Mine self-sponsored too.
Nice. I also believe a big emphasis from IRCC going forward is on POF and the source of fund passing validity in being genuine and readily available to the primary applicant's use. They don't want people who will enter Canada and be a nuisance with the current state of the economy. Plus the ongoing Indian students protest has really left a bad taste in their mouth and the Canadian people are upset at their level of entitlement.

They said going forward they are most likely to request for additional financial documents. Anyone who earns legitimately has no fear.

Every large deposit, every earning, every money trail is well documented and explained. Including all my personal bank statements, payslips, employee stock sales, bonuses, etc. Plus no one but me has access or signatory rights to all my accounts (USD and Naira). My Cover Letter is well indexed so the visa officer can easily understand what I am presenting and exhibits I am referencing. But it is God that has done it in the end, not by my efforts.

Everything I submitted in my application came with LOE. I did not give them room to guess anything. That was why my files were larger than the required 4MB. I kept compressing files.

Imagine every document had LOE attached. LOL
I even drew diagrams on documents. No room for guess work. Since I was not there to explain anything to them, every document had LOE attached. Some I drew diagrams on them. All thanks to ChatGPT

Exactly. All large docs should come with an introduction letter so the visa officer knows what he/she is looking at and determine how it fits in during the eligibility review.

I don’t see any changes from what they are doing before in case of pof,the only difference is they added pof on in-Canada study permit extension, who has not explained source of funds or lump sum and got visa approved in the past? Am sure nobody..
The rule could target unauthorized work any student working more than required hours to pay school fees, if you use your employment documents on an extension they will caught you, they may request additional documents.
And am sure new rule targets those students protested on July 2026 in alberta or any student who wants to do another program after pgwp just to remain in Canada.

On July 24, 2026, IRCC updated its officer guidance under R220 without changing any dollar figures; instead it sharpened two things officers must be satisfied about: that your funds are genuinely available to you without working in Canada, and where those funds actually came from. Officers are now directed to scrutinize the amounts and sources of applicants' funding, with the source of funds assessed "in all cases" — replacing the earlier framework that limited detailed financial verification to applications from designated high-risk environments, and reportedly extending the bank-statement window from four to six months. The thresholds themselves are unchanged: $22,895 for a single applicant outside Quebec, plus first-year tuition and travel.

if funds are genuinely available to the applicant without working in Canada but officers has been using this as grounds for refusal if they are not satisfied,so what exactly has changed! They required four months bank statements in the past but now 6 months,am sure majority who got visa approved here used more than four months statements, I actually used upto 8 months Bank statements for visa approved,so what exactly has changed!
Check the students that protested in July and check the country, you'll understand why IRCC is changing rules!!their protest was favouring them in the past like work permit extensions after pgwp expires but they are still protesting at the time when IRCC is cutting temporary residents and now it is backfiring.

Am sure there will be a time when IRCC will cut down pgwp duration that time is still coming!

Baba no vex. I no dey work for IRCC. But the current Indian students protest has changed something. Maybe subtle, maybe serious. Only time will tell if it has a noticeable impact on Nigerian applicants

Unfortunately the Indians may mess up everything for everyone. Go to places like Reddit and the native Canadians are complaining

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by lanresz(m): 5:23pm On Aug 05
I won't be surprised if they cut down the duration. It used to be only 1 year with a requirement that you get a job in your field within 3 months after you graduate.

Ok got you. I was not talking about voluminous of the documents I was referring to content of every document. I did not attach LOE becos the documents were large. I attached because of the contents on the documents and every doc in my case had LOE

This reminds of Sweden grin, almost look like Swedish immigration pattern after graduation..
The reasons why I dropped sweden study visa and sowp application even after getting letter of acceptance to study and paying for loa process in portal, work permit after study is not easy at all

Hello everyone, please I made my tuition fee deposit through flywire and I paid the stated amount, but when it dropped on the Seneca Home profile, the fee reduced due to charges or inflation.
What do I do? Do I pay the remaining balance or I email flywire or Seneca?

Ask flywire support to explain the variance between what you paid and what dropped on Seneca, before you know whether to pay an additional to cover the outstanding plus any potential fee. Seneca will most likely refer you back to flywire.

Contgrats.
Watch how they will come for you because you mentioned 'no agent'.
I repeat, if you can read and understand simple instructions, you do not need an agent to apply for visa of any kind.

I have never traveled out. I do not have international travel history. I am not married, both parents are deceased, no kids, no landed property, no siblings, not working for any company in Nigeria and do not own one (I work remotely as a freelancer) no strong home ties yet I got my study permit approved at first attempt.

Even when someone advised me not to fill that schdule-1 application form because in the form you are asked of your travel history. I followed ChatGPT instructions and I filled it. Even when my school said I should use BorderPass agents to process my application I refused. I did everything on my own and ChatGPT has always been my go-to resource.

My application was approved after 4 weeks and 3 days of submitting the application.
Again, if you can read and understand simple instructions, you can do it by yourself.

Congratulations once again.

PS: I do not response to dms so nobody should send one.
PPS: Anyone chatting you privately claiming to be AbelAbdul, please expose the person. I will not private chat anyone in this forum.
Thank you.

Unrelated, but white people are not “Native Canadians”

Native Candians are the ones who were in Canada before white people came, which is only 5% of Canada today.

I know the difference between the First Nation Canadian Indians who have been on that land for thousands of years and the Europeans who have been there for hundreds of years. I refer to them both as native for the purpose of that comment. Different from the more recent first generation immigrants within the past 20 years.

Alright, Noted.

Just noticed the context you used it in and thought to correct you.
Native Canadian is a term solely used for the Indigenous people.
Some people can see it as offensive to call a non indigenous person “native”, and even more offensive/racist to call a native person “white”

Just something to keep in mind

I've a bachelor degree in Education/French.
Thank you.
I wrote in my SOP that i am already involved in teaching (Education/French), I am not looking for only theoretical knowledge but also structured exposure to real childcare environments.
Seneca’s emphasis on observation, curriculum planning, and child development aligns directly with the skills I need to become an effective early childhood educator. While my diploma in early childhood Education in seneca deals with hands-on training that will allow me to gain practical experience while working with young children in professional educational settings. I linked my Bachelor’s degree and the diploma together.
I know you just got your admission, but if you know French, you have a good opportunity. You could potentially get your PR before the end of the year. Today's French draw had one of the lowest CRS cut-offs I've seen in a while. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/mandate/policies-operational-instructions-agreements/ministerial-instructions/express-entry-rounds.html

Please take the French test + english also and create an Express Entry profile. You never know you might receive an invitation before the end of the year and it will save you alot of money in the long run............... switching you from international student fee to domestic
