Good evening, nairalanders. Please does anyone know how much it is for someone to enroll in a driving school in Lagos? How many hours a day would the tutoring last? How long it would take to perfect my driving? And is it possible for someone with a 9-5 job learn driving in a driving school?

Depends on your money. Most driving school is 15-30 minutes per session depends on your money. Let say 30 minutes each day for 2 weeks. Is okay to learn automatic. But you will still be amateur. For your hand to be very strong or consider a pro it will takes years of constant driving.

I paid 20k in 2022 at a driving school in yaba for 6 weeks.

It would definitely be much more because fuel has increased.

The man teaching me and three other guys was very surprised. He kept asking if I had driven one before and I told him no.

The only problem I had that took some correction was that I was not putting my feet firmly on the gas pad... But I was handling that car like I had been driving for at least 5 years


The truth is I have been driving for more than 10 years in my mind before that day

Depends on your seriousness, mental alertness and confidence. I would say 2 to 4 weeks is okay. 30mins to 1 hour every day

The first day I shot behind the wheels of a car and drove it for 200 meters the band teaching me and three other guys was very surprised. He kept asking me if I have doing work before and I told him no. The only problem I had that lasted me sometime to correct was that I was not within my feet on the gas paddle correctly.. too lightly. But I was handling that car like I had been driving for at least 5 years

Na mind and focus, I did my first highway quite early and started with manual transmission 🤷🏿.

It's good anyways to know how to drive o cos the situation of the country now will require you to have that skill too

Learning road signs no be mind. Go to a driving school. Thank God companies force drivers to attend proper driving schools first before getting employed.

I will employ a private driver to teach me. I’ve done the theory thrice and hardly done enough practicals. I’m budgeting about 30K at most.

I'm not saying going to driving school is not good , but as for me I never went to driving school when I began driving my car and you can't tell me that the millions of people that are driving all went to driving school. As for the road signs, I leant many of them online and have not had any issues with my driving skills neither bashed my car except when it got scratch by a danfo driver due to his reckless driving. All in all, driving school is important for learning the fundamentals of driving, but you will need courage and confident when driving for 10hrs continous on a 2 lane road with trailers coming from the other lane at 120km/hr

Never did. And I own 3 cars now.

I am in my 30s now. Soon it will be 20 years without driving school

Don't worry yourself at all.

One last thing.

Hardly will you see a better driver on Earth than the smugglers of Seme border town. They are called firewar. The trouble from semi border to mile 2 in Lagos several times each day and run at speed over 100 km an hour over a terrible highway full of tire busting potholes and customs patrols... They beat all of them at high speed

But guess what these guys can hardly speak English talk less of driving school
