Abikeadebey:You tell the truth. One thing I've seen is that many people do not FACTUALLY check their monthly expenditure. Sit down with the account you submitted and calculate what leaves your account and what enters. Do an aaverage over 3 or 4 months and you'll know what your monthly expenses. Keep accounts simple. |

Abikeadebey:Thats how I applied also, I realised that between the six months there was no month i spent the same amount. Not even close to each other. Infact there was no month that I didn't spend more than the amount I claimed to spend monthly. I am still waiting for their outcome. I applied on the 22nd |

modash:I added every debit in my account and divide by 6, I realized my monthly spendings is #45k , please is that not too small for someone who pay herself 1.5m monthly ? Do you think I should reapply with that ? |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by modash(m): 6:17pm On Aug 01 |
Abikeadebey:45k seems very low, it doesn't seems realistic. You should consider that if you spend that monthly what is the chance that you would spend a whole lot more on a trip/vacation. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Taal17: 10:54pm On Aug 01 |
Abikeadebey:If what you're saying is correct then are you also saying you that at the end of every month in your salary account you have 1.450 million? Is that all you spend per month? Food, transport, fuel, electricity, clothes, data? Is 45k How many accounts did you submit? Was it just your salary account? Did other accounts submitted also have debits ? My initial response to you was based on the details of the refusal . The refusal says that the monthly expenses you put is less than what you spend monthly. If what you're calculating is correct then you might have a case to ask for it to reconsidered |

modash:I have 2 accounts savings and business…. I pay myself monthly salary into my savings account, am I suppose to calculate the both account monthly spendings or just the savings/salary account spendings. Because from the salary account my spendings is not the same monthly. Sometimes I send 70/80/90k in a month. Please I need help on how to calculate my spendings not trying to blame why I spend so low |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by modash(m): 3:15pm On Aug 02 |
Abikeadebey:Well in my case, what i did was that I submitted all my accounts details, then I based my monthly expenditure based on these accounts. From the question in the visa application form, they ask about your income and expenditures, so it isnt specific to just one account |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Abikeadebey: 3:43pm On Aug 02 |
modash:So for reapplication what do you advise? How do I calculate my monthly spendings ? Am I supposed to calculate the both account which is savings and business? How did you calculate your monthly expenditure? |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by modash(m): 8:36am On Aug 03 |
Abikeadebey:The answer to your question is where do you draw the money you spend on. If you spend whether from your business or personal account you should show evidence. So for example if you draw 50k monthly from your savings and 260k from your business account then you should provide the evidence of that. Basically show evidence of your income and expenditure so that the office will determine whether you are suitable for the visa |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Abikeadebey: 1:57pm On Aug 03 |
modash:The ukvi worked with my savings account which my monthly expenditure was sometime 70/80/90k. In my application I filled in 135k as my monthly expenditure, but the eco said that was lower than what I spent. Meanwhile in my savings account I only spend 70/80/90k in a month. So I dnt understand why they said 135k is even lower because they quote the account number…. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by modash(m): 8:10pm On Aug 03 |
Abikeadebey:Did you submit both accounts ![]() On a pleasant note I secured the uk visit visa today. I got the approval mail around 5pm |

Abikeadebey:They are not fools. They know reality. How can someone earning ₦1.5m monthly claim to be spending ₦135,000 in a country where inflation is high? Feeding for 30 days alone at average of ₦3000 per day is almost ₦100,000 and you'll not transport yourself, get internet connection etc. I don't know why some of you can't be real with yourself before applying or just dashing UKVI nonrefundable visa fees |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by davodyguy: 9:14pm On Aug 03 |
modash:That's what they don't consider. You want to travel and spend £2000, yet in your own country you spend less than £50 monthly. Haba |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by davodyguy: 9:30pm On Aug 03 |
giselle237:With that kind of money he claims to earning, nothing should stop him from getting a land in Mowe size if he stays in Lagos for at least ₦2,000,000. Some applicants think they can 'intimidate' ECO with big balance and it's easy route to visa issuance. |

davodyguy:You think everybody is desperate for visa l ? Hell NO!!! I have active Schengen visa and Canada… and I’m a frequent traveler, i have been refused before in 2023 because I dnt pay salary to myself. I decided to try again now after paying myself salary consistently for 6month, I have 3/4 diff savings account sometimes I forget to spend from the salary account. I stated earlier that I spend sometimes 90/100k monthly from the salary account, in the first 2 month of paying myself salary I dnt know I was supposed to spend from the account, I started spending 100k monthly from the 3rd month. Calculated all my monthly spendings together divided by 6 gave me about 45/50k. Get your facts right and help if you can, not everybody is desperate for visa. I”m just trying to get the visa all I need is a guide on how to go about my monthly spendings, not you bringing out faults without solution……. I need solution not faults |

Abikeadebey:Your profile not tallying, that’s why they refused you.. with your active visas they could have ignored the inconsistency in your profile and granted you but this is one of those cases where they refused to. Visa denials are at an all time high now, things are not ignored anymore. Any small doubt the visa officer has now, you will be denied. I have been singing this for a few months since the uproar in the UK increased as lots of illegals and overstayers and the British people are absolutely fed up. In my opinion retry after 6 months so you don’t look so desperate and with better preparation + adequate care taken into filling your form etc OR get a salaried role and try after a couple of months. Use the Schenghen and Canadian visas appropriately and continue to show that you do not overstay visas. Canada and Schenghen have similar immigration styles with them so this counts. |

Hello, I’d like to seek your professional advice regarding my UK Standard Visitor visa reapplication. I previously applied for a UK visitor visa in January 2026 and was refused, mainly because UKVI was not satisfied with the source of some funds in my savings account and noted that my salary credits were not identifiable. I am currently preparing a fresh application and want to make sure I present everything correctly. I am employed full-time. I receive a regular monthly salary, and I can now provide my *salary account statements, payslips, employment/offer letter, staff ID and employment confirmation/introduction letter*. In addition to my employment, I have worked since 2023 as a *freelance Talent Scout with freelance Africa*. I source qualified professionals across Africa for recruitment opportunities and receive *performance-based commissions and bonuses* depending on successful recruitment outcomes. A significant portion of my savings has come from this freelance work. My savings account currently has approximately ₦9.2 million, and the statement clearly shows payments such as a ₦4.185 million freelance commission and ₦1.25 million freelance commission, among other talent-sourcing payments. I also have supporting freelance engagement/welcome emails, recognition/award documents and evidence of rewards/payments. I also have approximately ₦1 million invested across two mutual fund/equity accounts, which I can support with investment statements. I am also currently studying for my Master's degree. I have my admission/enrolment documentation, student ID and academic results. My proposed UK trip is from 26–04 September 2026, during my academic break, after which I will return to Nigeria to continue both my employment and studies. My proposed trip is self-funded, and I intend to stay in London for tourism and sightseeing. I would really appreciate your professional assessment of my situation, particularly: 1. How should I present my freelance commissions on the application—as additional income, savings, or both? 2. How should I correctly declare my ₦9.2m Globus savings and ₦1m mutual-fund investments without double-counting the funds? 3. What is the best way to address the previous refusal? 4. What documents would you recommend I provide to establish the source of the freelance funds? 5. Is my proposed 10 day trip and budget (2200) reasonable given my financial circumstances? 6. Are there any weaknesses or inconsistencies you see in my new application that I should correct before submission? 7. Or would be better I use my friend in the UK as sponsor who is willing to invite me over at his place? I want to make sure this application is completely transparent and that the financial story is presented accurately and consistently with the evidence. |
