Dangote Refinery’s First Equity Raise Oversubscribed 3.7 Times
Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals (DPRP)’s first equity capital raise involving new investors beyond its legacy owners, was oversubscribed 3.7 times.

This was revealed on Thursday 14 August 2026 via a statement by the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), which had led a group of strategic investors in the milestone $2.5 billion private placement.

The latest investment further deepens AFC’s enduring partnership with the Dangote Group, involving some of Africa’s most massive industrial projects.

AFC had previously served as Co-Coordinating Bank for a $3 billion syndicated loan for DPRP; it also recently received full repayment of its foundational $300 million senior term loan to Dangote Industries Limited, which supported the refinery’s development from the concept stage.

Speaking on the private placement, AFC President and CEO Samaila Dalhat Zubairu said the corporation’s participation reflect its unflinching confidence in Dangote refinery as one of Africa’s most significant industrial assets.

The capital raise comes as the Dangote Group works towards its plan to raise the refinery’s capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028.

I doubt. Just call him a smart, govt favoured and successful businessman. You cant call someone who was gifted with low exchange rate when he was importing machineries for his refinery, with average Nigerians bearing the consequences a blessing. Now his project is complete and all what was painted for us was about how it will benefit common man hasn't materialized.

It depends on your perspective.
Imagine if there was no Dangote refinery at this moment. Nigerians would have seen "shege" in the hands of Mele Kyari and his NNPC co-travellers; and this US-Iran war would have been a perfect opportunity for them to milk Nigerians dry using the excuse to sell petrol at N3000 per liter.
Just thank God that Dangote refinery came at the right time 😎

PDP deregulation and privatisation experts were a blessing to our country for licensing the refinery as part of the 2012 subsidy removal scheme, which APC propagandist liars played politics with.

It hasn't really benefited the common masses when it comes to fuel and diesel prices but it has helped to stabilise the naira.

Personally I think Dangote is sabotaging this government because tell me how he is sourcing 90% of his oil locally and also producing it here but fuel and diesel prices are above #500. Same thing he did with cement price.

Meanwhile, any idea why useless APC leaders have failed to crash petrol price to N70 that they said it should NEVER go above when they were busy importing terrorists to destroy Nigeria before Tinubu asked Buhari to make Jonathan a one term president huh

This is pure lie
Not all big men children ends up been rich.
With all favours either from government or family, you still need your own knowledge to succeed. Or do you think Dangote is the only Nigerian that has been favoured by the government? Where are others?
Helping you to succeed doesn't mean you have no senses of yours, it simply means I saw the senses in you and I just helped to make it materialise by helping you

How is N1,450 stabilised the exchange rate when it was lower than N200 when A-looter Propaganda Conmen, APC said they had positive change in stock for us 11 years ago?

Can you please make this make sense.

If there was no Dangote refinery, we would have been flooded with fuel supplies from NNPC refineries that have been producing since 2015, a year before the first subsidy removal by APC balablu bulaba empty barrel politicians.

Did they not tell us that one of the NNPC refineries started exporting fuel in December 2024 huh

You will have the opportunity to buy the shares during the Initial Public Offering (IPO).

The Private Placement was primarily for institutional investors and very high net worth individuals.

The APC "looters" deserve another 4 years in government to enable us continue enjoying the Dangote magic without the interference of the Atikulooters.
