Good day, house.

I'm about to join the "car owner" association for the first time and I'm seriously considering a Honda Accord 2007 DC (4-cylinder).

The funny part is that I don't even know how to drive yet, so this car will literally teach me how to drive and hopefully not teach me financial lessons too. 😂

I'm a businessman in Abuja, and apart from personal use, I might put it on Uber or Bolt for a while to bring in some extra income instead of letting it sit idle.

My priorities are simple:

- Reliability.
- Fuel economy.
- Affordable maintenance.
- Availability of spare parts.
- Peace of mind.

For those who have owned or driven one, would you recommend it as a first car?

Is it a sensible choice, or should a first-time owner look elsewhere?

What are the common issues to watch out for before buying one?

Nigeria used car when you wan buy na you de type all this? Yes its premium tears.. you better use that money to do other things outside of cars.

Buy 07/08 civic and rest.

The only problem I have with civic is the group clearance it's too low for new Nigerian roads

Oga buy and join the association of car owners. If is Nigerian used just prepare your mind that you would fix things. Also have you spotted a good mechanic that you are choosing for it? He too must be on ground even before you buy the car. And since you are working, then all you have to do is to fix it to your spec. So buy and carry go

Not a bad choice at all
Reliability- it has a very reliable powertrain Infact I prefer the k24a engine in the Honda to the 2az in the Camry one thing I would say is make sure you inspect both engine and gear ( especially the gearbox) when you get it
Fuel Economy - honestly not bad for a sedan it’s size, if you’ll be considering bolt or uber runs, then you’re better if with the civic with a smaller displacement engine
- maintenance; no brainer here, parts to me are cheaper relative to the Camry of the same model year

Very good first car....only problem is the AC compressor. Once you start changing the wahala starts...the original follow come is very hard to come by. Other than that....its a very good first car to use and maintain

Go for the 08 model, this is exactly the same car I'm considering (08). This or GLK, But I love keeping a low profile so I might go for the 08.

Anyone that tells u it's a good buy abeg ask him or her to post their current car brand make e shock u.

Forget that crap of leg cutting for road , I currently drive the 2004 accord bought in 2022 not for once has leg pulled on the road ! Now I have upgraded to the 010 accord v6

Car is car , it all depend on how you manage it and the road you ply . If you buy cybertruck today, laslas , you go still visit mechanic. Just get a good mechanic to check it very well for you. Congratulations in advance.

tokumbo engine 500k! while yeye corrolla engine is 1.3m!

yet to me the car performs far better than corrolla! yes i have used both.

Everything you stated yes except fuel economy, the Honda DC is a great car,

Your story is just exactly like mine, that's the car am using, just got mine few months ago, its Nigerian use, just like someone said, fix it to your specs, am enjoying mine though no issues yet cos engine and gear were newly installed by the seller when I bought it. The parts are also affordable unlike Toyota parts. Make sure you get a good mechanic that will inspect it thoroughly especially the engine and gear.

However, since you don't know how to drive yet, simply enrol for a driving class, after the class, carry your car begin dey drive.

I wanted to go for Toyota brand though, but my friend advised me to start with Honda cos that's the car he is driving based on experience. Therefore, one thing about cars is maintenance, once you know how to maintain it very well, you are good to go.

Go ahead and buy it, that's for a starter like me and you😁.....Goodluck.

I bought this same honda accord (2007 model) in 2024 Nigerian used
Interior is leather and the AC is super, duper chilling infact the AC is like a freezer

The sound system is outstanding.

However because it was Nigerian used, it came with its issues which I had to fix!!
1.The engine was in bad shape so I had to change for a tokunbo engine. (Thank God the gear box had no issues)
I changed shocks, tyres etc

Ever since I changed that engine the car has been driving like brand new

The car is reliable and durable however the problem with it is "the legs" ball joint and shaft cannot be compromised with this car.
On 2 occasions now the ball joint has pulled right in the middle of the road which was very embarrassing but with 30-50k that problem is solved.
MAKE sure u go for tokunbo parts which are readily available and also cheaper compared to Toyota.

Overall, it's an okay car if u will pay good attention to maintenance, the legs in particular and drive responsibly.

Though I don't think it's the best choice for Uber because of its 2.4L engine, which might not give u the best mpg on fuel.

I'm still enjoying mine today.

You'd actually need a competent auto technician more than you need a mechanic
I've come to realise that auto technician popularly known as rewire in Nigeria have more to do on cars than mechanics o

So having a good rewire is a great plus !

Its a very good car only if u know how to maintain it. Lol

Its not not as rugged as ur corolla and camry.

Put Light Truck tyre and you should be fine.
