7 signings in the last 18 months (2 summer windows included) is actually really poor for a club of United’s stature that aims to be at the top.

City, the most recent serial EPL winners, signed that amount of players in just one January transfer window.

Arsenal that hasn’t finished outside top 2 in 4 years signed twice that amount in the same period.

Even Tottenham, who are struggling massively, signed more than that this last transfer window.

But we’re United. 7 transfers in 18 months is fine. We’ll just hire and fire like a maàd man.

Arguably, we can say we havent been ruthless enough in both ways because while it is bad that we struggle to move players along as at when due, we also seem to hold on to struggling managers for a bit too long.

Between 2003 and 2013/2014, Real Madrid hired 11 managers before they eventually won La decima. That's an average of about 1 manager/Season.

One would wonder why the "worldclass" players couldn't bail out those sacked managers.

The same sentiments wey make Man utd to dey keep the likes of Jones for years, is the same one that affects us when it is time to let go of underperforming managers at the right time.

As it has been observed on numerous ocassions, holding on to manager who is out of ideas has more catastrophic consequences than retaining a struggling player that can always be left out of match day squads.

From all indications, this is the right time to sack Carrick if we are to salvage whatever is left of this season.
