Man Caught Sun Drying Cassava On A Newly Constructed Road In Ibadan by Olofofo247ng(op): 9:14am On Aug 06
Here is a man caught sun drying Cassava on the newly constructed expressway in Ibadan. This has caused a lot of uproar online as some people are criticizing the man and the non-challant attitude of most Nigerians towards basic amenities provided by the government. While some people view it from the hygiene perspective, to some, it is just the safety concern. Other people feel it is normal practice everywhere in Nigeria and it is natural. As a Nigerian, what are your views about this?

Whats wrong with that when the road is not in use.......did the govt provide him with agro processing equipment to dry and grind his cassava........this is a practice that has been in existence since I can remember and it most likely is just about the quantity the poor farmer wants to consume with his family.

Imagine what is coming from somebody’s mouth.
You are displaying this hypocrisy because the road in question was constructed by Makinde who happens to be your master’s enemy

You see how copious you are in irationality, everything is seen through the lens of politics,is it only In oyo state this happens? I will take you to parts of Lagos where you will equally see poor farming households making use of what they have to put food on their table.

You could have as well helped him with some money to take his cassava to the drier that he won't have to resort to the crude method of drying it on the road.....since you don't want makinde's road to grow bad.

Make use of any opportunity you see around you. After all they're not spreading it on the motorable area.

He must have lived in the north at a point. Northerners do this all the time. Pepper 🌶 tomatoes and other grains. Very common over there..

What is bad in sun drying Cassava on the road?
Re: Man Caught Sun Drying Cassava On A Newly Constructed Road In Ibadan by ARISHEM: 9:56am On Aug 06
Cassava won't damage the road.
You win an argument if it's about causing an accident
Re: Man Caught Sun Drying Cassava On A Newly Constructed Road In Ibadan by Sabadon(m): 9:56am On Aug 06
to the people who see nothing bad in this mans actions, if other citizens in developed countries did this how do you think they ll attain the status of "developed"

omo we need total mindset overhaul as citizens.
Re: Man Caught Sun Drying Cassava On A Newly Constructed Road In Ibadan by epainos:
Interesting. Let me be non partial here.

Firstly, the man who made the video is too zealous. I asked for the translation of the video and I realised he was scolding the man for drying cassava on the road because it can destroy the road. Please, how will drying cassava destroy the road? I dont get it oooo. Maybe someone can help me. Or will the cassava get so hot that it will weakened the bitumen? Please, is this the case?

If he had scolded the man that it is not hygienic and one of the reasons cancer is not going to stop killing, I can accept it. Others can say that arent our fore fathers drying before ? But they weren't drying on bitumen na. And there werent dangerous infections and toxins in the environment like we have now.

Also, if he scolded the man that it can cause accident, I agree with him...but what he was about...the man too doesnt understand himself.

So, you see that most Nigerians dont even understand themselves. Lol.

Anyway, its a good thing to stop the habit for many reasons.

Godluck to you all.

Can you apply that reasoning at scale? Okay, the government should provide every farmer with agro processing equipment. From our collective Commonwealth right? Then should it not provide everyone of us with the tools we need for our work as well? And since the government has not provided all of us with the tools we need, why don't we all proceed to vandalise every available public utility for our convenience? Perhaps the dry cleaner too can make use of the road to dry his clothes since the government has not provided him driers.

The black man is truly unlike any other race in thinking patterns.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH SUN DRYING CASSAVA ON THE ROAD??

Nonsense talk!
Re: Man Caught Sun Drying Cassava On A Newly Constructed Road In Ibadan by FILEBE(m): 9:58am On Aug 06
Maybe the poster over reacted , maybe.

Normally, what the man did isn't something that should be allowed en masse. If it continues, that place may just become a market hub for casava sellers and someone will start taxing them for it.

Talk about how we have such menance in Lagos. Market women will leave their store to sell on the main road and always fighting pedestrians and motorist if they happen to pass infront of th store anyhow . A two lane road will now become a one lane

Evidence of lack of farming infrastructure. Government needs to do more to support small scale businesses.

Ask yourself where he was drying the cassava before the road was built. that infrastructure was not meant for that and should not be used for that. Nigerians need orientation on how to maintain Govt infrastructure. don’t support what is wrong.

Why are you people so okay with billions being looted than spent judiciously on the people? What is the collective wealth for if not things like providing in large scales for farmers?

It is not right, old man.

We should not be using a road to dry food on it. It is better our agricultural engineers build drying machinery that could do that comfortbaly off the road.

That people were doing market near the railway lines for as long as I can recall does not mean that it was right either, for example

So it's the government responsibility to provide him with agro processing equipments right?

Nigerians with their entitlement.

The road isn't in use na, and the cassava won't damage the road, Abi there is something we don't know
Politics don damage so many things for this country .
People should be talking about the hygiene not the effect on the road
