QuinQQ:Oh don't worry about not having a DNA test in the old days. If you really want to know who your father is, go and provoke your village people to anger or take a share before an elder does, you go hear your full genealogy in one sentence. You gave a man a child that is not his and you expect him to sit back relax and accept wetin? Infact, DNA tests has to be mandatory at birth, if the man chooses to go ahead and raise that child so be it. Don't take away the dignity of the man to choose. Let him choose for himself wether to go ahead or say no. |

Chris225:But it is NOT all about you! That's the whole point. There is societly at large to consider! It is govt's duty to safeguard life and property and have society running as smoothly as possible. Unwarranted DNA fishing expeditions of minors raised from birth do not in any.way contribute to any if that. It does the opposite! As for men getting pregnant, you're talking about yourself! ![]() GenFunction:You can say thst again. No matter how cogent the reasons you give them they'll still be repeating the same inanities like parrots! |

LordReed:Exactly as I thought, you can't come up with a reason and therefore resort to insults. I can tell you some disadvantages right away without insults - broken homes, fatherless children, and destruction of trust within the home (the mother has now been expressly told her husband doesn't trust her). Add to those the obvious fact that unwarranted DNA fishing expeditions of minors raised from birth do not in any.way contribute to govt's duty to safeguard life and property and have society running as smoothly as possible! |

reservd:Thanks for simply stating your points instead of resorting to insults like some people (a certain LordReed comes to mind!) Well, you'll have had a point if it were all about him, but it emphatically is not! There is the well-being and smooth-running of society at large to comsider. Broken homes, fatherless children, and destruction of trust within the home - the only possible outcomes of unwarranted DNA fishing expeditions of minors raised from birth, do not in any.way contribute to any of that. Neither does it help the govt in it's responsibility to safeguard life and property (fatherless children are disproportionately manace to society) |

DMCA:Interesting, but it is out of the purview of this thread. We're only concerned with uwarranted fishing expedition DNA of children approximately 10 to 18 years of age! |

DMCA:Until some fatherless armed robber attacks you, you'll realize society ought be concern of we all. We're more concerned with who raises a child than sperm donors. |

DMCA:This thread is NOT about forcing anybody to do anything. It is about preventing you from trying to create a problem (for society) where non exists - spending your scarce resources trying to prove that your teenager is not your child. A child you've raised and loved from infancy! Even if he turns out to be your child (which is 90% likely) the home may still break because you've clearly told your wife you don't trust her! |

I quite agree with you but what happened to the biological father of the "fatherless" children? We are in a society where the actual father can later come and claim his child unless he's already late. This child we are "protecting here, how will he/she feel finding out the person he has been looking up to isn't his/her biological father. My point in all these is just sincerity from the onset, that's all QuinQQ: |
| Re: Why Government Should Ban DNA Testing Of Minors by QuinQ: 6:04pm On Jul 16 |
LordReed:And can you please tell us why you can't stand on your own two feet? Why must you drag "we" into it?? See, you're too adversarial about the whole thing, using words like "clueless", "myopic", "puerile", "lost in dreamland", instead of simply stating your points! Which is actually a sign of someone with no cogent argument. This is a discussion, a debate, not some fight. You present your points and if someone doesn't get it or pretend they don't get it, you present it again - exactly what I do! No need for insulting or adversarial tone! |
| Re: Why Government Should Ban DNA Testing Of Minors by LordReed(m): 6:11pm On Jul 16 |
QuinQ:Unlike you I don't arrogantly think the ideas I dreamed up while navel gazing are supreme, I can recognise when people have excellent points. Lots of people have given you well thought out and well written rebuttals to anything you have to say and instead of considering it you just repeat your already thoroughly defeated idea. |
| Re: Why Government Should Ban DNA Testing Of Minors by QuinQ: 6:12pm On Jul 16 |
CoolUsername:That's the thing, we don't know whether there's been any of that. We do know that about 90% of cases turn out to be the man's biological child. But that's not our concern here. What we are concerned with is discouraging sudden unwarranted expensive DNA fishing expeditions on teenagers raised from infancy! |
| Re: Why Government Should Ban DNA Testing Of Minors by QuinQ: 6:34pm On Jul 16*. Modified: 6:50pm On Jul 16 |
addictiv:Fairly long one. (I never said I was against birth DNA) Ok, let's be clear what we are talking about here: 90% of DNA test cases the husband is the biological. So we're talking about 10%. Different if the tests were free and unobtrusive. But no, they're expensive and involves the children and their mother knowing their father lacks trust in them. And love too because if you love someone you won't be out trying to prove they're not your child. That's enough to break up a home even if it turns out the father is the biological! Also remember, all through history there had never been DNA tests and sometimes, unbeknownst to the father, the most successful of his children is not even his biological child but he gets all the accolade as his father and the child carries his name and proudly references him as his father. Can't you see that matters way more than sperm?? Here's what a real father wrote below on this thread. Govt law will be to encourage all fathers of teenagers to be more like that! Here it is: But jokes apart, there's elements of truth here o. Because after the love and bond with my children from pregnancy to infancy to adolescent to adult, many times we've shared love, sufferings, laughter, pains and joy together then one idiot from nowhere wants to drag me to go and do DNA, as how naw? The fact is that, I will never ever want to think whether the children are mine or not. Children wey i nurture from pregnancy till now |
