Hello all, please I need help with this question.

I submitted a study permit application together with spouse SOWP.

My spouse will need a medical exam, given she answered yes to staying 6 months in listed country.

However, the "Request for Medical Exam Form" Did not show up, despite answering all the necessary questions correctly.

Do we not need medicals?
If we do, what is the solution for the missing form if application is already submitted

You can raise a technical issue request and see what feedback you get or just go and do upfront medical and send the e medical sheet via webform.

Please if I’m out of the country, can my spouse and I submit our passports in 2 different countries once we receive passport requests?

Also, does vfs Lagos allow someone to submit passport on behalf of their spouse?

I will be starting my Masters degree on a scholarship of $20,000 per year in Manitoba by January 2026 if my study permit is approved. I will be getting married by July (2025) and I was hoping to start my visa application after I'm married to be able to show in my application that I'm married. My spouse is still currently a student in Nigeria and would be finishing her study by August 2026. My plan and wish is that she would be able to come on SOWP immediately after she's done. I'm just trying to get it right and know what is possible and what is not possible; also, what to be done and what not. What do I need to do in my own application in Nigeria before travelling? More so, what do I need to do when I get to Canada (if my study permit is approved)? Is it feasible for my spouse to join me on SOWP immediately after she's done with her study? In all, any advise on how I can make this possible.

1. If you chose to do upfront medicals, you should have indicated that in your responses when you filled the questionnaire on this Gckey portal. The clinic would give you a slip after the medical examination and this is what you upload to the GCkey portal before submission of your application.

2. Same goes for the PCC, it’s the responses to the questionnaire that provides where and what documents to upload afterwards.

P:S
-Some TR applicants( work permits, study, visit etc) do not need PCC, be sure you really need it.

I am not sure you can covert visit visa into work permit inside, do well to confirm this. Also, you need to be sure your spouse job’s teer qualifies you for a work permit (SOWP).

Albeit, if all eligibilities are met, I think applying from outside might be straightforward, processing time from Nigeria was 9weeks as at few days ago.

Secondly, I have some money in my gtmutual fund. now, my salary acct is Access bank, I decided to be saving part of my salary in gtb, later I was introduced to gtmoney market, so i just transferred my savings from the gtb to the gtmoney market. can I use the investment acct or I should send back all the money to my salary acct which is access bank. Then how do i structure the prof of the money. Plz help me. This has been giving me concern.

Your salary account is a strong proof of your employment, which counts that you are economically established. It is advisable to tender all your accounts and explain large lump sums in your SOP. For a Family of 5, anything above 40m is good. But ensure you give a documented trail of the source of the funds.

Your Work Reference Letter from your HR should Confirm your employment details, such as : Date employed, current salary, job position, duties and responsibilities, benefits, and job terms and conditions. It should be addressed as "To Whom It May Concern".

From the current processing times, applying from Nigeria is swift , 7 weeks, compared to Inland Applicants. The wait is in months (about 4 months).

I chose university with more than 16 months courses because of my husband (SOWP).

We have resulted to going for University of Canada West, do we have anyone that is currently in this Uni or that attended this Uni. I'd like to check with him or her, the culture of the school and if we have chosen the right path

Note that University Canada West is in Vancouver, BC. After Toronto, Vancouver is the second most expensive city in Canada. There is also tough Provincial Immigration Pathways in BC. University of Niagara Falls is a Private University. It will limit your chances of getting PR via OINP. Hence, I will suggest you look into Trent University which is in Peter-borough, also in Ontario but a smaller city, less expensive and a Public University. My suggestion is from the point of view of PR. However, from the point of view of Employ-ability, Vancouver is No. 1 out of the 3 cities where you can find Tech Jobs.

I school in Victoria BC, which is close to the mainland and I also have some friends in UCW. If your goal is to get PR during or after school, I wouldn't advise you to come to BC because of strict PNP and very expensive cost of living.
Ontario is your best bet. Especially if your partner will be working while you school. With the new OINP stream in Ontario, your partner need just 6 months of full time job to qualify.
That could be a game changer for you.

Thank you so much my brother.God bless you.The issue of that POF is what is really confusing us.Since she don't need to show a particular amount as a POF because is already working in Alberta Canada,then she should go ahead to submit our PR application as soon as possible, and forget about Spouse open work permit route.

Showing POF will depnds on the program under which she got her invitation.

CEC- No need to show POF-- Emplyment details and payslip is enough
Other programs like FWS-inland, trade and non-CEC will still need to show settlement funds.
