When FIFA released the World rankings and the SuperFalcons retained the 36th position , I saw many people online saying we deserved to be ranked higher, we have been on this 32 - 36th position for a long time , that is just because we are not playing high profile friendly games, if you don’t play or win people higher than you, how do you expect to gain more points, the. Blame goes to NFF, I don’t believe we should be having friendly with any Africa team after the WAFCON in preparation for the World Cup.

No disrespect to them.

If NFF are serious we should always be in top 20 in world ranking.....right now if NFF are serious.. from 15th to 30th they should find 2 or 3 teams for falcons to play ...if we win all the matches it will help us avoid tough group at the world cup..... playing japan or USA doesn't help us in the ranking because we always lose

It is not as straightforward as it seems.

Friendlies are typically funded by host nations, sport promoters (who recoup investments via ticket sales and sponsorships) or an agreement between competing teams too split the cost. Top nations like the US, Canada, England and Japan enjoy the most funding in the women's football space, so they are able to bare the cost of their opposition team during friendlies. Randy Waldrum knowing the ins and outs of these programs took advantage of his influence and network to get us friendlies with these calibre of opposition. You'll notice it appears we were almost always playing USA and Canada for friendlies or invitational tournaments.


Nations in the 15th to 30th ranking aren't nations that typically have enough funding the bare the cost of friendlies. Nigeria is also obviously too poor to host them too. So a friendly between nations in this ranking category is more difficult to achieve than one with top nations. It's why you'll notice NFF for the last few windows has resorted to hosting West African nations, and we may see more of this moving forward except the NFF gets to work.

Still deserves their call ups especially in the aspect of offering experience to the younger ones and having a blend of Youth and experience.

And again even some of the younger players he keeps calling doesn’t even deserve to be in the team…

How do you invite the likes of Kafayat, Sikiratu, Ilivieda and Josephine Mathias ahead of the likes of Suliat Abideen, Emmanuel Favour, Flourish Sabastine etc??

I think her Social Media presence have also given her the room to improve and get better…

Will love to see her in the WAFCON Squad as 3rd Choice since she’s currently the best goalkeeper in the league.. Training with Nnadozie and Comfort Erhabor will certainly make her get better..
