Tonali and Fernandez Is what they promised us

Now Tottenham will lineup with a midfield3 of tonali. Maddison and Fernandez.

God

Van dear ven. Porro.. Spence and van heka

The only weak link on paper is their injury prone striker..

I'm just imagining them going for Greenwood.. den omor
This is why some United fans didn’t want Carrick to get the job. It’s not like they don’t love Carrick, it’s because they know he won’t be able to confront INEOS for reinforcements like a proper manager.

De Zerbi must have looked at Tottenham’s board in the eye and told them there must be signings before he put pen to paper. He’s a proper manager and most of his wishes would be respected.

Carrick is too happy to have the job. He will never complain no matter the caliber of players INEOS sign for him and this can only end in a disaster.

The results Carrick got last season was mostly because he had one competition to play per week. He could afford to play the same team for most parts.

He will not get the same luxury next season.

Amorim and board signed players that helped Carrick campaign last season.Pray he( Carrick) do the same ( our matches will be more) otherwise it won't be funny.A yes sir coach dnt always end well.Ole was a classical example
A club that was almost relegated last season and won't be playing in champion league are doing good signings bcoz a coach that knows what he is doing is at helms of affairs.Hope Carrick won't learn the way

Unless you want us to focus only on non-EPL players.

When we were being fleeced and targeted by other clubs it was a disgrace but this situation is a little different.

Like I predicted, the Anderson deal has reset the market for EPL players (esp midfielders ) for this summer.

If we want to spend 60m on a midfielder it’s either we look outside the EPL or we go for a player much worse than Fernandes or an older player/soon out of contract player.

Newcastle are said to be asking for 100m pounds for Tonali.

All EPL clubs are experiencing the same issue. Yesterday’s price is not today’s price.

I will be patient and wait for the window to end before making a judgement but I am suspecting it will be another 1 step forward and 2 steps backward situation.
if the EPL teams are christening insanity under the guise of naming a price for their midfielders, there's nothing wrong shopping outside.

the best performers post-Ferguson era for Man United have mostly been from outside the league anyways.
this guy could go on to become Xavi Hernandez. cool we will agree that he's one that got away, but even if he was signed and offered such wages what will the board offer him on renewal three years from now, assuming he actually becomes Xavi?
and what if he proves to just be another body, how do we move him on? he's less than 22.

if we do not look too far into the future, what will be the effect of this on the squad?
it is a different atmosphere signing a Casemiro for big bucks. the squad can respect that.
why should Mainoo sit on his current wages? why should Bruno? these are at least 5x the player in ability and game dues. back to back relegation slumps but he's expected to rouse the mentality of the Spurs collection? now we are having comparisons with stat charts to Roy Keane. really? what is this? I wish them well of course, but please.

it is baffling as I've see meltdowns on fans' social media channels over this guy.
fs what's he done in the game??

even £100m Tonali, why and for what? his age, what else? he's the weakest link in that Newcastle's midfield judging by the last season. I'm absolutely amazed.

I understand your point of view but I am just stating the facts in ground. I hope the club has a good plan on how to improve be the midfield via scouting hidden gems or buying from outside the EPL.

If they think they will get any good EPL midfielder for a reasonable fee then they will be shocked to the bone.

Comparing Prime Roy Keane to a 21 year old player who has gone through relegation twice with Soton and West Ham and is probably on a hat trick of relegations with Spurs is amusing.
United have been taken to the cleaners from big money transfers for mediocre players several times since Sir Alex retired. Names like Memphis Depay,Martial,Lukaku, Pogba(twice),Jadon Sancho,Angel di Maria,Antony,Fred,Bastian Schweinsteiger,Henrikh Mikhitaryan,Eric Bailly and Alexis Sanchez have been signed for big money fees and in the end had no interest of the club at heart. They were flops and virtually felt like the club was taken as donkeys by agents and the players. They were only after money and could care less about the club history or culture.
United were ready to match the £85 million for Mateus Fernandes but insisted on a staggered payment which was rejected by the players representatives and the selling club West Ham. So in the end it was obvious that the player was after immediate monetary advantage.
United have probably dodged a bullet here but we should know better by the end of the new season.
I am absolutely confident that United management have other irons in the fire but are very much in their rights to refuse to be drawn into another mindless and silly transfer war. If they have their targets and have a way they are ready to carry out their transfer business, then they are entitled to do things their own way. The end result which is to win trophies is the means.

We spent money without purpose. It's not about paying money. There was no plan.

Buying pogba for example, who needs a Pirlo or kante like player to partner in the midfield but having McTom and Fred in midfield, is lack of planning.

We have ederson now, Maino, the next step is to get one solid guy irrespective of the money, then maybe promote an academy player or buy one prospect. That's a plan.
Understandable.
and the way we've conducted our recent transfers show there's a plan at squad development.
but there's no guarantee Matheus Fernandes will be the solid guy. when put on scale, he's got no antecedent and the club probably evaluated the cons and in my view, made a sensible choice.
this would have amounted to spending "solid" guy money on a prospect.
it's not really by the age. if we are putting a big fee on Yamal I don't think any fan will bat an eyelid.
like everything though, time will tell if it was sensible or not.

I guess Carrick didn't rate Hackney that good to push for his signing, i just hope it won't be another case of us missing out on a good player for cheap and then pay crazy money to sign him from Everton years later.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by TrebleChamp(m): 5:19pm On Jul 02
Tottenham is building something in their midfield, Tonali for £100m shocked. Time will tell if this signings were worth the huge fee. Tottenham is my second favourite team in the EPL so i wish them a good season below United...
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Goosethetruth(m): 5:28pm On Jul 02
Spurs have escaped relegation two times in a row. They could be third time lucky this season. It is not to just sign players. It is the balance of the team. From past experience Roberto de Zerbi is a loose canon and a ticking time bomb. A total Russian roulette gamble.I bet he walks out on Spurs midway through his 5 year contract over one mundane issue or the other.

And it is the same toxic fans criticising the caution of the management not to sign players for astronomical fees which they do not deserve that will start calling the management out if the player signed is a flop and a disaster. Signing any football player is a risk. So risks need to be calculated properly. Matheus Fernandes is NOT worth £85 million in my book without any reservations.
Already some of them are calling the new signing Ederson,as Fred Mark 2 without seeing him play but relying on edited highlights.
Already in this world cup we have seen the poor and erratic tactical knowledge of recommended coaches hyped up by Internet fans on Nairaland, such as Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel. Very average and tactically deficient coaches that do not know how to break down low blocks. Just being hyped because they are Germans or because they performed in a two horse Bundesliga. I personally would take the decisions of INEOS and Michael Carrick over any Manchester United fan on an Internet blog in Nigeria!

Severally, you have gone bonkers and berserk on these threads criticising decent players like Dorgu as if you have a hidden agenda against the guy. No matter how well the guy plays! There are even some toxic fans wishing career ending injuries on the best player in the club for their personal agenda. What madness and insanity! Please we are about to embark on a new season. We don't need a agenda driven cognitive dissonance on our players.

INEOS dodged the £100m fantasy fee and we applauded them all year. They’ve applied that caution to a relegation‑scrapping Matheus Fernandes, and now some fans are sulking because reality doesn’t match their hype.

The guy lives in an entirely self imagined universe, totally out of touch with reality.
Although I admit he is entitled to his alternate reality and it is his right to exist in his multiverse of absurdity,he should keep my moniker out of his insan1ty.
The guy disappears from the thread once he has no access to his mummy's mobile phone, then he appears out of nowhere once the poor lady misplaces her phone,to post like a drunken sailor totally off point. A total nut job.

There is NO WAY in any universe that a relegation specialist like Mateus Fernandes is worth £85 million except one of madness.
He is not a bad player but I repeat he is not exceptional. United dodged a dangerous bullet in refusing to get into a bidding war with those lunatics at Tottenham.
By the end of the season, fans will realise that United and Carrick dodged a bullet just like Rory Delap in refusing to pay that crazy and abnormal money for an average player who wanted to put the club over a barrel and perform a rear entry with no vaseline!

I’m a bit frustrated by the slow transfer movement. Carrick deserves real backing...especially after dragging us to stability.

However, backing doesn’t mean handing out inflated fees to prove ambition. We shouldn’t be coerced into paying tourist‑tax for anyone.Every transfer is a gamble; the job is to mitigate risk, not pretend it doesn’t exist.

The Tonalis, Fernandes' etc all came from other leagues. Our scouts should do their jobs abeg.
