Key Takeaways from the Expanded DataThe Polish Disparity is the Lowest (2.6x): Polish Members of Parliament (the Sejm) have the lowest income disparity on this list. Their salaries are closely linked to national economic indexes, meaning an MP makes just under three times what a minimum wage worker makes.Germany's Strict But Dual System (7.3x): Members of the German Bundestag are paid a high base salary (€11,833), and they receive a flat, tax-free monthly allowance of over €5,000 to cover residential costs in Berlin. However, they are legally barred from receiving any hidden bonuses or extra corporate cash. The United States Structural Divide (11.5x): The US Federal minimum wage has been frozen at $7.25/hour since 2009, while Congress members make a fixed $174,000 per year. While many US states have raised their local minimum wages to $15+ (cutting the gap down to 6x), workers in states tied to the federal floor face a wider 11.5x disparity.Nigeria Remains the Extreme Outlier (300x): While lawmakers in the US, UK, and Germany receive millions in office allowances (the US Member's Representational Allowance), that money is paid directly to suppliers and staff, not the politician. In Nigeria, the direct payment of massive "running costs" directly into the personal accounts of lawmakers cements its spot as the widest minimum-wage-to-politician gap among these major economies.

If the 150k monthly feeding story is true, it only reveals how depraved the level of corruption in the military.

Tinubu is powerless in stopping such corruption for fear of a coup.

Mass protests never achieved anything good. I remembered the last major END-SARS "PROTESTS"

It was highjacked by miscreants, innocent people and businesses lost their goods and shops to looters...
Innocent people got killed. Public Infrastructures, luxurious buses, terminals were burnt! Whyhuh
I don't support public protests anymore, the society is now full of insecurity everywhere. Social media is a great tool to expose and force positive changes instead of bickering only.
God help Nigeria
Social media alone won't cut it. One protest will do what a million advocacy posts can't. We need to force the hands of politicians to work for the people otherwise they will keep working for themselves. Peaceful but adamant protest

And one day we were discussing, one thing lead to another, and the topic comes up.
So I discovered that one of the Malawi soldier who was a Ssgt, and that his salary was even higher than that of the school deputy Commandant who was a Colonel.

Bro

You and the person you quoted should stop defending bad govt and bad policies .

Thier policies of subsidies removal, naira floating (significant devaluation of naira) and brazen reckless multiple taxation have signicantly destroyed the purchasing power of naira! It is now the lowest in the world.

On top of this there is lack of fiscal responsibility and complete lack of accountability resulting in systemic cancerous corruption.

Bro no comparison and nothing to defend here
For your info the Ghana you say people should compare are where most of our youth are now japaing with joy.
Of they ask u know to tell us example of multiple taxation since 2023 u can't defend it.Nigeria is passing through economic challenges and if u see the numbers coming out since the past 8 months,it's a matter of fact the economy is on a path of irreversible economic growth and development.
Re: Monthly Salary Of Nigerian Junior Rank Soldiers Compared To Ghana & SA by Israel5(m): 12:07pm On Jun 18
South Korea spends 4500 won on a soldier's meal.
4500 x3 = 13,500 won per day.

Mind you, 4500 won is equivalent to 4500 naira.
That is how much sane climes value a soldiers health.

How can a Nigerian soldier survive on 1,500 per meal? And the meal is even looking like nonsense o.

People don’t understand the impact of all the unviable road projects and rail projects APC have been borrowing to do since 2015 … they would keep making us poorer as a people by devaluing naira

They tell you naira is falling because we import too much , lol we don’t even import Enough

If you look at Nigeria trade balance since 2015 it’s positive 70% of the years and positive cumulatively

So why then is naira falling ? Infrastructure done with borrow money …. How ?

You borrow money to build a road that can’t generate money to pay back , when it’s time to service debt you print money enter the forex market and boom naira supply increase dollar supply remain same

In naira Nigerians earn far more than 2015 but it’s worth far less

I always urge Nigerians go and watch obi n osibanjo debate in 2019 that’s where APC policy is exposed and where Obi won me over 100%

Listen ,research and learn

Soon if we continue like this minimum wage would be 1 million but would be worth less than 70k today
Obi that did not invest in infrastructure yet poverty still went up under his tenure? How prosperous did obi leave anambra? What major production is anambra known for today that generates revenue not just for anambra but for Nigeria?

You guys know absolutely nothing about economics and development.

Dubai and uae that invested their oil windfall heavily in infrastructure and tourism you think they were stupid?
But here yo are saying apc is wasting money on critical infrastructure.

If other administration had done what they were supposed to instead of wasting money , apc won't need to borrow to develop infrastructure.

You are correct 💯

The security chiefs are worst. They don't pay salaries and allowances to soldiers on time.We have seen videos of soldiers killing snakes etc before they can eat, no portable water ! On Nigerian soil ! wheread bandits get food and supplies dropped for them in the forests.
Soldiers can't talk or show their plight. They're arrested, court marshalled or jailed/ killed.... The citizens have to stand up for their soldiers because they are there fighting our battles despite the challenges they face... Police too. Call them corrupt but are they well paid?
stand up ke? Na them go still teargas u.

I hope I have this time

There is a balance in governance called revenue to expenditure ratio. Governments expenditure are generally divided into two recurrent expenditure , this are the yearly repeated expenses like salaries and cost of running governments .Then you have capital expenditure this is for projects.

For a nation to be viable revenue must be greater than recurrent expenditure then the extra is what you use for capital projects

Countries borrow and when they do it increase’s recurrent expenditure via debt servicing
So it only makes sense to bro and do something that would increase revenue if not it kills the government fiscal standing

So when you borrow 1 billion dollars to do a wonderful road it adds 50 million dollars debt services per year to our expenses

Now can the road generate 50 million dollars ? No
So when it’s time to pay we print 70 billion naira send to banks to get dollars

Alternative ?
1 billion dollars loan, instead of roads

I call all the pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria
I want Nigerian pharmaceutical companies to expand and dominate Africa

Here is a 1 billion dollars available to you at 7.5% yearly you can Acces up to 100 million dollars

They take this money invest build factories
You take them on bilateral meetings to iron out foreign local laws to make sure they succeed

They create more jobs by producing more
They make more profit for pay more tax
They pay the loan interest plus extra 2.5 % extra this can cover for those who fail

You can then continue doing this till revenue is greater than recurrent expenditure then the extra you use for roads and other infrastructure

Note this is a very simplified version of a very complex subject

South Africa is good for comparison not Ghana. The Nigerian salary has a better purchasing power than that of Ghana. Things are more expensive in Ghana than Nigeria.
