There is something I have observed over the years, and I would like to hear other people's opinions on it. Many men seem to end up in one of two extremes. If you are the confident, unpredictable and "bad boy" type, many women appear to enjoy the excitement you bring. They overlook your flaws, forgive your mistakes more easily and sometimes even compete for your attention. You become someone they want to chase, even when your actions do not always deserve it. On the other hand, if you are the dependable, respectful and genuinely kind man, life can take a completely different turn. Instead of being appreciated, your kindness is sometimes mistaken for weakness. Your generosity becomes an expectation insteadTitle: As a Man, You Are Either the Exciting Guy or the Useful Guy. Why Is There Rarely a Balance? Your generosity becomes an expectation instead of something valued. Your time, your emotional support and your money slowly become things people feel entitled to rather than grateful for. Many good men have discovered that the more they give without setting boundaries, the more they are expected to give. The relationship gradually becomes less about mutual love and more about what they can provide. Once they stop providing, the treatment often changes almost immediately. This raises an uncomfortable question. Why does it sometimes seem easier to be desired as the exciting man than appreciated as the dependable man? Personally, I do not think the solution is becoming toxic or pretending to be a bad boy. Neither do I believe men should become bitter or stop being kind. The real solution is balance. A man should be kind but never naive. He should be generous but not allow himself to be exploited. He should love deeply while still maintaining self respect. He should help willingly without becoming anyone's personal ATM. Kindness without boundaries attracts exploitation. Confidence without character creates chaos. Healthy relationships require both love and mutual respect. Perhaps the biggest lesson for men is this: never build your entire value around what you can provide financially. Build yourself into a man whose presence, character and principles are just as valuable as his wallet. What do you think? Do you agree that many men are either explored for excitement or exploited for provision, or do you see it differently? of something valued. Most men don't understand how many women's minds work. What you see as kindness, she may interpret as neediness or desperation. That often creates what women call the "ick." Once that ick feeling sets in, even being handsome or wealthy may not save your chances. Sometimes the relationship continues, but the attraction doesn't. |

As you grow older, you learn that virtually everything you believed about life and women are all lies. The world taught you to be good,be nice,be respectful that you would get same back... it's a lie to keep you in chain. Look around you,the wicked are the ones ruling and enjoying this world. |

Used to fall between the two as I can easily switch.... If I don't like a girl ...I tend to play around her like a non challant bad boy and she will always want a piece of me.... But if I love a girl, I am the pastor-like and she usually don't want that in me.... Even the pastor's daughters I have engaged with don't like a good guy..... |

Exactly, Women will hate you for being kind to them unnecessarily...As a man, make a woman earn your kindness, that's when it's valued. An unearned kindness towards a woman is interpreted as weakness. Sometimes, deny her the kindness she earned and she would value you for it. In a woman's brain, less effort is interpreted as high value. The mind of women work opposite to the the way a man's mind works. Babatunjo: |

Not until you people know that kindness is different from foolishness, you will keep talking thrash about man to woman relationship, common sense needs to tell you if you are extending hands of kindness to particular person over time and instead to resprocating, she is be ungrateful, you need to cut it immediately |

Have you heard about penis envy ![]() In psychoanalytic theory, "penis envy" is rarely interpreted literally by modern practitioners (and we know why). Instead, it serves as a potent metaphor for a woman’s subconscious recognition of patriarchal privilege. It represents a deep-seated craving for the power, autonomy, and social dominance traditionally granted to men. When a woman has been conditioned by society to be passive, agreeable, and rule-abiding, she may experience a profound, repressed envy of those who can move through the world with uninhibited freedom. This hidden desire for power often drives the intense attraction toward the stereotypical "bad boy." The bad boy represents raw, unchecked authority and a total rejection of societal constraints. Because the woman feels barred from executing this level of aggressive autonomy herself, she seeks to access it by proxy. Aligning with a rebellious partner allows her to vicariously experience the thrill of defiance and the intoxication of social power.Bonnie and Clyde ![]() The man is damaged, the woman is on a fairytale. Both of them get a rude awakening. She wakes up from her fantasy, he gets tired of being a bad boy or he dies from the excesses or if he has another chance, he repents and becomes a good man and the lady who liked him for his dangerous unpredictability behaviour starts to resent him. Men start to discover themselves later in life while girls mature faster than boys their age. Most of these things are corrected by the family that is why you need both mother and father in a family unit. |

I think this presents a false dilemma. Men are not limited to being either the "bad boy" or the "nice guy." Most healthy, well-adjusted men fall somewhere in the middle. They are confident without being arrogant, kind without being pushovers, and assertive without being toxic. The idea that women only want "bad boys" is a popular narrative, but it doesn't tell the whole story. Some people—men and women alike—are attracted to excitement or emotional intensity, especially when they're younger. Others actively seek stability, kindness, and emotional maturity. People's preferences also change with age and experience. I also think it's important to distinguish between kindness and people-pleasing. A genuinely kind person gives because they choose to, but they also know how to say "no." A people-pleaser often gives out of fear of rejection or in the hope of being loved in return. When those efforts aren't reciprocated, resentment builds. If someone repeatedly ends up feeling used, it's worth asking not only, "Why are people like this?" but also, "Why do I keep choosing relationships where my generosity isn't reciprocated?" That's not about blaming the person—it's about recognizing patterns that can be changed. The same applies to the "bad boy." He may attract attention more quickly, but attention isn't the same as commitment. Plenty of exciting men struggle to build lasting, healthy relationships because charisma alone doesn't sustain a partnership. Ultimately, the goal isn't to become less kind or more toxic. It's to develop self-respect, emotional intelligence, confidence, and clear boundaries. Those qualities tend to attract people who value you for who you are, not just for the excitement you create or the resources you provide. The healthiest relationships aren't built around one person chasing excitement and the other providing security. They're built when both people bring respect, affection, accountability, and reciprocity to the table. That's a much more realistic balance than the "exciting guy versus useful guy" framework. |
