How old are you, and level of your education, bro? You do realize your pastors and GO's go for medical treatments in the hospitals, right? You know accident victims are rushed to hospitals, not churches or mosques, for a reason.
Yes I know bro, but that does not rule out the healing power in the name of Jesus Christ. That does not negates the fact the God's word is medicine to man's flesh.
I do not dismiss your idea as wrong, yet we cannot dismiss God's power also.

In the course of this teaching I heard this very words come out of my mouth, " Concerning the Holy Ghost, my people are fixated on the ability, not the purpose."

I weep for many who are only fixated on the ability and not the purpose for which the Holy Ghost was sent. If the purpose of a thing is not known then abuse is inevitable. Growing up I listened in to a TV commercial by Michellen Tyers that says "power is nothing without control." Put somewhat differently, the enduement of the Holy Ghost would profit you nothing without the knowledge of the things of God. Having the power without the knowledge of its purpose is like having teeth to bite and to chew without a mouth.

I'm not downplaying power. Neither am I taking from the scripture. The question is what is the purpose of the power? To speak in tongues? No. To make you shake and have sensation? No.
The power comes with the evidence of speaking in tongues but that is only the beginning not the end. The final purpose of the Holy Spirit is to make you have knowledge in the things of God. 1Corinthians 2 vs 12 put it well, "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God."
no boss, I wasn't referring to you.

Not all prophets performed signs and wonders. But Elijah and Elisha did. Moses did. You can't say old prophets never performed signs. Everyone is given grace in certain areas whether new or old.
God only give such gifts to Israelites so when Jesus walked the earth he focused only on Israelites because they are the people who needs to have the gift before they can be convinced that the Christ whom the prophet wrote about is with them! Matthew 15:24

But if you feel different please mention one single person who is not Israelites yet given the power to perform miracle.

oga stop downplaying power. You want to take away the power in Jesus knowing fully well that with power you can penetrate the heart of men that have been hardened. You want to speak with mere words. You people try to use persuasive words thinking it will help.
We never perform any miracles but it's only Jehovah's Witnesses that are making real disciples who are actively preaching and teaching throughout the world others don't have the spirit to live material things behind and engage in the work Jesus assigned to his disciples.
What do you think made that possible? Act 1:8😟

You can't be said to.be completely true witnesses of Christ Jesus if you can't do those signs which He did and Christ Jesus said, more than these shall be done. Whether you believe it or not, it's up to you. If you say it's inserted in the Book of Mark, so you mean to say all those performing the signs and miracles are just doing a theatrical performance or by what power do.you think it's been done!!!!huh?
Such power is restricted only among the Israelites but if you feel different you can mention just one none Israelites who performed a miracle in Bible times!🙂

Why not ask the question
"Give me the name of one American or French man in the Bible"?

SMH!!

I can understand why Acts 1:8 has never once been your experience

You are speaking a dimension of power which is knowledge as power in the spirit has several dimension such as knowledge, healing , prophesy and breakthrough, but knowledge is foundation of every power .so referring to act I verse 8 as talking about power of knowledge alone is not complete interpretation.peter said silver and Gold I do not have but in the name of Jesus arise , The man displayed healing power there and when he preached and thousands converted he displayed knowledge power . interpretation of bible is not exclusively to one person .

Because they were the one that carried the promise of Abraham's seed and custodians of the covenants. Until the Messiah came and everything extends to the gentiles.
And get this, the Holy Spirit came on prophets of old as need be. The Holy Spirit dwells permanently now in believers even if you're a gentile. Ability to work miracles is not anout ethnicity.
Re: Acts 1:8 Is Not About Power - It's About Knowledge by PROPHETmichael: 3:19pm On Aug 30
YOUNG MAN STOP TWISTING THE GOSPEL AND LOCK YOURSELF IN YOUR ROOM AND PETITION HEAVEN FOR POWER.

Acts 1:8 does not say, “You shall receive knowledge.” It says, “You shall receive POWER, when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”

Knowledge informs the mind, but power transforms lives. Knowledge can tell you what God said; the Holy Spirit empowers you to become a living witness of what God has done.

The apostles already had knowledge. What they were commanded to wait for was power from on high.

Knowledge can explain the fire. Power makes you burn.

Knowledge gives you information. Power gives you manifestation.

Knowledge can teach you about the Witness. Power makes you a witness.

STOP REDUCING Acts 1:8 to intellectual enlightenment. Jesus was not promising a classroom. He was promising an encounter with the Holy Spirit that would produce bold, supernatural witness.

The prophecy was not, “You shall receive knowledge and become witnesses.”
It was: “You shall receive POWER… and you shall be MY WITNESSES.”

The church does not need another generation that merely knows about the fire.
We need a generation that carries it.

Acts 1:8 is not the funeral of power.
It is the birth announcement of power.

To be a Christian without power is to be a Jehovah witness without knowing. The world is tired of cho cho cho just like it was tired back then. Show to the world that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

There is no knowledge under the heaven that Satan does not know but what he lacks is power. No wonder the son of man screamed....ALL POWER HAS BEEN GIVEN UNTO ME, IN HEAVEN AND IN EARTH" ACTS 28:18

There were thousands of none Israelites who converted to become worshipers of God in ancient times but none was given the privilege of perform any miracle.
So that gift was exclusively for Israelites.

You're not far from the truth brother. Note that I'm not in any way dismissing the dynamic power of the gifts of the Spirit, rather I'm speaking to the purpose of the Holy Ghost. According to the principle of finality, a thing a have several uses but cannot have more than purpose. The kitchen knife in some instance could be use as a screw driver but that is not the purpose.

Jesus said you shall receive the Holy Ghost and shall be witnesses unto me

This is as ridiculous as it gets.
The Corinthian church were gentiles and they had manifestations of the nine gifts of the Spirit so much they had to be cautioned to use it responsibly.

Today true Christians have the NEEDED gifts to make REAL disciples that is not what we are saying but for members of the Christian congregation to perform supernatural acts for outsiders to notice has never been given to anyone who is not an Israelite.
The gift true Christians have till today is written in the Bible book of Galatians 5:22-23 but for noticable supernatural gifts ọmọ God has never given it to a none Israelite!🙂

Pharisees surely made disciples but the ones that goes about carrying weapons to fight and kill their neighbors in the name of POLITICS and RACISM.

Real disciples make disciples that are known globally to be wise as serpent and harmless as dove. Matthew 10:16

Galatians 5 is about the fruits of the Spirit, not the gift.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11 talks about the gifts.
In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek. Gal 3:28.
The power gifts are given for witnessing to the gospel according to God's manifold grace.

Alright, following your skewed rules

There are hundreds of thousands of Israelites from the tribe of Reuben and Simeon.

Can you find just one Israelite from the tribe of Reuben and Simeon that did any miracles in the Bible?

Can you see how illogical your question is.
Sorry!

Of course the gifts of God's holy spirit will produce those fruits and the whole world will testify to the fact that a certain religious group has been exemplary globally. John 13:34-35

As for gifts that produces no fine fruits that is what Jesus said he doesn't know! Matthew 7:21-23

You can have the gift and fail to produce the fruits if you're not cautious.
Check the Book of Revelation, the churches were cautioned for varying degrees of error. It doesn't mean they were not of God.

You're absolutely right brother. Even the church at Corinth, Paul in his letter to them called them canal. However, in previous verse, Paul said they come behind in no gift. Meaning they have the gifts of the Spirit but they are bodily ruled.

So you can have the gifts without the fruits. Samson had the gift of working of miracles that chain became as wax in his hands, but was devoid of the fruit.

1 Corinthians 1:5-7
[5]That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
[6]Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
[7]So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
