Mikel Obi speaks on family financial pressure faced by successful Africans Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has spoken about the financial responsibilities many successful Africans carry toward their extended families. According to Mikel, in many African societies, financial success often comes with expectations that go far beyond supporting one’s immediate household. He said that when a person becomes wealthy, siblings, extended relatives, and even in-laws may come to depend on them financially. Using Victor Osimhen as an example, Mikel suggested that the striker experiences similar pressures. He added that when successful individuals are no longer able or willing to provide financial assistance, they are often perceived negatively by those who had relied on them. Mikel said in part … “In Africa, when you make money, it’s not just yours it belongs to the whole family depending on you. Your siblings, their in-laws, everyone depends on you. Victor Osimhen faces the same thing. The moment you stop helping, you become the bad guy”

It's simply because of widespread poverty in Africa. The more the financial muscle of your relatives & people around you, the less the financial pressure on you. Moral: As you succeed & make money in life, try to empower your relatives & those around you. |

Do u want to be among the beggers? It is better you are among the successfulooo. It is not easy to beg. If you see the emotional trauma people go through before they beg, you will always wish not to be in that quadrant. If you are successful, emulate people like Tony Elumelu and get a foundation that will raise some Africans from the begging status to entrepreneurs. And stop complaining. |

Not only in Africa...it's like this globally... Though it's more exacerbated in Africa and South America due to high prevalence of poverty..... These guys should just stop coming online and blowing things out of proportion |

Why is he always complaining, this stingy maggot. This guy is supposed to be "The Okpara" in his father's house! In traditional igbo settings, he should be the one to guide his siblings rightly in life when his dad is not there or incapcitated. But he is always wailing.. My dad trained all his 4 brothers. Man sacrificed a lot to set them up in life. It is the igbo culture! Culture defines a people... Mikel is from Neni in Anambra State. The first son of his father. But I doubt if he knows the site of his father's "Obi"! Mikel needs to be flogged! I know he was born in Jos, but together with PSquare them, dude is becoming a maximum emberassment to the igbo culture. You don't complain about what you did for your family or siblings. Where we come from, it is not a gesture, it is a RESPONSIBILITY. All these "my mama said I be igbo" will unravel the great culture of the igbos if allowed.. |

He no lie,all the responsibilities of the family will be shouldered by such person. You will hear things like:my father and his great grandfather are cousins, they will attach themselves to such person by force. Some may even sacrifice their own well-being and their children for the sake of the family at large, but most of them were under appreciated. |

The very same people you are carrying and supporting financially will come on social media to boast that living in Nigeria is cheaper and sweeter than living in the country you are supporting them from. Another young man collapsed and died at work in the UK due to stress recently...The numbers are increasing everyday. A lot of the people he sends money to have never worked or hustled a day in their lives. Well, make everybody dey get sense sha... Put yourself first. |

Exactly, the parasite that doesn't know the time you were suffering and hustling to make something out of your life will now be demanding from your breakthrough, juat like Remi Tinubu amd her husband calling out Burna Boy, Davidk, Asake etc to bring their hard earned money for Tinubu to share to Nigerians.....just imagine, stupid sense of entitlement from these maggots uthor=EmmyMaestro post=140022611]Mikel Obi speaks on family financial pressure faced by successful Africans Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has spoken about the financial responsibilities many successful Africans carry toward their extended families. Imagine Rio Ferdinand pretending as if it doesn't happen among the whites and all races in general; the practice, no matter which name one wishes to term it, is universal, even though it could be more severe among Africans due to obvious reasons. |

The best form of help you can render to them, is by sending them or their kids to school. I personally can't give a dime to a man simply cos his wife is in labour or coz his house rent expired. Your wife didn't accidentally get pregnant, neither did your rent magically expired all of a sudden. Help them send the kids to school coz it is not the kid's fault that they ended up in a poor family. Lastly, this is to every struggling guy out there who is not yet married, shun woman for now and build your finances, you will go alone faster than when you decide to carry your burden and that of another person on your head. |

The truth is... He is probably a beneficiary of that as well. May be a family member introduced him to football or encouraged or supported him in his career. May be some family members contributed money to send him abroad. |
