I'm not sure how you can put the blame on Alozie. she's a winger that was converted to a right full back , she's also not bipedal and you put her on the left . She was also tasked with providing attacking width . what do you think will happen , obviously she will struggle and leave a lot of space . Imagine putting oshimen on the wing and saying he didn't perform well, obviously he won't . Everyone could see the way he set up the team , players will struggle .

Madugu OUT.

Never really rated him tactically but I just hated the double-speak and hypocrisy from a lot of peeps who opposed him, hence my support for him.

I mean, if the Madugu critics credit the Mission X WAFCON triumph to the players' quality, grit and determination, then its only right that the players take a large chunk of the blame for the loss to SA and the failure to qualify for the world cup. After all, they're professionals but alas, no one is criticising the players.

Michelle Alozie was terrible this tournament. Easily, our worst player in this WAFCON by my assessment. Dem just dey delete her anyhow in the games we played. She committed fouls, picked up unnecessary cards, leaked her wing like tap and caused goals. There is no bone of technicality, natural flair or football skill in her. She be person wey dem enrol for academy from small, train to play ball and acquired some proficiency in it. Na because of foneh, face card and social media antics, many of una dey foh for am. Ball no dey her body. And no, its not a one-game/one tournament observation. I've felt this way about her since the 2021 Aisha Buhari cup and the 2022 WAFCON when SA knack us.

Chiamaka Nnadozie. Poor judgement, poor anticipation of ball flight, and opposing player run against Malawi to concede the gaols. Against Cameroon, she set up the 5-man defensive wall for the freekick not behind the ball to block the shot but to one side, then still positioned herself behind the wall giving the Cameroon player a free sight to shoot at goal. She still parry the shot enter her net. Lol. Who does that?

Ijamilusi......terrible player. Poor ball control. Always looking confused on the pitch. Never knows how to position herself or what to do with the ball.

Osinachi Ohale, in my opinion has been off it for the past 4 years. Bone don stiff and she no fit run again. Beating her now her is as easy as putting her on 100m race. She's also the biggest culprit for the long balls the team plays from the back cos she's not a ball-playing defender and is not press-resistant. Small press, and she don boot ball forward.

Ordega. ANCESTOR.

Madugu is a poor coach, I agree. He listens to social media chatter, is impressionable and is influenced by football critics/analysts, and that to me is an unforgiveable failing of a coach. A good coach is one who knows his players, their strengths and weaknesses, his strongest 11 and sticks by them even when they falter and I.M.O, our strongest eleven is the team that started the Cameroon game. Despite the loss, that was also the best game we played this WAFCON .

But because dem criticize am when hin lose, hin go start Ancestor Ordega wey ball don leave tey tey. NO balls. No mind of his own. E just be like say make Eric Chelle listen to public opinion and bench Osimhen in the Q/F Algeria game because of the burst-up he had with Lookman against Mauritania.

I still get plenty talk but make I SMS for here. Madugu should just resign or make NFF fire am. Losing to SA is unforgiveable.

I agree with almost everything but the Alozie part. She was played out of position. Against Egypt, yes she was culpable for the 2 goals conceded. Against Zambia she won player of the the match. Against SA, she had no blame for any of the goals, she even had two goal attempts that were saved. Of course, Madugu has to resign or get fired but to your point, I will never agree with the double speak too.

This is even coming from an FB person o. Rinsola, Jennifer had good playing time at the tournament. Can't understand why Esther didn't get much game time tbh. At the end of the day, the coach has failed and that's not up for debate.

This is another part of the Waldrum conversation many just ignore. This guy literally worked without pay for almost 2 years and we didn't hear him complain until they attempted to touch his squad list and he just opened the flood gates on other issues including the non payment of his renumeration.

You won't find another coach of his pedigree willing to do that.

Let me update you guys….

U20 are currently in Camp for the World Cup in Poland 🇵🇱

The Coach complained about the bad training pitch at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja, instead of the NFF to do the needful they took the girls to Abuja Stadium 😂😂😂😂

What happened to the era of taking the team on a Training Camp abroad to a country similar to the host country for the players to get acclimatized with the weather conditions and everything??

Omor this NFF board need to go…. They gave us this dirty Madugu that made the SuperFalcons miss out on the World Cup..

Anywhere the head goes the body follows, so if Madugu one part of the body is to go, let the head themselves go as well…

Baba, I can at least admit that some criticism of Madugu went over the edge, but the vast majority of us who criticised him were objective in our assessment. Absent the noise from detractors, if you guys engaged on the merit and not just the need to be contrarian you would have seen reason with us.

I personally attribute the success of the last WAFCON to the system Randy built and the grit of the players considering a championship was going to be historic. It was a result I believed the players got in spite of the coach. This I believe 100%. But I also was gracious to recognise accrue that success to him. As much as I believed the aforementioned, I rarely brought it up in arguments but stuck to footballing metrics to make my case (as did many others) for why I believed he wasn't the right coach for the team. Go through previous threads you'll never see me not give him credit for the WAFCON win even though I believe it happened in spite of him because he inherited a prepared team and a bunch of motivated players.

That said, I need to address the argument itself on its merit. First, those against Madugu as coach very rarely bring up his WAFCON title. We often lead with other footballing arguments to make our case. It is those pro-Madugu who almost always bring it up as proof that he's either a good coach or that he's better than Randy Waldrum since Randy never won it. This then leads to a retort that he wasn't really consequential to the win in the first place.

When we say a coach is poor and the team got result in spite of him, we are not arguing that he didn't have input to the team. He obviously had training sessions, was responsible for choosing the roster and lineup, making in game adjustments etc. That isn't the argument being made like most assume. The argument is that his contributions all things being equal isn't consequential enough to have changed anything.

The simplest example I can use to illustrate this is the Disposition of Nigerians to the country Nigeria. Most Nigerians believe (and rightly so) that Nigeria has done little in their quest for success. Most have had to go through extremely difficult circumstances and terrible odds to make it in this country. So when they say, "Nigeria did nothing for me" they mean that in the sense of a system being intentional in ensuring the success of her citizenship. This however doesn't mean that Nigeria has made no contribution at all to their success. They probably went to public universities (however terrible they are) and enjoyed education subsidy. They enjoy some semblance of infrastructure (electricity, road etc), however terrible they are. They enjoyed some form of petrol subsidy even though they still had to pay for the most part to power their businesses and home with alternative electricity.

So the point being made when we argue against Madugu isn't that he made no comment contributions, but that his contributions aren't consequential in the scheme of things. Sadly some see objective arguments like this as not being pro local coaches or local players and this frames how they approach the conversation.

I disagree with your take on Alozie. Yes she didn't start the tournament well as did many other players. But she grew into her role and I dare say was one of our best players the last 2 game. She was in my opinion fantastic yesterday.

The lapses you mentioned is because of the role she has to play and sadly the tactical deficiency didn't help to conver for it. Alozie's role necessitates that she overlaps a lot as she contributes a lot to our attacking schemes. You can rewatch the game and you'll see a lot of our attacking possessions yesterday came from many of the runs she made. That isn't a problem at all. It is the responsibility of the coach to factor the space she leaves in and ask for someone else to cover up for her when that happens. That however wasn't the case. So the blame is not in her at all.
Lovewins, as always, your contribution brings much-needed rationality to these sorts of debate which are often guided by emotions and sentiments. I also fancy your analogy comparing Madugu’s tenure to the systemic realities of the Nigerian state. But personally, I still think you may be giving Madugu too much grace here with what he did to this team. I wasn't fooled one bit by the WAFCON win. We've won the African Women's Championship 11 times already before Madugu took full control of the team. You say his inputs possessed little to no consequence, I'd say his inputs, especially starting from the semi-finals of the last WAFCON we won, were actively destructive to the players. When (a) you don't have a coherent coaching philosophy that players can learn and stick to, (b) you don't even have a stable starting 11 and you keep switching up in every game, not allowing players to settle into certain roles and (c) when you pair players with other players they don't gel with or play players out of position, you're actively making things difficult for these players and increasing their workload, all the while disrupting their focus and affecting their decisiveness with your senseless "go! go! go!" barking from the sidelines.

Which brings me to the Michelle Alozie bit. It's unfortunate that people can't see how this poor girl was set up for failure before the tournament even started. Any coach who does basic player scouting would have realized how ill-advised it was to keep deploying Alozie as a left-back, which is a role in which she has historically struggled in and clearly lacks natural positional instincts.
As a right-footed, attack-minded fullback, playing on the left severely restricts her body shape, field vision, and passing angles. Alozie’s primary strengths lie on the right side, where she can overlap, combine in wide areas, or cut inside to deliver dangerous deliveries into the box. By forcing her onto the left flank without instructing a central midfielder or center-back to shift over and plug the gap during transitions, Madugu stranded her on a defensive island. And people are surprised she looked awful this tournament? No kidding! What do you expect taking a fish out of its fish tank?

I'd also like to note that calling for complete NFF accountability and highlighting atrocious coaching are not mutually exclusive. Both statements are simultaneously true. The current NFF leadership is an administrative cancer. Assembling camp barely two weeks before a major tournament - when key rivals had over a month of preparation - and starving the squad of high-profile warm-up friendlies is pure institutional and logistical negligence. Not only did they frustrate Randy out of his job, they also exposed and accelerated the failure of coaches like Finidi and Madugu (however tactically inept they were) by failing to put proper preparation in place. This doesn't excuse Madugu. He's still tactically inept either way and we deserve better. The girls deserve better.

You don't need $500k to hire a world class coach for the super falcons. You need maximum $200k to get it done. You'll even get multiple options for a little less than that.

The past and current Moroccan coach earned about $200k too. That gives you an idea of the going rate of coaches of that calibre.

Also, there's no world where the NFF can afford to pay 500k for a falcons coach. They struggle to do that for the super eagles coach talk less then falcons. They should go find $120k-$150k coach with the promise of prompt payment. That's a lot more realistic in my opinion.

The worst thing Nigeria could do is get involved in a discussion of "we would have won if X or Y started". Swap in your favourite player and the result doesn't change. All tournament we have been chopping and changing. The problem lies deeper than that.

$120k/$150k for this era?

Then we’re not ready at all.. except they’re going to employ an Ex-SuperFalcons international as Coach or a Randy Waldrum type.!

If Nigeria really need a World Class A-Level Coach then $250k and above at least ohh
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 10:47pm On Aug 14
Let's even address the wickedness by the NFF over salaries owed Waldrum that year. I think that era, he said 14months salary was owed. Instead of the NFF guys to bury their heads in shame, they came out to be doing "na lie. It's not 14. It is lower" back and forth.

Such issues over Africa women's most successful team!!

But Mohammed Sanusi, rumored to be taking $10k that year was getting his own alert without interruption to the rhythm of payment.

These guys are collecting pay without doing anything worth it. We can't even see quality sponsorship for this team. This team has some terrible publicity. We didn't milk the publicity from the last world cup atallllll.

Then the Presidency that promised the players $100k each..... Till now no solid conclusion if that has been paid all or na carpet cover mata.

Fine! They got revenue issues. But that is why they need to work harder to drag in sponsors and all. Two gigantic teams in one country and nff can't even get sponsorship like the kind Japan and England are getting?

NFF should be paying any coach 20k/month by now for womens and 250k/year. That's fair.

The Super Falcons will be away to Comoros for a 2028 Olympic qualifier on October 5; with the 2nd leg holding on October 13…

If the Super Falcons defeat Comoros, they will meet either Morocco or Congo Republic, in the 3rd round between February 23 - March 6…

Overall, there will be 5 rounds of qualification matches, in the CAF zone, which will end between November 23 - December 4, 2027. Here, TWO teams will qualify to represent Africa at the Olympics.

If #TheNFF board, as a whole, refuse to resign, after making a dog’s breakfast of Nigerian football over the last four years, the federal government should cut off all funding to the federation and deny them the use of any publicly-owned sports facility until they do so. It’s as simple as that.

Can you name one player in that team with better interception rate, pass accuracy (especially long passes) and work rate than Alozie in this tournament? Just one.

What you guys don't understand about Alozie is that she's not a full back or a defensive player at heart. She's not the player you can count on to be in the right position to defend dangerous chances. She's a playmaker that intercepts the ball at a defensive midfielder's depth and sets up attacking opportunities with accurate passing. Similar playing style as Arnold

Lastly, that idea of defend your wing, is not emphasized in modern football. That a scoring chance came from the left wing does not necessarily mean that the left back is responsible for that.
