He is spiritualy naive
ogascomax:
Some of you think that prayer is all about comfortable life. While Jesus was on earth he prayed a lot. Prayer is a fellowship with God. Scripture says pray without ceasing. Prayer has nothing to do with your need first or your challenges. Prayer should become a character of a Christian. It's a core of your Christian life.

It reminds me of a work colleague who always prayed that God will right his girlfriend from cheating continuously. I didn’t know which way to tell him that it was a waste of manpower.
Lol blame pastors who brainwashed them into being like that.

Well, you are correct but the reality of many Nigerian Christians contradicts this and you can't blame them.

Why?

Needs
Needs
Needs

When you're praying that God should touch the heart of Nepa to bring light among other sundry nonsense.

Even the person preaching is in Need of the basics and what do you expect them to preach.

This is not to justify all the "my belly called me into ministry" people but one things leads to another. Unfortunately so!
You made me 😂 with the prayer for God for NEPA to bring light. If I listen to some people praying it's like a comic relief. It's because they don't know the essence and primary reason for prayer. Some of the pastor's teaching them don't know too.
The society have configured them that way.
But that does not also mean that we can't still ask God for some certain things but prayer itself was not necessarily because of our needs and troubles. Rather a means for fellowship. The good part is that as you fellowship with God other things will be answered without you even praying about them because God knows our needs.

Your statement:

Nobody will go to church in Nigeria if basic amenities are available in Nigerians for free. The churches used the opportunity to scam their gullible one, they have been shouting witches witches but witches refused to finish in the country.

So why are there thousands of churches filled up? Or when videos of that one show, your brain dey interprete am as motivational show?
You choose to be faithless, your choice, your life. But billions doing very well still believe in God.
I dont think you have information about how Christians and the churches are reducing in the world, Church attendance in nigeria does not necessarily reflect global trends. Christianity has declined in some Western nations, it continues to grow in part of Nigeria because of the hardship of the country and the pastor and church used the opportunity to scam their gullible one.

The more the church increased in Nigeria the more the poverty rate increase, the more the pastors shouting witches and wizard, the more the witches are increasing. The more the churches shouting fire the more the fire in Nigeria

oh sorry, because the poverty rate in Nigeria that make people seek for miracle in the churches is deceiving you that people are many in the churches

Still not making sense. Over 10 million people above poverty in Nigeria and living well. Why are they going to church?
I don't blame you. The church you mistakenly found yourself in was all about witches, wizards and prosperity.
Maybe you should study the reason for Christianity in the first place.

I went on twitter make you come see insult on top someone comments. Most Nigerians just believe that travelling abroad is like an escape velocity. Why are they not talking about the same White people that good numbers of them take their own lives due to depression. Those guys still go a lot there. I have friends in UK especially that speaks of challenges that many Nigerians also experienced. Some are too ashame to come back home. Even the way we pray for grace and favour even in Europe and USA they pray the same too. The rate of homelessness in USA is far more than Nigeria. The number is massive. Shelters everywhere and some people want to whine us here.
It's not all green for all that depart at the end of the day.
Finally, some people don't even understand the essence of prayer and fellowship with God that is why once they are comfortable they abandoned God.
With what is going on in America now: the racial abuse, gun violence, anti_immigration raids, transgenderism, sexual perversion, gay and lesbian rights, etc.

I wonder how one can live comfortably in such a place?

Even if I have the opportunity to live there, I won't joke with my relationship with God...in His presence is fullness of joy.

Anybody born in Nigeria that spent all his years in Nigeria deserves to be given a free pass to paradise because he has already passed through his own hell fire in Nigeria.

One of the ways Nigeria can get better is to unbundle Nigeria into small countries comprising of people that share the same ethnicity, culture, tradition, religious belief and dialect/language. This will reduce internal friction like tribal division, religious intolerance and ethnic sabotage within the government.

It will help Nigerians manage their small nations.

The current structure of Nigeria gives room for dangerous tribalism by leaders like can be seen being practiced by President Tinubu today and it will continue to cause dissatisfaction from the other tribes who feel left out. Dividing Nigeria into smaller nations will also make it easier for a typical Nigerian black man to manage and control.

This forceful union called Nigeria where some people use tribalism and religious division to cause trouble in Nigeria for their selfish gainst can never allow Nigeria to reach its potentials.

Alternatively, Nigeria can be restructured completely and the power vested in Federal government removed and handed over to regions and states. President focuses on external affairs and national security (external threats). Without this, Nigeria will continue to struggle without a headway, sadly
You already have states that have been unbundled, what good has that done any of you?

It shows your level of Christianity, if even you're a Christian. I don't pray to God because of what I want Him to do for me. He has already provided for all that(1 Corinthians 3:21 KJV) Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
I just worship Him for who He is and what He has already done for me. He's my Dad and we have a relationship.

If your prayers are based on your needs you will stop praying when your needs are met,,
That is why at times God doesn't answer some prayers....
Re: Since I Moved To America, I No Longer Pray For 20 Minutes – Oyindamola by Lovit(m): 2:44pm On Jun 11
Prayer is still important regardless

It is just that you no more pray for NEPA not to take light, or supply you your 3 square meal grin

Prayer helps a Christian to develop a closer relationship with God, to ask for his mercy, guidance, even provisions too

it is just that here in Africa, things are so bad that we look up to God for what we should be able to provide for ourselves

When important topics like this is being discussed, what children like you who don't have the mental capacity to contribute positively ought to do is to respectfully ask questions instead of throwing tantrums and trying to insult your elders.

Now listen, there is what is called exclusive list in Nigeria's government....a lot of things are on the exclusive list of the federal government, meaning that only the federal government through the President have the power and authority to decide those things on exclusive list.

For instance, security is on the exclusive list of the federal government and that is why your state Governors have very limited power to even control the security situation in their own state. Based on the federal government exclusive list, a state Governor does not even have the constitutional authority to control or order the Commissioner of Police in his own state, the Commissioner of Police takes orders from the President only through the Inspector General of Police...so State Governor is powerless in that aspect, and if he decides to form a state vigilante group through his state house of assembly, based on the exclusive list, he has no power to arm them until he get clearance from the President through the IG and National Security Adviser.

You come to transportation, foreign transportation by sea and land is also on the exclusive list of the federal government, meaning that no state Governor can start to build a seaport without getting authorization and approval from the federal government. Same applies to international airport.

You come to revenue....your states have no power to control their revenue except revenues from levies, etc....but no state have the power to manage the natural and mineral resources in the state, the federal government manages that and distribute with their skewed sharing formula. This alone is the one thing holding Nigeria down as a nation, it is one of the reasons many state Governors are lazy to think outside the box on how to generate revenue for their state....it is the reason insecurity has lingered in Nigeria....it is the reason for the dangerous tribalism and power grab politics being played by APC today.....so next time be respectful and ask to learn okay?

Because the US is a prosperous country. So the level of giving amongst the few that go to church is very high.

Over 00% or Nigerians attend church/mosque weekly. OTOH, only about 20% of Americans do. As the OP said, Nigerians go to church to pray for the basics that should have been provided by the crooked Government.

The reason why religion has so much grip on people here is because of systemic failure... We pray for employment cos of unemployment, pray for safety cos of bad roads and terrible security, we pray for provision because of corruption and systemic failure.... All these things are basic human right......

Parents don't indoctrinate religion as much as pastors, unlike parents, religion is a business for pastors and other religious leaders, thier earnings depends on it especially when the followers are following blindly like sheep, parents won't always put effort in making sure you believe in something, some parents are even neutral, but every religious leader wants you to believe in them and thier belief by all means, because thier income depends on it, na why church plenty pass schools and hospitals in Nigeria, its a business.

Absolute Rubbish, for the Social Media -gaulible audiences !
There are so many Pentecostal Churches all around America, that they 'fervently Pray, Serving the Lord ' and how did you know that your Journey to USA and Other Places Outside Nigeria is not due to Past Prayers and Faithful Activities of yours and even your Parents - who wants you to Succeed in Life 🧬⁉️🥺
Did you also know that Ten Commandments is Returning to ALL AMERICAN Schools and thanks to President Trump On this !
Be careful with your Statement there,so that you are not Deported by the government ,because of going against the Christian Values Of Not Praying.
In America - they Pray And Work Hard and Work Smartly To Be Number 1 in the World 🌎.
God Bless America.
God Bless President Trump.

“Since I moved to America, I no longer pray for 20 minutes” – Man compares life abroad to Nigeria

A Nigerian man has stirred reactions online after sharing how relocating to America changed his perspective on prayer, jobs, and governance.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), he claimed that many of the things people spend hours praying and fasting for in Africa have already been provided through effective systems and government structures in developed countries.

“Since I came to America, I no longer pray for 10 minutes, 20 minutes. What am I praying for? The things that I used to pray back home in Africa for God to provide for me, I came to Yankee and saw that the government and the system have already provided those things for people.”

According to him, many Africans have been conditioned to pray for basic necessities because governments have failed to provide opportunities and essential services for citizens.

He recalled how he used to spend time praying and fasting for employment after graduating from university, only to discover later that many of the jobs people prayed for were either unavailable or reserved for those with political connections.

“I could remember when I was back home in Nigeria, those days after I graduated, I would pray 30 minutes, 40 minutes, fasting to get jobs.

And I came to Yankee and realized that I was wasting my time back home in Nigeria praying for some things. First of all, we pray to get jobs back home in Africa, and those jobs are not really there.”

The man’s comments have continued to spark debate online, with some agreeing with his views on governance and opportunity, while others maintained that prayer remain important regardless of location.

One user wrote, “He’s saying the truth. Good governance solves many problems.”

Another added, “Prayer is still important no matter where you live.”
I'm dying of lafta as i read this post.

All Nigerians, and that includes the tinubu supporters (yes, ask them about cost reflective tarrifs and fees in universites, and many of them will get angry)...believe that government exists to share them money and to build things for them.

That is why on this site, you will see people saying government should build houses for every nigerian, connect them to mains water and electricity, and provide good roads for every nook and crany of this country, and make petrol cheap at 40 naira per liter, all on a budget of 40 billion dollars...which is less than what Harvard spends in one year, and just four times what New York city spends in one year. One city for America.

I mean, most Nairalanders believe on this site that 40 billion dolalrs can provide the good life for 230 million people.

You heard me right. All we just have to do is fight corruption.

Someone was even telling me that 1 billion dollars budget for our police , most of whom are poorly armed, poorly renumerated, etc...is enough for them to fight against well armed bandits, terroists, fulani herdsmen, millitia, etc....(many of the bandits and herdsmen have gooten training form people who fought America in Iraq and Afghanistan, and ,e specially regarding fulanis...Ghaddafi had an African legion. Many of the members were fulani. When he was removed, guess where those guys went).

The good things he is enjoying in America, he is enjoying them because millions of Americans pay taxes, at very high rates, for the privilege. The good universites for example that he go enjoy, Americans pay very high fees for them to be world class..most take loans (and for the minimum wage gang, an American living on minimum wage can never afford fees for his children's university education on mininum wage..na to borrow...even for the community college, or the children forget about college and get menial jobs like cleaner and washing dishes at Macdonald..lol).

Nigerians do not want to pay taxes, even the tinubu tax reform still keeps rates too low, and most of the rich and the poor are not going to pay...its the minority that work for formal companies and the government that would pay the tax on behalf of the rest of us...lol. Nigerians do not want to pay municipal tax, income tax, even special levies, because 'we are poor'. Nigerians do not want to pay full price for electricity and water supply because 'we are poor' , and so on and so forth. And Nigerians want the government to increase minimum wage to over 3 million naira monthly, forgetting that our budget is not able to cover such an increase without printing money, which is part of what got us in this mess we are in now. Americans do all that, that is why they have world class public services...yet in Nigeria we cry, they go loot am.

Yes, forgetting that the reason why the developed world is develiped is that it was very easy to mobilize and remove their tinubus in the past because they were not getting returns for their tax.

Nigerians do not want to do the 3 d's work, they want to work in an office and be big people. Nigerians laugh at -apprenticies, people in vocational and technical education, yet you need those people in large numbers to build a prosperous economy. Nigerians do not want to invest in local production, they want to import and import and live in a big house with imported stuff filling it.

A funny story from things fall apart. Unoka, Okonkwo's father, went to consult the gods to see why he was not prospering. The priestess of the shrine stopped him midsentence and told him to go and work hard like a man. God has given us the answer to our prayers for help...it is pay a cost reflective tarrif, pay taxes, mobilize and make your leaders work harder, don't vote people like tinubu, don't look for easy way out, be productive , etc etc.

But we want to be like the Saudis. We want Saudi life on one twentieth of what the Saudis get for a population not up to one quarter of ours. And we are suprised when we find it difficult going and when the resultant debt comes in.

Vote out tinubu o, but think about why we have had these problems since independence. The same complaints we are complaining now have been repeated and repeated since 1960, if not before.

Infact, I think that the only reasons Nigerians vote, be it for tinubu, atiku, even Obi, is so that they can chop. And even if we split this country, it would be the same thing, same issue. We have to leave our chop mentailty first and face reality. sad..especially me.
