The Tower of Babel Genesis 11:1-9

11 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.

3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

1.Was there truly a time when the whole world was speaking a language?
2. Can Crude Building with mortar, tar and brick ever reach heaven?
3. The speech ascribed to God was inappropriate. How can God come down and confuse their language when what they were trying to do was even impossible?

It seems this story never happened in reality or probably figurative!

YES! Adam and Eve were the first humans so all their descendants spoke one language!

The idea wasn't to build a house and reach the heavens but to get prepared against another time perhaps God may get annoyed again with their attitude and decide to wipe them out as he did to Noah's contemporaries.

The major reason why God confused their language was to make them SCATTER throughout the earth because that's his purpose from the beginning humans are to fill the whole earth not stay in one geographical location! Genesis 1:26-28

Simple God wants humans to scatter all over the surface of the earth but they were determined to build a huge skyscraper so that when God gets angry again they can climb as high as possible and the level of the water won't reach them to kill them.
So God confused their language and they left that place and scattered! Genesis 11:1-9 smiley

The ancients were people who were skilled in building very tall buildings so it wasn't impossible. Just Google the Aztec pyramids you will be surprised on how tall they were.

Tall to reach the sky? Like how tall in meters?

It's not know but knowing that lack of technology doesn't stop the ancients from building tall structure it's very possible the building must have be very high let's say it was around 400ft before they had to stop

So God was disturbed by people building when He can command anything and it would happen?

God has given men freewill. He wouldn't remote-control man. Man can choose whatever he wills to do, but God will obstruct man if man's doing is contrary to God's general plan for the world.

Since God can command anything and make it happen as you said. Why can't your Allah command all the human race to become Muslims and see it happen?

The story was obviously made up by men to explain things.

It is a Babylonian myth copied by the Jewish scribes.

Build a house to Heaven? Seriously? Figuratively may be but in actual meaning of the statement? Na lamba.

The tower of babel is further proof of Extraterrestrial involvement in the development of mankind not "God". The scripture says they came down and saw, is God a physical being that he will "stand-up" and "come down" from the sky to see? Same thing with the destruction of sodom, "they" also came down before heading to destroy sodom. This is what I can infer from the story of babel. The humans were tired of being controlled by ET. They probably found a way to get up there(space) with probably a rocket(remember if you put prehistoric moses in a NASA space launch center, he will refer to the rocket as a tower). Its also possible that they brought war to the people which made them run(scatter). Think about it, deaf & dumb people still communicate with normal people using sign languages. If you really do your research from the torah you will discover that the old testament God was a physical presence that the israelites felt.

This your postulation no gel at all. It looks like a contradiction. Man has freewill yet he can be blocked by God!

God created Hell for a Purpose! So it will be filled. Same as Paradise! Not everyone will be Muslims. Not everyone will make Paradise!

Does your son not have freewill to act according to his choice in your house? Don't you punish him if he acts contrariwise? It you see him using his freewill to attempt jumping into a well or destroying your cherished property, won't you block him in spite of his freewill? Or do you actually remote-control your son?

If hell was created for a purpose, why did your God command infidels to be killed by you if he has power to cast people to hell?

And if you think God cannot command people to follow Him because He created hell and heaven for a purpose, then apply your answer to your own question.

You're correct. It never happened. There was never time the same language was spoken everywhere in the world.

But there's an underlying meaning to that fictional story. The ancients have their own way of teaching certain truths about life once they discovered them.

He's just slamming his head on a wall without any gain. In Islam our belief is that Adam and Eve were the first human couple so they must have spoken to each other and certainly it's the same language. So if they're the ancestors of all mankind definitely there was a time that everyone on this planet spoke the same language.
