My Perspective On The Story Of Tower Of Babel by logicDcoder(op):
We all know the story of the Tower of Babel. (Gen. 11:1-9) As kids, we believed it. However, scientific facts debunked the claim that men were building the tower so that they’ll make name for themselves (many take this to be pride) or meet God. Possibly, they may have the latter in mind, also.
Here’s my take on it:
God disrupted the entire construction of the city of Babel because he saw how intellectually advanced men were becoming and how United they were. Just imagine, if he had allowed them to go on, man could’ve created life by now. We would have flying homes, etc, and this could’ve been catastrophic. God had seen how cataclysmic this could be and had to stir up the confusion to slow the rate with which men were becoming intellectually advanced.

Re: My Perspective On The Story Of Tower Of Babel by Amotolongbo(f):
Still wondering why my African people haven’t realised that this kinda story is just nothing but myth just like other Nigerian indigenous stories of Oduduwa falling from heaven or Amadioha.

Where is heaven to start with? Is it the outer space outside the planet earth?
Hope people can realise that the concept of heaven arose from the misconception that the earth is flat and that it has a surface above it called heaven concealed by the sky. This misconception came from the limited knowledge by those middle age of the space.

What technology do they have in the BCs that could build structures as high as Burj Khalifa?
The same God that could diverse the tongues of those building the house to reach heaven, why has he suddenly gone mute and inactive seeing SpaceX, NASA et al launching rockets into the space and exploring other planets which is worse than building to reach “heaven”?

Yet, can those stories be used for mind exercise and development.

The op, for instance, believes some God was involved because that's what they told him to believe. If he became as a child and abandoned his believe and looked at it with fresh eyes, he might ask why a God would not like its people to develop, and then wonder if it weren't humans who did what they told him God did and learn how to mitigate against human dabaruness.

Unfortunately, the believe is, God done it. Because that's what some read in their book.

P.s. I am delighted you ask, logicDcoder, because decoding it will grow you.

Are men today not more intellectually advanced than they are, yet, has God done anything about it?

Clearly, you don't get it.

Abi the programming languages of the scientists are more advanced than what the same God could scatter?

1. Huh? huh

How did your science arrive at this, abeg! I bet that even to this day, we could still find some who conceive that taking regular showers would cause the skin to fade in color. So, exactly how did science conclude that at no point in time did men believe or reason that they could reach the sky by building a tower towards the heavens? undecided

2. First, you posited that science proves that men never believed or built a tower towards the heavens to reach God. Then you turn around and tell us that men did, in fact, conceive the idea, contrary to what you said science suggests, but it was interrupted because of how advanced man had become at the time. Which is it?

3. Men have been building up to the skys and have even flown beyond the moon at this point. What does that make of your thoughts on this? undecided
Re: My Perspective On The Story Of Tower Of Babel by Lucifyre:
The tower of Babel is not only not factual in any way shape or form, it's also not historical as well. It's an etiolgical myth serving as a polemic to Babylonian culture and was even "borrowed" from stories from surrounding ANE cultures. Then again even looKing at it as a story that it is, imagine a deity so insecure that he'd disrupt progress been made by what he created.

Also this is after initially getting scared they would be like him. Meanwhile he's meant to be "Omnipotent" and "Omnibenevolent" but instead here he is getting scared of his creation and always demanding subservience. The Yhwh character is so much of a clown, in his "Omniscience" he forgot it would be impossible to build up to space and has now relocated his abode now space stations and satellites are up there.
Re: My Perspective On The Story Of Tower Of Babel by VeryWickedMan: 8:50pm On Jul 04
The Tower of Babel was a space port.
In those days, only our creator gods could use spacecraft.

It's how they got here.

Man decided to build theirs so they can also fly to space but the gods used sound wave weapons to cause confusion via communication.

The ones who could understand each other banded together & migrated forming the different languages.

The space port project was abandoned as a result.

In case you want to counter with "why we can fly today & our creators allowed it?", understand that the ruling god of Earth today is not the same one as then. The current guy rebels against him. He's the same guy that urged the faction that had sex with human woman to bear the nephilim & taught man how to make weapons, witchcraft, astrology & medicine. The same guy that started the nuclear war that turned a sea into today's Sahara desert (oh yes, nuclear weapons existed before Oppenheimer & was used on Mars too).

I deliberately didn't mention his name.

The question I keep answering is, why most don't ask questions.

And the answer, if I might bore you please is, that's the interpretation we are given to believe.

And since our eyes are not yet open so we can go and look for ourselves, most of us believe.

For now.

P.s. I dedicate this very heretic post to the one who loves me most and is praying for my eyes to open.

The Bible never claimed that they were building to meet God, but rather to make a name for themselves. To unquestionably state, they were building without God’s consent. This is normally what we see in our everyday lives as Christians, where people who claim to be Christians are building (career, marriage, academics, family etc) without making God their sole partner. Initially the journey of life as a Christian has always be a partnership business. It has always been you and God or I and God. However, if you deliberately decide to do that without God’s consent- as Adam and Eve or the people of Babel did - God won't only incite confusion, but Also, He will unseat you from the place of comfort you once enjoyed when he was with you, until you reconnect with him.

The Bible stated that to be pride of life. I don't know if they were building to reach God. Regardless if they did, but without God’s consent, their actions may still be seen as foolish. Imagine going the University without any sponsors (family, uncles, aunties, etc). That is similar to going to work without tools. You will end up being frustrated and bewildered.

This is why I hate religion so much! Below is what the people instead said.
1. There was a time when the whole world spoke one language. Everyone used the same words.
2 Then people began to move from the East. They found a plain in the land of Babylonia and stayed there to live.
3 Then they said to each other, “Let’s make some bricks of clay and bake them in the fire.” Then they used these bricks as stones, and they used tar as mortar.
4 Then the people said, “Let’s build ourselves a city and a tower that will reach to the sky. Then we will be famous. This will keep us together so that we will not be scattered all over the earth.” - Genesis 11 vs 1 - 4
The people built to remain unified and, yes, obtain fame for themselves. They never required permission to build before that point in time, even if from a God who never required that they obtain consent from him before building homes or structures. undecided

2. I truly hate the way you religious lot, particularly in Africa, Nigeria included, go on pretending everything is about your petty, selfish lives. undecided
