I guess this also put Tonali out of the picture, unless we will ditch Fernandes for Tonali and get a proper DM..
Yes. After getting Ederson I think we should only get one out of Fernandes, Tonali, Scott. That is my order of preference for the 3.

The other player should be a more defensively minded player like Tchouameni, Garner, etc.

I would have gone Tchouameni, Garner, and Fernandes/Tonali and not gone for Ederson but that ship has sailed.

Tchouameni, Garner, Mainoo, Fernandes OR Tchouameni, Garner, Mainoo, Tonali is league challenging midfield group IMO.

Okay Mateus Fernandes is worth £80m and United should rap this deal up. He will be priced at £150m if his was an English Player. If will are able to get Tonali too for less than £100m and a proper DM then we will win EPL next season...

While I agree that we should be buying elite players even if they’re expensive, I don’t think now is the time for that.

We’re in a phase of squad building where lavish outlays on a single player can be a costly mistake that will take years to correct. The only scenario where those kinds of expenses make sense is when they’re the last piece that completes the puzzle.
My brother, this is the crucial moment INEOS should buying elite players. Carrick has a huge opportunity now to close the gap on the top teams. All the top six managers have changed managers in the last few months apart from Arteta(a serial bottler).

United have to give Carrick a chance here. If a talent like Anderson is available in the market, United should be showing real ambition to get him - to make a statement.
You just know that lad is destined for greatness. If United miss him & he moves to any of United’s direct rivals, it will be difficult to win the PL.

The thing is most players you think are elites are just above average at best. The difference is a good manager, system, and motivation (if the players are ready to give their all to the club).

Some players you think are elite under pep might flop and become mid under Amorim. We have seen examples here at united where players we thought were finished suddenly became better because Carricks system suits them and they were more motivated.

A squad that is made of above average players, with two or three elite players like bruno are capable of winning anything as long as the system suits them, and they are motivated.
This is the lie you people tell yourselves. The highest spending team usually wins the league. You might get one odd team winning it once in 10 years but I don’t rely on miracles.

Arteta has spent €1 billion. His victory came at a huge price, it’s not by accident.

Pep spent €2 billion. His dominance came at a very huge price, it’s not an accident.

You cannot win the PL with above average players and 3 elite players when your rivals have more than 3 elite players in your squad. If one of your elite players get injured(fixture congestion), your title dreams are over.

United need to be serious. It’s been 13 years without a PL title.

you speak like you are talking about prime Pogba
Anderson is a good player but not one that we cant afford to pass on, especially at that price

I understand that he could be a great buy.

But I think you should look at the other side as well. What if he doesn’t click on as expected? We’ve made mistakes like this in the past so many times. Now is the time for caution. It’ll be crystal clear when the time comes for us to buy a £100m player.

stats dont tell the whole story
he is a good player, definitely not 100m+ good
with the amount of reinforcements we need in midfield it will be unwise to spend that amount on one player

Brighton slapped €120m on Baleba around this time last year, what calculus did INEOS consult that told them Anderson would cost less than Baleba?

Anderson is going to the WC.
Anderson will start for England.

Anderson was chosen ahead of European title winning players like Palmer & Foden.

Anderson was chosen ahead of the all conquering, European winning Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Somehow, INEOS still thought he would cost £50m? grin

Afrodoc, I hope we can get that Bouaddi guy. I checked and discovered that we have actually been following him for some time now, as you mentioned.

Yeah, i have been watching his clips since last year when we were first linked to him. I believe Arsenal, PSG , and a few other clubs have been following him more closely than us.

Our scouts seem to be okay but it's like we have too many people involved in the decision-making process at the management level and end up dragging our feet due to paralysis by analysis.

We could have gotten Garner for cheap earlier in the season instead of allowing him to extend his contract with Everton. With the current hyperinflation this summer a Garner level talent in the EPL is going for 60m-70m.

Bouaddi could have been 40m earlier this year or before the World Cup. By the time this tournament ends they might be asking for 80m.

Lille will be licking their lips because a lot of clubs will be chasing him now, which means they'll likely be in a bidding war. I am not even sure we are going to follow up on our interest with a bid. Most likely scenario is that he ends up at PSG or Madrid.

Yeah, i don't think we are in for him. It is risky to depend on too many young players in one section. If we get him and Fernandes for instance, we would have Mainoo (21), Fernandes (22), guiding an 18-19yr old who would be going through adjustment issues.

For an 18yr old his composure and elegance are off the charts. He and Mainoo share the same weakness though, which is progressive passing.

Since we still have Bruno, we can make do with them. One thing is certain: with them, you are guaranteed control in midfield, and that should give Bruno the freedom to attack.

Moving forward, I think that Amad should be coached to be a Bruno understudy for the time being. We also have Cunha, who can play through the middle, although he won't provide us with the same level of creativity that Bruno guarantees. However, his ability to drive into space with the ball will help free up spaces in the wings.

How shall we breathe now when some people's worst nightmare, the one that has lived rent free in their kom kom heads just landed something saucy at AC MILAN

Where are the detractors? Come and line up and decide amongst unaselves who dies first

Somebody should drag that Jamiu_whatever to lead this procession of wailers and tell him to dress them in sackclothes and ashes.

So much delusion in this thread it's such a wonder

I agree.

This post is from 3 years

Amad is developing nicely and has impressed both at RW and No10. I am thinking he might be useful as Bruno's deputy next season, cos i prefer him there as he is just not very explosive on the wing.

You better calm down and wait to see if 343 would work at Milan 😁, Milan doesn't pamper coaches like United and fans will not accept that ''we will suffer'' nonsense.....
