Morning folks. So I paid my tuition deposit since the 9th via paymytuition to the school and it's yet to land with the school as of today. Likely due to the delayed banking system in the US and Canada for overseas payment clearance. I plan on paying my tuition in full this week and I am wondering if there is a faster payment method. Please don't mention SWIFT.

Also, to those who suceessfully did a GIC deposit payment in a bank in Canada, please tell me what method you used to transfer the money to the bank in canada besides SWIFT.

Thanks.

It takes about 5-7 business days to reflect, mine took 6 days.
GIC I did I sent via my Nigerian domiciliary account, via SWIFT. It took just 24hrs to reflect, but took about 4 days for the GIC to be created.

Yes

Mavor:
Did you use a GIC deposit to support your application?

I am old school. I used SWIFT back in 2016/2017, but since then schools have a lot more options available now

Send an email to your school. Most schools have at least three methods of accepting international payments. That is your best option. Ask them for all the payment methods they have available for accepting international payment from Nigeria

For some reason, they usually mention only one method on the admission letter, but if you email them and explain that you need more options as someone paying from Nigeria, they will provide the available alternatives.. you school is your best option ask them

I have an Access current and a USD dom account. I went to Access and they said they need to apply using Form A to CBN and I need 3 years tax clearance which I don't have as my taxes are PAYE deducted at source by my employer. The whole thing is so stressful. It's like I will do only full tuition payment using PayMyTuition and file my visa application like that without GIC.

For Tuition yes. PayMyTuition.com and their USD debit card helps. For GIC, this is strictly between the international student and the Canadian bank. The school is not involved apart from providing you the LOA after tuition deposit, to give the bank. And the banks receive through Swift ONLY. No other option.

That's why, when you ask a question, you should give the full context. It helps people understand your situation and answer your question correctly.

You said, "I plan on paying my tuition in full this week." I assumed you meant paying your school tuition directly to the school. You never mentioned that you were talking about a GIC. Now I understand..

Anything that has to do with tuition payments always contact your school for the channel to make that payment...

I don't always recommend opening a GIC. While it can be a good option, it does not guarantee visa.

If you decide to open one, use your Nigerian bank account or sponsors bank account to send the funds. Make sure your bank verifies the SWIFT code of the Canadian bank and the account is in your name before sending the money.

ensure that the GIC account is in your name and that the funds are being sent from your own Nigerian bank account or your sponsors account.

That makes it easier to show the source of your funds if IRCC asks.

The GIC account is in my name but my bank is asking for 3 years tax clearance certificate which I don't have as all my taxes are PAYE, deducted at source by my employer. As such, I will not bother with the GIC. Working on paying the full 2 years tuition this week.

3 years of tax returns? 😂😂 Thank you, Tinubu...rubbish governmant

It was never this way before. I believe the government doesn't want individuals sending money abroad without first making sure they can tax it and verify that taxes have been paid....

Meanwhile, no one asks government officials for these same documents when they're sending money overseas..

Nigerian politicians' kids are living comfortably. I have personally been to one luxury penthouse condo near Square One in Mississauga owned by a Nigerian politician kid

it had four bedrooms yes I am correct 4 bedroom and a private elevator. I won't mention any names, and that wasn't even the only property his father bought for him..

Anyway, sorry for your frustration.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by lankyuchebanky: 5:24pm On Jul 15
This wasn't what happened to me.
I paid mine through my First bank dollar account seamlessly. The only I was asked was admission letter, int'l passport then I fill in CREMIT form with details. And in 24 hrs the fund reflected in CAD equivalent in my Canadian account.

Hello everyone. Good evening.
Please i have a question for lawyers here.
Please did you have to submit a transcript from the Nigerian law school when putting your application to a university in Canada or is the one from your Nigerian university enough?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Kossyfelicia(f): 9:14pm On Jul 15
ATTAHDYE:
Sometimes, an application can be denied because the Visa Officer is not convinced that you will have "access to the funds" when needed.

In order to clear that doubt, you can set up a GIC with a Canadian Bank, usually CIBC. You transfer the money (at least 20ķ CAD) to CIBC and they will issue you a certificate.

This is now form part of your POF.

It doesn't guarantee approval but it increases your chances of getting one.
okay. Thanks so how can someone open an account with CIBC since I'm in Nigeria now.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by creolehunt: 9:41pm On Jul 15
I submitted my application on 28th June, this Sunday will make it 3 weeks and there's been no feedback, except them updating my biometrics.

This is considering that the processing time I saw at application is 5weeks.

Is this normal? Can they still keep to the 5 weeks?

God have mercy. The pressure is coming from school saying if we don’t upload approval latest July 31st, our offer will be withdrawn.

Hopefully IRCC will respond before then, You have to email the school concerning the delay if they could extend the deadline or you defer the admission to the next available intake to avoid losing your tuition deposit.
