Some cars don't just take you from Point A to Point B.

They take you from your house ➜ mechanic ➜ parts market ➜ another mechanic ➜ back to the parts market.

Here are a few cars Nigerians always argue about.

(Don't fight me... this is based on common ownership experiences and maintenance reputation.)

🚩 1. Old Range Rover

Looks like:

"Big Boy."

Reality:

"Check Engine."

😂

Every warning light on the dashboard is conducting choir practice.

🚩 2. BMW (Especially neglected ones)

Drives beautifully...

...when it's actually driving.

Once maintenance has been ignored, your wallet starts receiving weekly alerts.

BMW isn't cheap to maintain.

Ignoring maintenance makes it much worse.

🚩 3. Peugeot (Older models)

Some owners swear by them.

Others swear at them.

If you find a well-maintained one, it's fantastic.

Some things you see as problems are actually blessings in disguise. You see that I pass my neighbour generator? It falls into the same category as the cars you mentioned.

We had one in my hostel back then that frustrated all of us. We were forced to become generator mechanics. We dismantled and reassembled it ourselves over and over until we got used to it. Today, I have no problem fixing generators. I can repair them perfectly without needing the services of a professional mechanic.

I think some of these brands deliberately make the cars to dilapidate easily so that their newer models will sell.

Same thing they did on fuel economy of these cars in collusion with the oil industry.

By and large, all of those gets the world running, else, things may stagnate for several players in all streams.

Why is Nissan and Infiniti family not on that list.
One would expect them to make number 1.
Nissan Pathfinder engine go still knock even if you service am every month.
Worse part is of you change the engine without the right code e go knock before you reach house.

After my experience with an Infiniti JX I am never going any where close to a Nissan again.
Funny most people who I know have similar issues.
If no be gear issue, na electric, of no be electric na engine....
Never had peace with that car for the 1 years I drove it.

they only lack experts with real time experience. I have used European cars(bmw,benz,audi,Volkswagen,Peugeot),Japanese cars and now using American cars and I have no negative story about any because I am a very talented mechanic .

First it is the fuel pump. You go change am tire. Next gear, next to engine. One day, one issue until you vex sell am with abeg and far below your expectation. Buy it in Tokunboh or Nigerian used form, the story is the same.

BMW and Peugeot are good Cars. Come and see them in action in Kaduna. Both older , semi old and new models.

I've been driving a BMW e46 since 2012. A Car I bought for 230k then. As Nigerian used. I drive that car from Kaduna to Benin 3 to 4 times every year. Apart from daily City drive.

I am thinking of buying a Peugeot 206 Nigerian used. This Car cosume fuel like Keke. Very rugged and strong Car.

That thing you said about Peugeot is a fat lie. Peugeot is the easiest car to maintain. Parts everywhere and over time you can do minor repairs yourself.
Highly computerized cars are difficult to maintain because it’s hard to get mechanics with clear knowledge about them

Citron Laguna that car and my village people they work hand in hand., I abandoned the car at the mechanic shop o'nly to return and found that the apprentice has turn the car into their one room self contain

BMW are great Cars. Nigerians just get stereotype. They believe only Toyota cars are good. Must everyone drive a boring Toyota Car? A little research on BMW fault and you will easily have it fixed. You might not fix this same problem again for years.

Unlike Toyota that you fix the same problem almost every year. For instance, you change Toyota break pads every 4 to 6 months. While I only changed my e46 break pads 3 times since 2012.

Nissan Altima, old version. Omo that car almost amputate my destiny back then. You would always find me at the mechanics on weekends consistently.

When I got tired, I just sold it off. From that day I vowed never to buy any Nigerian use cars except from someone I know.
