A to G indeed. Let Okoye work on his anticipation and reaction time to long rangers. Finito. BankyGee: |

It was the fault of defenders defending deep in their own half to not have stopped an opposition defender from deep towards the space close to the center circle, from hitting that belter. Wonderful. Just wonderful. Mujtahida: |

Okoye made brilliant saves that kept us in the game. Yes, Nwabali has an edge over Okoye when concerns are on anticipation and aerial claims, and therefore has the greater potential of saving that thunderbolt of a strike that flew to the goalpost meters outside the 18 yard box, but it doesn't make Nwabali the better goalkeeper. Between the two, whoever starts in a match, depends on the coach, and many modern coaches will prefer Okoye. Okoye is better at ball distribution, and can pull saves of the ball that will have Nwabali struggling because he has a more dynamic balance. It appears like the two goalkeepers are built differently for the kind of saves they can make, but I think Okoye edges Nwabali in the overall. |

Okoye vs Iran... fine showing. I found absolutely zero faults. A few tried to blame the Iran goal on him but that one was too obvious. Blaming him there would most certainly be agenda. Okoye was good all through. Okoye was not in goal vs Jordan. Also not in goal for The Unity Cup. Now Okoye vs Poland... multiple stops. 1v1 after Zaidu's madness... double save moment. He was brilliant... but one moment of lapse will not be overlooked when it is not agenda driven. Okoye should learn and he will be better for it. Becoming Number 1 is not by sentiments... it is when you show up in moments like that 90+5 Misniewski rocket. Learn Okoye. Nwabali also had much to prove before he truly got recognised and accepted as Number 1. |

TheSuperNerd:Everybody get their opinions sha. Okoye had no faults in that goal. Poor anticipation and he knew where the ball was going twice in his double save. Poor anticipation and he knew where Lewandowski would want to put the ball after Zaidu Sanusi set him up. A whole Lewandowski. Make everybody turn goalkeeper overnight na. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 1:20am On Jun 04 |
It was poor anticipation, poor reaction time and muddled up positioning for Misniewski's strike. Not for the entire game. If it was, I will not call him brilliant in his shot stopping. Also, You dont call his double save, anticipation either. That was more to do with his reflexes. And yes, I have been a GK too. Never went pro but did enough as a sportsman up to the level I had to leave things to focus solely on my medical path. Hardly any position I did not play from secondary to University level apart from CDM. So I do not speak theoretically but of deep understanding of the role. Okoye should learn or he will keep conceeding those kind of strikes that Nwabali mostly make routine saves out of. Disrespecting Nwabali to make a point for Okoye is a low. BankyGee: |

Tochukwu Nnadi's new coach at Marseille will be Bruno Genesio, former coach at Lille who managed Ayoub Bouaddi and other Lille youngsters. I want to believe he will find Nnadi very pleasurable to work with. https://x.com/i/status/2062119188957647190

M7even:You mean this same Paul Scholes shot that hit the post, Enyeama never got his hand on it. The way some of you talk make it seem like Okoye is Onana. It might surprise you to know that Nwabali hasn't faced any European team as SE goalkeeper, only Mexico with home based side where he conceded 4 and Jamaica are the only non African sides he has faced as SE goalkeeper, I mean against players that can hammer such on-target shots from outside the 18 yard box and long distances. Arsenal's goalkeeper is one of the best in the world at the moment but you should go and watch the goal he conceded against Cunha and Szoboslai You all need to chill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_5T5nB2tyU |

Karlovich:Enyeama saved that shot. It was ranked as one of the best saves in that 2002 world cup. Mehn some of you Nigerians love to lie and twist narratives for selfish gain. That goal that Okoye conceeded was not his fault. It was onuachu who caused that goal for not pressing but that does not mean you have to drag other people down. |

I can't really blame Okoye for that goal...if anything, I'd have like to see Ndidi press out and put pressure on the ball. |
