Craziest off-season ever. Celtics got fleeced badly. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 12:49pm On Jul 02 |
A40:You are choosing to apply your position from only the player’s POV. The Celtics have accommodated JB. The Celtics are renowned for accommodating, protecting and keeping issues about their players under wraps despite how powerful the Celtics media is. From “The Truth’s” stabbing incident to Ime Udoka’s issue. Despite how the NBA see’s the Cs, we take care of our own. Trade speculations are nothing new to NBA players and we know this. Every player knows they are the trading block so I am not understanding this angu. When JT was out and Infact after he returned and our playoff run ended, there were legitimate conversations about trading JT. The Sixers with Embiid? Hahahaha.. People that celebrated like they won a ring after finally beating us.. We shall see is all I will say about that. |

If this is true that your team's FO thought Derrick White had a better season than Jaylen Brown then your team is not just cooked they are fried Maybe your Celtics accommodated guys in the past but they did not do so for Jaylen Brown. Hell what did they even do for Ime? They fired him over a consensual affair. That don't sound like covering for to me Back to JB. What was his crime? Can you specifically point to anything JB did that brought the reputation of the Celtics to negative press. Was he breaking any laws? Was he cursing anybody in management? All that man said was it was his best season because of the adversity the team faced and that everyone thought it was a lost season with a team of misfit toys. The man was on a Twitch stream not in a strip club with guns making it rain on them heauxs. The uncomfortable truth is your Celtics have not treated JB like the franchise player that he has rightly proven to be. There's no rule that says he and JT cannot be the face of the Celtics. He's been your most durable and available player. You can't dangle him as trade bait over and over and expect him to just be quiet about it. Every player will not respond positively to that. Make no mistake about it. This is as bad as the Luka/AD trade. They beat the Celtics without Jaylen Brown and now you're gifting them arguably your best player. This means they don't even need to rely on Embiid as much anymore. You have made your biggest opponents title contenders. I know you will not agree in the open but deep down you know this is an absolutely horrendous trade |

Roland17:I wont be shocked either. He never fully embraced Celtics or Boston, even after the ring. There is just something about JB, he is kind of abrasive in a very low-key way. I dont know what the reason would be, but pre and post contract and championship, guy man moves like a quiet volcano. Frankly I am surprised Celtics stayed with him this long. Im hoping Im wrong, that he does the right thing, speaks well of Boston and Celtics and moves on like a professional should. Well sha, I look forward to seeing my two hated teams beat each other silly come playoffs next year. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 5:04pm On Jul 02 |
A40:Attitude is important anywhere you work, and definitely in corporate America. And I dont think JB cared enough to at least try. Regardless of how corporate America tries to butter you, you will know what they think by what they pay you. They did good by your boy |

Roland17:In all, I see you are hyper loyal to your Celtics and you dont care much about your players. I levied that accusation when Jrue was traded. I am doing so again. Y'all final MVP? For real? Draymond Greene is FARRRR WORSE than JB and the GSW is still holding him. I dont care about franchises, I never did. But my players, I love them till death. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by greypencils: 7:03pm On Jul 02 |
A40:Meeennn! I am still trying to wrap my head around this meeen. I cant. Will MJ be MJ if he wasnt MJ? MJ was cocky meeen and the bulls never threw him under the bus. I never gave a shit about Celtics. Now I definitely dont give a shit. They traded the one person I liked on that team. |

birdman:In a league Tobias Harris has made over $300m I think JB would have been Gucci regardless. They did not do him a favor. He was paid his rightful dough nau as a lottery pick that brought you a Chip and at worst was your second best player Now to this attitude. Tell me what is JB's offense. I am still waiting for any Celtics FO defender to show me what JB has done wrong. Was he late to practice? DUI? Fighting coaches and teammates? DV? I'm still trying to find out the exact nature of his offense and maybe I can see your point. I am open to new information but if the Warriors can stand behind a nut job like Draymond Green. Then what has JB done that made him trade fodder every other year? And why do you think he should just take it lying down |
| Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 12:49am On Jul 03 |
greypencils:He's a really intelligent brother. Is that the crime? That he should be a Yesman like JT? The irony is all teams need a combination of both types of players. You need the cool head and the hot head to harmonize and win Anyway all that is history. I hope nuking their title contention opportunity was worth it |
| Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 1:52pm On Jul 03 |
A40:Warriors are not Celtics. Cut coat according to your organization. And he better take it lying down, he is an employee, and needs to remember somebody is writing the check. May God give the young man common sense to know which battles to pick. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by greypencils: 4:00pm On Jul 03 |
Fans are crashing out over the idiocy of trading JB. Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, move. Twist it anyhow you want it, It's still stupid. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/18qCpkYxSU/ |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 4:47pm On Jul 03 |
birdman:I have chosen to not engage any further on this topic before e turn another thing for this thread or present like I hold any iota of grudge or animosity against JB. I wish him all the best though. People don’t understand the dynamics of organizations they find themselves in. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 6:39pm On Jul 03 |
birdman:Unfortunately for the Celtics he just so happens to be a top 15 player in his field in the middle of his prime. He does not have to take anything lying down. He has leverage. The day he will lose it will come. That day is not today Like the great American Philosopher DMX would say. "You better buss that if you gon pull that" If you're going to keep shopping him for trades then do it and live with the results |
| Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 6:44pm On Jul 03 |
Roland17:We be guys. E no fit turn anything. I'm speaking from the player angle. The amount of smear campaign I've seen on Jaylen Brown these past few days is ridiculous. Even the Grizzlies did not do that with Ja Morant who was causing real problems, not even Draymond Green. He was the longest tenured Celtic. For almost half a decade if not more. He deserved better treatment I don't normally go above and beyond to side with players but this JB own is different. It's not his fault he's a highly intelligent brother with an opinion and performances to back it up |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Afromentalist: 7:12pm On Jul 03 |
A40:Nothing but facts here. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 10:30pm On Jul 03 |
greypencils:Respectfully, you are not in any position to define my fandom with the Celtics, neither is it open to your interpretation, especially as it relates to players that represent the club. If your loyalty and fandom is to the players that represent your team, that’s you and your warriors; it doesn’t have to a consensus or a generalized approach to fandom. I am in no position to teach you how to support your team, so please don’t do same with me. You don’t have to love the Celtics, I don’t give 2s about it. Several HOFs and championships have come to Boston. We did not stumble on being the most successful franchise. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 10:36pm On Jul 03 |
A40:This path was inevitable. Anyone could have seen it from afar. JB needs to have his own team and he isn’t getting that with the Sixers; so what’s all the noise about being the face of the Celtics? He isn’t usurping Maxey neither is he even going to be a Robin with the Sixers! So what did he exactly gain? There is no smear campaign here. If you know the city of Boston and the Celtics, you should know the Boston media are ruthless when it comes to the team. The team is sacred and bigger than any player. JB is respected and adored in the city, I should know better than most, irrespective of whatever the media wants to spin. Most Celtics fans hurt when we lose great players. We have historically shown love and respect to our former players and JB won’t be different. Y’all need to learn basketball doesn’t end on the court! |

Roland17:Aye Aye captain! JB will do me the honor on his return to the garden. ![]() |
| Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 1:07am On Jul 04 |
Roland17:Well to be fair you guys have always tried to trade him at every turn so it's only normal that he would want his own team. Remember his first contract extension didn't go smoothly either so this beef did not start today Could it be that he doesn't want to be the #1 and just wanted to be heard and treated as an equal to JT? The Sixers did not draft him so I doubt he has the expectation of it being his own team. Make no mistake about today as we speak Jaylen Brown is the best player on the Sixers and if they are serious about winning they will follow his lead. Maxey has not done anything and Embiid is Embiid. If JB is not the best or second best player on their team they are bleeped I don't doubt the Celtics fans are upset about the trade, I've seen their crash outs everywhere. You saw the message he penned to the fans and all. I am positive they are not happy he is leaving The issue is the Celtics FO have not treated JB like I've seen players with his level of production and accomplishment get treated by other teams so either he's right and his beef is legit or he's crazy and has some kind of mental disorder. Either way your guess is as good as mine |
| Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 3:51am On Jul 04 |
Roland17:Agreed. I actually like the guy, to come out of ATL and be well spoken and level headed, all props all day. I wish him the best as well, I just dont want to see pops on these interviews stirring waters or making his son have to vocalize what needs to stay low key. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 3:58am On Jul 04 |
A40:I keep trying to tell you, see those off hand interviews he does stirs waters in the same way it did for other athletes like Mohammed Ali, etc. If you are an entertainer/sports guy and you decide to play in the activist space, you likely take more shots than even a badly behaved team mate. Especially when you start naming names and places. Those shots come disguised with other issues, but the primary push is certain folk you named. Im not saying its right or wrong, its just what it is and I personally don't think he wants or should want all that smoke, but Im probably wrong. I wish him the best, just let the game do your talk back and revenge for you. Dont make personal attacks on GM, city or team, however tempting. I say it because when he is in front of a mic, with the right crowd, brother gets going. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 5:55am On Jul 04 |
birdman:I have no problem with guys like him. Everybody is not going to toe the line and just shut up and have that cookie cutter image. He's not breaking any laws on or off the court. He's just speaking on what he has experienced thus far. He was being honest and giving context and then you have paid parrots and goofballs like Stephen A talking a whole load of nonsense. All his videos he's not attacked anyone, not attacked the city. Nothing Compare to James Harden that literally called Daryl Morey a liar in China and where is the Daryl Morey today? Fired while Harden is still in the league Incompetent GMs or dishonest ones should not be let off the hook (I'm not saying Stevens is) Now I won't put JB in the level of Ali, nor will I put any modern athlete on that level. It's easy to be an activist today when you have nothing to lose. I don't really agree that players should just be happy with whatever treatment they get and just shut up and dribble (I'm not talking about fake SJWs) but if you are getting hosed by your team I don't think it's wrong that you get it off your chest. FO must be held accountable same way players are held accountable |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Ridwan1821: 7:12am On Jul 05 |
Roland17:I believe he still loves Boston. His 7uice foundation will remain in Boston. According to JB, he didn't ask to leave Boston and the franchise didn't tell him why they traded him. He's disappointed to be leaving. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Ridwan1821: 7:15am On Jul 05 |
etidy:I disagree though. This is not the first time Stephen A is coming at Jaylen Brown. All I see is a coordinated attack on Brown's personality not only by SAS but the media. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by etidy: 9:43am On Jul 05 |
Ridwan1821:His issues with Stephen A started when he didn't make the Olympic squad, back then Stephen a said a source told him that the reason J brown was not taken along was due to his marketability and off court behavior. Instead of introspecting and taking criticism he started attacking Stephen A that there was no source. Instead of asking himself why his team is always trying to trade him away after just having the best season of his life he kept on attacking members of the media. The truth is the media always have an agenda and they can be offensive but you have to learn to manage them. At JB's level he's no more a businessman he himself is a Business brand. This young cats nowadays are too thin skinned. They want all the praises all the time (e.g when Stephen a was pushing jaylen brown MVP agenda) but once they get a small critic they set tripod and start podcasting or tweeting. JB has not received one tenth of the criticism that likes of Kobe, LeBron, Steph, Dirk even more recently KAT. You're a champion, a millionaire with a 300 million dollar contract, Intelligent but you still dy do victim Olympics |
| Re: The NBA Begins by Ridwan1821: 10:30am On Jul 05 |
etidy:He's not only a champion and a millionaire but also a human, and humans have feelings. It is quite easy for the media to peddle an agenda against a player without any backlash but we call for the player's head when he responds. Many people hide behind "unanimous sources" to push their controversial takes so as to avoid the backlash that will come with it. We need to get JB right pls. He said it on his stream that anyone can criticize his game and that's totally fine by him. He has no issues with you criticizing his game. Where he draws the line is the attack on his person. He won't take people criticizing his personality, calling him "not marketable" or saying "he's a disease" and all that. He started streaming to tell the true story of himself and not let the media control the narratives. Again, all I see is a coordinated media campaign against Brown who dared them. We have the likes of LeBron James, Draymond Green and Paul George running podcasts with no issue so Brown having a stream shouldn't be a problem so long it doesn't affect his game. |
| Re: The NBA Begins by etidy: 11:37am On Jul 05 |
Ridwan1821:There is no smoke without fire. If all is fine with JB, the Celtics won't trade him in his prime for a bag of chips. I am pretty sure some of those anonymous sources are Brad Stevens and his crew. It's also interesting that none of Jaylen brown's team mate ever came out publicly to defend him. When Stephen A was criticizing Mikal bridges for his poor play earlier on in the season, Josh Hart came out and had his back. None of the Celtics teammates pushed back on the narratives. I don't think all the fault is with Jaylen brown but I also don't think he's blameless in this fallout |
| Re: The NBA Begins by etidy: 11:48am On Jul 05 |
Secondly, no matter how you slice it and whether it was fair or not, Stephen a was right, the reason Jaylen brown didn't make the Olympic team was for non basketball reasons. 4 of his teammates made it and he was left at home. Are there 4 Celtics teammates better than Jaylen brown? |
| Re: The NBA Begins by greypencils: 11:48am On Jul 05 |
Ridwan1821:You got to feel for him. "Boston, they packed me up" He said so repeatedly. Dude is disappointed like he should. When you love your team and your team dont love you back, how are you expected to feel? I felt his pain just like I felt that of D.Rose when he was traded out of Chicago. I guess the bulls have won a championship since then. Same is going to happen to the Celtics. They are not lifting any trophies for some long long time. |
