"As a Nigerian, dating in UK will humble you" — Man shares experience with Ghanaian lady A UK-based Nigerian man has shared his experience on a dating app after a woman he matched with allegedly unmatched him shortly after learning that he was Nigerian. The man said the incident left him surprised and prompted him to reflect on the challenges Nigerians may face while dating in the United Kingdom. Man recounts how Bumble match disappeared According to the man, he was matched with a black woman on Bumble and began chatting with her. He said he asked where she was from, and she told him she was Ghanaian but had been born and raised in the UK. The conversation reportedly continued until she asked him about his own background. Recounting the encounter, the man said “As a Nigerian, dating in the UK will humble you.” He explained that he told the woman he was Nigerian and had only lived in the UK for three years. According to him, she immediately unmatched him after he disclosed his nationality. He described his reaction to the sudden disappearance of the match, saying: “She unmatched me.” The man added: “Bro, like the thing do me like say rapture don happen, the way her contact disappeared.” He then questioned whether his nationality had played a role in the woman’s decision. “Nigerians wetin, wetin, oh God.” Nigerians react to his experience The man’s experience sparked mixed reactions online, with some users suggesting that the woman may have had previous experiences that influenced her decision. Rounder wrote: “This one fit say na Niaja way anything goes….the image of niaja people to the outside world is really bad,oga just manage ur Niaja babe for there oo,just dey una 2 na hustling una dey and tortoise dey fear tortoise….Pele my guy.” BAO commented: “Maybe one Nigerian don break her or something.” Pasture_bale sympathised with the man and criticised judging people based on nationality. “It’s so sad & heart breaking when pple judge u based on ur country of Nationality not base on ur personality & character its rather unfortunate but u don’t blame them it’s the experiences they’ve had.” Ifeanyi described dating in the UK as an experience that can change a person’s perspective. “UK dating no be beans at all. Sometimes you go enter with full confidence and come out with character development. Na experience dey humble person…” Damilola, however, offered a different perspective, questioning some Nigerians’ expectations when dating foreigners. “Date Nigerian lady.. Una say dem too dey task. Okay, Data UK lady then. You say he go “humble me” abi Una just dey find free kitten wey no go stress Una?” Kura also questioned the man’s choice of words. “‘Humble you’ is a strong phrase; I wonder what specific cultural shock he encountered that made him use such a heavy word? Sounds like a real adjustment navigating those dating scenes abroad.”

![]() She must had been dealt with by a Nigerian man in the past before ![]() Well, that's her own cup of tea . She should ask south African women about us . other women from other nationalities can detest and hate us for no reason but so long we are always being cherished and loved by our beloved south African women,no problem . A man who can't accept small rejection and move on with his life . He should come back and experience first class wereys pretending to be in relationship with you, only for her to defraud you and later say she doesn't want to be with you anymore ![]() |

People unmatch for various reasons not just because of your nationality. Dating is a hustle abroad. Many ladies out there are looking for a 6ft tall, well established man, or with a great career. If you’ve only been there 3 years and not from some royal wealthy family, you’re “a hustler” like them. They will unmatch you lol |

the issue is not your nationality the issue is that your are fresh out of the boat Many black women born in the UK, won't date you because you are an immigrant, it will reduce their status among their friends and families calm down and follow other african women who are immigrant like yourself you and your children will also discriminate against the next generation of FOB |

Most Nigerians are yet to understand what Tinubu's record has caused Nigerians. They will understand very very soon. When people mention Nelson Mandela as their former president and Nigerians will mention Bola Tinubu a retired drug dealer criminal. Oh my world! 🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱 |

All these lazy people sef for this generation !! Those days when I was young, I remember being embarrassed my uncle (more like a senior brother), who could make a 10 min journey take 1 hour, all because he would stop on the road and chat with no fewer than 7 women of all shapes and sizes while collecting ella from at least 5 of them! I am naturally reserved, but when I grew up later and started doing my own and started getting my own "ella" I always took solace that no matter how many I collected, it would never reach the number of my uncle ![]() By the way, this same Uncle later lived in both the UK and US, has continued the pattern and even as old as he is now, he is still more likely to pull women than anyone I have known in flesh! Women everywhere in the world appreciate bravery and audacity, get off your app and step up to them and say "hi"....you'll be pleasantly surprised what you will pull. |

That one unmatched you cus you're a Nigerian doesn't mean that others do not fancy Nigerians either for dating or marriage. One thing with Nigerians is that we love generalization too much. |
| Re: "As A Nigerian, Dating In UK Will Humble You" — Man Shares Experience With Ghana by Liardon: 5:59pm On Sep 02 |
What I think actually “humbles” Nigerians abroad It is often the realization that your Nigerian identity doesn't automatically carry the same social currency abroad that it may carry at home. In Nigeria, you may already understand the social rules: how to approach women, how courtship works, what is expected financially, how status is perceived, how families interact, etc. Move to Britain and suddenly you're operating in a different ecosystem. Your accent may be judged. Your cultural expectations may be different. Your approach to relationships may be interpreted differently. Your nationality may trigger stereotypes. And nobody is obliged to give you the benefit of the doubt. That's the humbling part, not necessarily that Nigerian men can't get women in the UK. |

There’s a kind of rejection this guy is talking about that many people that has never left the shores of Nigeria will never understand. This type of rejection comes with racism and profiling that you can’t explain but pains you to your bone. I will advise OP to ignore Ghanaian ladies, they prefer their fugly brothers to any Nigerian. Go for East Africans. |
