As a Christian you tithe so that things won't be tight for you. No matter how small. It is apart from your gifting the poor.
do the tithe gets to the poor?

Never has mission work or the church helping the masses been easy or cheap.

There should be enough FOOD in God's house to cater for his Ministers, local and foreign mission work etc.

I'm not in a position to tell for each church/ Pastor however, a TRUE Christian doesn't sit and watch God's house go empty or hungry as 'humanity'( at least) in you will not be at peace.
Re: The Essence Of Tithing by MaxInDHouse(m): 11:49am On Aug 09
Tithing foreshadowed the payment that true worshipers will pay to our High Priest until the end of 1,000 years it began in the first century when each dedicated servant of God must spend quality time (which is equivalent to money or material possessions) in the preaching and teaching about God's Kingdom.
Jesus as the High Priest understands our condition {Hebrews 4:15} so payment of each person's tithe would be according to whatever your heart compelled you to pay. 2Corinthians 9:7

So what is the tithe mandatory for each worshiper of the true God today?

It's the time we spend PREACHING and TEACHING about God's Kingdom in our neighborhood. Luke 10:1-6

This work will be really difficult for any individual who has material possessions because it involves insults and ridicules from people who are less privileged. Imagine someone who isn't even worth your housemaid insulting you for knocking on his/her door. Matthew 10:14
No wonder Jesus told the young Jewish ruler that all he needs to do is join his disciples to do the work assigned to all faithful people in the endtime of course each person have to put his/her minds off whatever you worth in this system and see yourself as a worthless fellow before you can do the work! Luke 18:22
Today there is only one religious group actively doing this work today and we are doing all our best to pay our tithe to Christ Jesus our High Priest.
We are JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES!🙂

Calvary Greetings Brethren !!!

Just another early morning appetizer to put us in the right spiritual frequency before worship.

The author of sin is the devil and the prime reason Jesus Christ came to earth is to destroy the devil’s work (1 John 3:cool. The devil’s work is the instigate division, poverty and folly among the brethren.

To take away the bond within the body of Christ, that was initiated in Acts 4:32-35.

To erase the mindset of Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, who sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.
To establish the ways of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5.

To make sure that the spirit of the old Saul of Tarsus is at work, to persecute those who want to do the right thing (Acts 7:58b - 9:2).

May the power that possessed the hands of the disciple called Ananias, placed on Saul to be filled with the Holy Spirit, that made scales fall from Saul’s eyes and made him see the true way, possess us this morning. Amen IJCMN.

Breaking the covenant of God, by withholding tithes is unwise. This is what God accused the descendants of Jacob of doing. What belonged to God, they keep for self and they did not even know they were doing wrong.

Malachi 3:8
“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’

Jah Michael x 21

Under a curse, the descendants of Jacob placed themselves. May we never find ourselves under a curse for disobeying God. Amen IJCMN. Let us begin to do Malachi 3:10 and the promises of God in the following verses 10 – 12 shall be our portion. Amen IJCMN.

Why?

We are blessed and we think not of God in the equation? The God who gave us breath to go about our daily shores. This is robbing God. We want peace and the right things to happen in our life? Tithe to the King of righteousness and peace (MELCHIZEDEK - CHRIST) and let the Good Lord do his thing.

Hebrews 7:10
because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor.

When you tithe, it is not only you that is tithing but we are also tithing on behalf of our future generations. Though Abraham tithed, Levi, his unborn grandchild was also tithing. This ACT produces generational blessing.

PRAYER
We will leave our homes this morning and step our feet on the holy ground of our various parishes. As we tithe and give unto the Lord, it shall be return back to us in GOOD MEASURE, pressed down, shaken and running over. Amen IJCMN

God bless Brethren wink
Those who insist on tithing must also insist on animal sacrifice. Christ couldn't have replaced just one and left others.

You people are mixing things up.
Jesus Christ and his disciples practiced Judaism and they definitely must have paid tithe. Tithing is an essential component of Judaism.
Going by Matt 23:23 we can't say for certain that Jesus condemned Tithing.
Now after Christ we can't say for certain if the disciples paid tithe since they formed the new sect which is today called Christianity. Their epistles was silent on tithing.
For me, you pay tithe or not you are not committing a sin.
Jesus that was busy healing people on the sabbath day. Think again

People goes to church but refused to read the bible and understand it very well.
Christianity began from Christ. And there was no record of Jesus Christ or any of his disciples paid any tithe. Tithing is Jewish practice during mosaic law and have nothing to do with salvation
Re: The Essence Of Tithing by imhere: 12:28pm On Aug 09

Bondage to who? Especially, when Christ Said that He did not change The Law knowing that people like you would say that He did.

See, how all of you are exactly like the Israelites in the wilderness?
Christ didn't change it because he didn't make nor give those laws. God who did, and He changed them.

Being like the Israelites in the wilderness is not a bad thing, it's because you have poor understanding of the way that you would presume such.

And that's what Jesus came to do, doing away with the old and coming in with the new. Don't take it personal here. Do a deep thought again.
He was in the temple to teach, chased out people from the temple and so on. (Judaism in play)
Jesus wasn't a Christian, he practiced and lived Judaism. He came to fulfil the law and deliver us from the curses of the law. His death changed everything for us
I won't elaborate further but Jesus practiced Judaism with his disciples and must have paid tithes. Note that, tithing wasn't part of what they accused him during his trial. If he had spoken against it it would have been part of charges against him
Open your mind sir and let's not take it personal.
Re: The Essence Of Tithing by Lifediary: 12:50pm On Aug 09
Well, there are references in the New Testament with regards to tithing within the Jewish religious system, particularly the Levites/priests. But there is no clear example of the Christian church collecting a 10% tithe from Christians.

Paul even taught Christians about giving saying:
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7

The apostles, including Paul, were not recorded collecting tithes from Christians.
They received offerings/support, but the New Testament does not describe them as collecting a 10% tithe.

Please, note this message of Paul to the Christian brethren;

2 Corinthians 8:1–15 (KJV):

1 Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
4 Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
6 Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.
7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
8 I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
10 And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
11 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

Re: The Essence Of Tithing by Lifediary: 1:01pm On Aug 09
A very fair question would then be:

Where does the New Testament command Christians to give exactly 10% of their income to the church, and where do the apostles enforce that command on Christians?

It would be noted that: Paul expected Christians to financially support ministry and help the poor. For example, 1 Corinthians 9:13–14 says those who preach the gospel have a right to live from the gospel.
The distinction is that Paul said: “Give generously, willingly and according to what you have".

It’s better to be spiritual than religious, some people are naturally stingy and they are defending not tithing because they don’t want to spare .

The truth is , Abraham paid tithe , Cain killed Abel because of tithe, so as a spiritual man they will not force you to tithe, if you are a Christian you can use tithe to connect with God , as those men in the Bible did.. they won’t force you , it’s not by force like some pastors are relying on it that you must pay .. but if you decide to do it , you are doing it for God that provide the money or whatever it is for you . 10% to him, the other 90 for you .. it’s a spiritual act that is not meaningful to the mortal man but if you will get the same result of people that have done it . So stop looking for comforting lies to justify your frugality . It’s not a sin if you don’t but once you know the secret, you will understand

You don't seems to understand the topic sef as I already answered the question up there. I'm surprised you didn't get it.
He came to deliver us from the law. Example of such law is not working on sabbath day. Jesus nullified such action with the sabbath day healing. Man is not made for the law. He made the disciples break other laws eh washing of hands before eating, building relationships with the gentiles etc.
Christianity is a modification of Judaism and that's why we have less Jews who are Christians.
