Because the US is a prosperous country. So the level of giving amongst the few that go to church is very high.

Over 00% or Nigerians attend church/mosque weekly. OTOH, only about 20% of Americans do. As the OP said, Nigerians go to church to pray for the basics that should have been provided by the crooked Government.
Dude, you have no freaking idea what you're talking about. Where did you get this nonsense stats from?

Nigerians go to pray for breakthrough most times, how does the government provide that? Let's even assume they pray for cars, houses, good jobs, a good partner, etc... Do the government provide those for free anywhere in the world? Y'all just always need a reason to bash Nigeria, and you have a constitutional right to freedom of speech just the same way I have a constitutional right to call out your BS.

You are not far from truth however good governance is an answered prayer. Don't forget they once prayed like Nigerians.
Anyways righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people. Emphasis is on 'righteousness " doing the right things- justice, fairness, etc not religious observance such as singing, clapping and shouting as in our churches nor is it stopping even on the highways to ensure you pray 5 times a day as a devout Muslim , yet we take bribe, rig elections and install mediocrity, avarice and greed. Africans are religious but not godly

Anybody born in Nigeria that spent all his years in Nigeria deserves to be given a free pass to paradise because he has already passed through his own hell fire in Nigeria.

One of the ways Nigeria can get better is to unbundle Nigeria into small countries comprising of people that share the same ethnicity, culture, tradition, religious belief and dialect/language. This will reduce internal friction like tribal division, religious intolerance and ethnic sabotage within the government.

It will help Nigerians manage their small nations.

The current structure of Nigeria gives room for dangerous tribalism by leaders like can be seen being practiced by President Tinubu today and it will continue to cause dissatisfaction from the other tribes who feel left out. Dividing Nigeria into smaller nations will also make it easier for a typical Nigerian black man to manage and control.

This forceful union called Nigeria where some people use tribalism and religious division to cause trouble in Nigeria for their selfish gainst can never allow Nigeria to reach its potentials.

Alternatively, Nigeria can be restructured completely and the power vested in Federal government removed and handed over to regions and states. President focuses on external affairs and national security (external threats). Without this, Nigeria will continue to struggle without a headway, sadly
Ticket to paradise ke, you have started again ooooooooo with your savage response ooooooooo mucheche Hahaha 😂

We only see the pictures of the people abroad, but behind the pictures, the struggle to survive, the bills, the nature of job, the pressure etc no one knows.

[quote author=EmmyMaestro post=139682996]“Since I moved to America, I no longer pray for 20 minutes” – Man compares life abroad to Nigeria

A Nigerian man has stirred reactions online after sharing how relocating to America changed his perspective on prayer, jobs, and governance.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), he claimed that many of the things people spend hours praying and fasting for in Africa have already been provided through effective systems and government structures in developed countries.

“Since I came to America, I no longer pray for 10 minutes, 20 minutes. What am I praying for? The things that I used to pray back home in Africa for God to provide for me, I came to Yankee and saw that the government and the system have already provided those things for people.”

According to him, many Africans have been conditioned to pray for basic necessities because governments have failed to provide opportunities and essential services for citizens.

He recalled how he used to spend time praying and fasting for employment after graduating from university, only to discover later that many of the jobs people prayed for were either unavailable or reserved for those with political connections.

“I could remember when I was back home in Nigeria, those days after I graduated, I would pray 30 minutes, 40 minutes, fasting to get jobs.

And I came to Yankee and realized that I was wasting my time back home in Nigeria praying for some things. First of all, we pray to get jobs back home in Africa, and those jobs are not really there.”

The man’s comments have continued to spark debate online, with some agreeing with his views on governance and opportunity, while others maintained that prayer remain important regardless of location.

One user wrote, “He’s saying the truth. Good governance solves many problems.”

Another added, “Prayer is still important no matter where you live.”

US government never provided for free. That was an exaggeration. You still have to pay to access those services.

Nigeria has the resources and human capital to be one of the best but our politicians across all parties have messed us up. It is not a rocket science, we need a functional template which we will follow to the letters. We need proven technocrats who will overhaul our educational system. It's a mess. We need to invest more in informal sectors but the worst of us lead the best of us

Oyindamola only told on himself .

His relationship with God and prayers is based only on the material things of life.

But I can't blame him, the sheer deprivation that an average Nigerian goes through is enough to corrupt one spiritually without them even knowing it.

Oga. Suit yourself.

Many of you think prayer is all about for material things and physical comfort.

Grow up.

Even generals in the US army lead great prayer sessions REGULARLY in front lines.

Not just for protection from enemy fire. You'd be surprised some reasons for prayer.

Topics like
"I want to meet Jesus if I die in battle"...

That alone, Dem go lead prayer for at least 45 minutes.

Lolzzzzz 🤣

Nigeria is a country where you things are abnormal

Nigeria has crude oil, but suffering from crude oil resources

Nigeria has hydro, gas, coal yet no electricity

Nigeria is surrounded by bodies of water, yet no portable water in homes

Nigeria has climatic, soil & vegetation conditions that favour farming of various crops yet food availability is poor

So

You must pray in nigeria

And government will do many things in US

True. But the right attitude to prayer is communicating with God, not necessarily for basic needs as we do in Nigeria, but prayer shows our dependency on the almighty God regardless of the location. For example, do you know the purpose why God gave you the opportunity to be in America and be comfortable, etc. Think about it

Use your brain. More people go to church in the US, Russia and Spain than in Nigeria. You need enlightenment. Church is not the cause of your misery.

It is spiritually poor folks like you and the poster that travel abroad and start spewing ignorance. Nor be everybody dey practice beggi beggi Christianity. Some of us are materially comfortable, yet we follow CHRIST faithfully. Knowing JESUS is the real deal. In fact if you are attending church because of a job, you are a fake worshipper.

That has always been my argument. Someone born and bred in Nigeria should not go to hellfire. It is grossly unfair.

These are the people who leave their hovels, travel to glitzy parts of "yankee", take pictures and pretend they've made it.

What he isn't telling his fans is the cold hard reality: taxes pay for the amenities, and therefore one can enjoy good roads and nice parks but can barely afford 3 meals a day, rent, utilities and transport without at least 2 jobs grinding like mad on 60 hour work weeks consuming 40% of annual income.
The same happens to many Nigerians in Nigeria.
Re: Since I Moved To America, I No Longer Pray For 20 Minutes – Oyindamola by Gerrard59(m): 4:08am On Jun 12
In fact, I will say you judge a Nigerian's true religious/church going nature when s/he lives in a developed country for a long time. How consistently does the person pray? How many times does the person go to church? What and what church activities does the person actively participate in? How many midnight prayers, crusades and revival services does the person attend? How consistent is the person with tithing?

How can you say that the same happens in Nigeria when our taxes are not employing well paid civil servants to provide government services and public utilities like:

- water and electricity supply,
- law and order with security,
- free education for all children
- free basic healthcare for all residents
- good roads with covered drains that are cleaned regularly
- nice parks and green spaces
- comfortable and reliable public transport

Oga, don't forget to pray for your spiritual life as well as interceding for others. Do not allow over enjoyment to take you away from destiny. Life is vanity!

You still did not get the message, he's not saying we should not pray but here in Nigeria or Africa, we pray most often because of needs not truly a genuine relationship, of course in Yankee u can always pray to God for life and good health but not disturbing God for nepa to bring light, praying rain should not fall so water won't enter Ur house or disrupt the bad road leading to Ur house... I mean there are many important things to talk to God about, praying and disturbing God for something ordinarily the Govt should have provided is where the gentleman is emphasizing on. Get the message straight

ogascomax:
Some of you think that prayer is all about comfortable life. While Jesus was on earth he prayed a lot. Prayer is a fellowship with God. Scripture says pray without ceasing. Prayer has nothing to do with your need first or your challenges. Prayer should become a character of a Christian. It's a core of your Christian life.

the only time you pray is when in difficulty or needing something from God, then it means you don’t love God in the first place 💯📌

Many people in Nigeria seek God mostly or Soley because of what they need.

They're not even conscious of it anymore...
But I don't blame us...like he rightly said your prayer points reduce when you leave Nigeria.

However,it should also decrease your devotion.

Yes but you can't blame them because what they need are those things they are denied of. I agree that you should not forget devotion etc but Nigeria overdoes it. We fill up social time with religious devotion that's why it looks like we are more religious than others. How about acting godly in what we do? Isn't that a way of remembering God rather than being a baddie to God's creation and a good prayer man in religious houses? Many at times, people want to maintain the social status of being adjudged moral that's why they pray. Now that they are free abroad, you can see who they really are. No smokescreen.
