LouisdeFrance:Told you a million times, I am NOT Igbo! So this doesn't concern me! But if I were Igbo and any such rapes and coercive sex actually happened the last thing I'd do is going around posting about it and reminding people about it by constantly saying how proud I was to be product of such! Meanwhile, DiarisGodoo he is LYING as usual. LIAR! LIAR!! LIAR!!!. See the true context of the photo he posted below Commonsense ought have told him people didn't dress like this durring transatlantic slave trade!

# Okonkwo: The Big Man and His Little People In the heart of Umuofia, power did not just walk; it stamped. It breathed heavily, spoke in the language of fists, and accumulated yams like a god collecting sacrifices. This was the world of Okonkwo—the self-made colossus who cast a long, terrifying shadow over everyone in his compound. To the village, he was the ultimate "Big Man." But a shadow cannot exist without the light, and a tyrant cannot exist without the compliance of the crowd. Look closely at Okonkwo’s story, and you will see it is not just a tragedy about a proud warrior. It is a cautionary tale about the "little people"—the wives, the children, and the fearful neighbors—who inadvertently feed the monster of corruption by placing their faith in mortal flesh rather than the Almighty. ### The Cult of the Earthly Giant In traditional societies, the line between earthly authority and spiritual deity often becomes dangerously blurred. When a community loses its anchor in the true living God, it naturally seeks out human substitutes. Okonkwo became one of those substitutes. The little people around Okonkwo did not just respect him; they worshiped his success. They looked at his three wives, his overflowing yam barns, and his prestigious titles, and they treated him with a reverence that should be reserved for the Divine alone. They sought his favor, trembled at his anger, and molded their lives around his volatile moods. This is the classic trap of humanity: when we stop fearing God, we begin to fear men. We look up to the wealthy and the powerful, hoping that a crumb of their earthly glory will fall into our laps. We treat the "Big Man" as a gatekeeper to prosperity, forgetting that true blessing and breath come only from the Creator. ### How Fear Feeds Corruption The tragedy of Umuofia’s little people is that their unwillingness to have absolute faith in God directly allowed Okonkwo’s domestic corruption to thrive. Consider his household. Okonkwo ruled his compound with an iron rod because he knew no one would stop him. His wives accepted his unwarranted beatings in silence. His children suppressed their tears and altered their personalities just to avoid his wrath. Even when Okonkwo broke the sacred Week of Peace—a time meant to honor the divine earth goddess—the initial reaction of those around him was driven by a fear of *Okonkwo's* anger, rather than a pure devotion to the divine order. By bowing down to his tyranny, the little people enabled him. Their silence was a vote of confidence in his brutality. They lacked the spiritual courage to stand up and say, *"You are just a man made of dust. We fear the Lord, not you."* Because they placed their survival in his hands instead of God’s hands, they became complicit in the very system that oppressed them. ### Shifting the Fear to Whom it is Owed Okonkwo’s life ultimately collapsed because a human being cannot sustain the weight of being a god. When the British colonial forces arrived, the illusion of the Igbo "Big Man" shattered overnight. The little people realized that their earthly idols could not save them from a changing world. The deep spiritual lesson hidden within Okonkwo's downfall is a timeless one. Human corruption grows in the soil of human cowardice. When a society chooses to fear a mortal leader more than they fear God, they inherit a fractured world. True freedom begins when the little people look past the earthly giants, lift their eyes to the heavens, and remember that there is only one Throne worthy of absolute surrender. When we give our awe to God alone, the "Big Men" of the world lose their power to terrify us. *** **What do you think?** Does modern society still create "Big Men" like Okonkwo, and are we still guilty of worshiping them? Let’s discuss in the comments below.

Why the "Little People" Still Silent OurselvesAs i beautifully pointed out, human cowardice feeds corruption. In modern times, people still fall into this trap for the same reasons as the characters in Umuofia: Fear of Being Left Out: We worry that if we stand up to the powerful, we will lose our jobs, our social status, or our comfort. The Illusion of Safety: It is often easier to let a strong, loud figure make all the rules because it frees us from the responsibility of thinking and standing firm on our own principles. Misplaced Faith: Just as you wrote, when people stop anchoring their lives in a higher spiritual truth or a rock-solid moral code, they naturally start looking for a human "giant" to protect them. |

Men have been talking care of children that they didn’t birth since forever. Lots of men married single mothers and became step fathers, adopted kids, are guardians to many kids etc. But these men are doing it with clear eye, without deception. Banning DNA testing is wrong because it gives women the legal armour of concealing their promiscuity, which is very unhealthy in an institution such as marriage that requires trust and established paternity. Government will not do that, and if they do, they will just create more problems than the problem they are trying to solve. Now let’s assume government actually banned DNA testing, then be guaranteed than most men will Discard marriage. They may have a child with you, but at least it is only in marriage that a child can be automatically assigned to her husband as the father. Under cohabitation, that is not done. So you see, you’ll create more problems than what you’re trying to solve. Women should close their legs when married, and this issue is solved. |

pansophist:Mr pansophist, respectfully, you totally misunderstand the thread. We are talking about a TEENAGER of 13 or so whom the dad has raised since birth! The idea is to discourage husbands from unnecessarily suddenly going for expensive DNA tests but rather focus their time and resources on raising the child to adulthood - after which they can do all the DNA they want! --------- Fiscus105, Jmichael1, Diamond098454, immortalcrown, papiSNEH, Goo0dHardDick, CanadaOrBust, OperationalVehi, DeltaBachelor, Dogalmighty17, LordIsaac, Dghold, ekukeku, motymop:Sonnobax15, franchasng, ogolemati, UkoAnnang, correctguy101, pocohantas, tuoyoojo, judewrites, helinues, mikeapollo, MarketDispatch, Righteousness2, DeepSight, EmmyMaestro, Nicotinekills, Ashirioluwa, Abas01, LordReed, Konijunkie, Lalami3232, Federalofficia, Ishilove, DMCA, CoolUsername, Secretbloodline, igwethompson854, joseph1832, blaise26abj, Denver88, SMT042, addictiv, bentenny, GenFunction, CzarChris, tundebasic, FxMasterz, Naupak, Flangelo12 atheistconverta, mrpresident1, NSNO Hmmmmm2024, villagerspeople, echoxyz, Dogalmighty17, Evercurious, Codes151, ayo84, ednut1, Ahmed4u1, sentientsoul, Chemist4life, crowniran, AngeloX, strong8kIPTV, Taal17, Bossman, Goodness081, internationalman, Jannyfranc, mamaafrik, ADUBA1, Cj4charles, WatchYourSix, Exousiang01, Magnetic010, Amovingman, SatanIsAllah, Parachoko, femi4, KIDfurniture, themanderon, tundebasic, obacasmir, DiarisGodoo, alshalz, Iyobaba, Oakenshield, farano, Rocktation, |

LouisdeFrance:@bolded, what a ridiculous statement. Wipe who out? This guy thinks US is the world! I've told you before, your hypersensitivity to skin colour is because you are from US and have never been out of US. Also you are a Louisiana Creole - a result of rape or sexual coercion that was entirely based on colour (of African women by European men, mostly slavers). Ukraine and Russia are wiping out each other and they're all white, Rwandan genocide, they were all black, Palestinians hate Jews and they all same colour, etc. Here in Nigeria it is all about tribe and hardly anyone notices your skin colour! Naupak: Flangelo12:He's lying as usual. It is easy to tell that the Moors were dark-skined. Photography was only invented in the 19th century while Moorish rule in Europe ended way back in 1400s. But there were paintings, and more importantly sculptures - because sculptures are difficult to alter. Also contemporary writings by people alive then. NONE of the art or writings from that era showed ANY Moor as the pictures he displayed. Moors, wherever they might have come from, were dark-skinned! **Note his LYING photograph of Onitsha slave trade below - taken before photography was invented! Diamond098454:Some Black Africans pushing colorism in the Black Community? Here is a Darkskin African guy, who literally puts on Women Makeup, to make himself lighter pretending to be a "lightskin man" acting feminine, to say this is How lightskin men act. And got the black African woman to join in. Also read the comments. I've seen several videos of black Africans disrespecting Lightskin men features. Destiny Swapping.

Black means evil, dirty, corrupt and darkness. It is a spiritual term dark skinned isn't black. To use the term in reference to one's identity invokes the spiritual meaning of black. Call them by their father's names and this is my just for you in the sight of Allah. |
