NNPCL Refinery: Explain How $3b Was Spent In 2024 – Rufai Oseni Tells Tinubu by adenigga(op): 3:16am On Aug 15
Arise Television anchor, Rufai Oseni has called on President Bola Tinubu to explain to Nigerians how $3 billion was spent on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, refinery in Port Harcourt.

Speaking during Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, Rufai criticised the Nigerian government regarding the ‘inconsistent’ claims surrounding the refinery’s revitalisation.

He highlighted a contradiction where President Tinubu congratulated the NNPCL on the refinery’s successful operation in 2024 but is now claiming that it would work again.

Rufai questioned the effectiveness of the $3 billion spent on the turnaround maintenance, suggesting that the money may have been wasted or mismanaged.

He demanded transparency and a full accounting of how the $3 billion was utilised.

His remarks stemmed from the statement of the President during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he said the NNPC refinery will come back to work.

“I don’t want to be dramatic, but Nigeria will make you mad as a human being. If you try to see what the government does in this country, you will go mad.

“As of the 26th of September 2024, president Tinubu congratulated the NNPC on the successful revitalisation of the Port Harcourt refinery.

“Today the president is saying the same refinery that he extended his congratulations on, will work again. So it didn’t work when he extended his congratulations? You see, they have made this country a joke.

“President Tinubu, as the father of the nation, before anything, we must know how that $3 billion was spent.

“After you spent $3 billion on the turnaround maintenance for a refinery, you said it worked in 2024, Today you are saying it will work again? No,” Rufai said.

I recall when sane Nigerians pointed out the various inconsistencies that pointed to a refinery that was not functioning the way the government was saying.

They were hounded and insulted.

$3bn down the drain, who is going to be held accountable for such waste of public funds?

When smart and sane Nigerians were calling out the fraud by the government, their urchins, Helinues, Yarimo, FSBoperator were here constituting nuisance. Now it is clear $3B have gone down the drain.

Tinubu will jet out to borrow one billion dollars from IMF while wasting three billion dollars at home.
What a calamitious disaster of a President. So much for the builder of Lagos.

Well said

The kind of damages these guys have done eh

Imagine $3bn without direction?

The amount of wasted money is more than enough to make this country great but instead they prefer to use it to import runs girl from faraway country, rent a private jet & be massaging the leg of a gal small enough to be their grand daughter. Wasting our resources anyhow while their keyboard warriors on 30k salaries keeps singing their praises on social media

The truth is that corruption has grown a deep root in the Nigerian system, and you become the enemy when you try to curb it. Even a corrupt man will be insulted when he doesn't improve in engaging in more corrupt activities. Lol.

What I am just hoping for is that he completes Lagos - Sokoto Calabar and Lagos - Calabar Coastal roads. Then, more companies tap into battery production since we have a lithium factory here. Also, if the vision of manufacturing solar panels that happen fast here. God blesses one...one should just buy a home in Eko Atlantic, Alaro City, or Jigna. I believe there are other places too.

We have star-link, so, no wahala. Our banking isnt bad, and then, one can easily use crypto currency to safe some in dollars or even invest in dollars. One can even invest in any stock or trade anything from any country living anywhere in the world now.

With the above, I am OK. The only issue is the health part, and seriously, one still needs to find a way to go out and check himself. However, the best initiative is stsrting one's organic garden to produce: organic meat, eggs, veggies, roots, etc. Then, if one can produce organic grains, organic oil (red and non red), etc.

Nigeria won't be a bad place to live. As in, one will maintain his lane, travel out when needed, and live a peaceful life.

Otherwise like Oseni has said, you go run mad if you dey look at werin dey happen in this naija.

Goodluck to you all.

They always feel Nigerian are foools.....

I remember how many of them were celebrating here even when the villagers were telling the whole world that nothing was happening there.

That singular incident is why I'm so convinced that TINUBU Will NEVER ACHIEVE ANY MEANINGFUL THING IN THIS HIS GOVERNMENT.

IF YOU ARE STILL DOUBTING ME, PLEASE KINDLY HELP HIM TO TELL US WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE PORT HARCOURT REFINERY AFTER THAT JAMBOREE?

Funny to see how Tinubu and his minister of information now try to push the blame on Buhari when Bayo Onanuga and even Tinubu himself widely publicised that the refineries are now functional and took credit. They even mocked Obasanjo about it and sponsored several journalists to the site who all helped to echo their propaganda. But propaganda has a very short lifespan.

Really?
You mean the president of this nation does not owe the citizens an explanation as to how a humongous amount of money was spent, money that could have been utilized in setting up several modular refineries.
You are pathetic.

To see people coming online and on TV to support APC shows that something is definitely wrong with most Nigerians.

If Nigerians knew the amount of damage APC has done to Nigeria, you would weep for the country.

They just want everybody to keep quiet while they continue to wreak havoc on the country.

Nigerians, it’s time to take back your country.

Smoke and flames 🔥 doesn't mean the refinery is working ~tinubu, 2026

tinubu said the $3b was spent for bringing smoke and flames in our refineries.

What else is Rufai looking for?
