Hello everyone. Thank you for all the support through my study permit application.

My permit has been approved and I'll be travelling to Toronto shortly. Two things I'd appreciate help with.
1. Airline

Flying out of Nigeria. Choosing between Qatar Airways, EgyptAir, KLM, Lufthansa, Etihad Airway, Turkish Airlines, and Ethiopian Airlines. Based on experience:
• I’m tilting towards Royal Air Maroc Ethiopia Airlines, Lufthansa, KLM and British Airways but I have fears of transit visa issues with KLM, British Airways and Lufthans. Anyone with experience with this airlines, transit visa requirements for Nigerian passport holders and which one will you recommend?

2. Port-of-entry documents
This is my list so far:
• Passport
• Letter of Acceptance
• Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL)
• Tuition payment receipt
• GIC confirmation letter
• University degree certificate and transcripts
• O'level (WAEC) certificate

What am I missing please? Thanks a lot.
Congratulations on your visa approval.

For 1: I used Emirates (via Dubai> Montréal), so not in your options

For 2: I'd say, if anything (especially those that prove your financial capacity, visa legitimacy, and educational qualifications) comes to mind, print and carry it! Get a dedicated folder and arrange them in order of importance, starting with your introduction letter. It's better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them! That was my case as the officer only asked for my Introduction letter and CAQ!
All the best!

Congrats on your approval. Please what date did you apply and what date did you do Biometrics and what date did you get PPR from IRCC? I did Biometrics 4th Aug 2026 and wondering about the processing timeline. Thanks and all the best in your future endeavours.

Application Date: July 5
PPR: September 15

I had applied in 2021 but my application was refused. I didn’t have to do another biometrics because the one for 2021 was for 10 years. I didn’t get any update until September 15 from IRCC

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Chigbo55: 9:20pm On Sep 17
my question is, will Immigration check and verify if the money is still intact at port of entry? Do they check and verify POF at port of entry
Imalwayshorny:
No, it is absolutely not advisable for your sponsor to withdraw the money, and doing so can put your entire academic future in Canada at serious risk.

where did you see 10 weeks? thought it was now 9 weeks? also, when i did biometrics (Aug 4th), I believe it was 6 weeks then, excluding weekends and Canadian public holidays.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Chigbo55: 9:29pm On Sep 17
Am aware that I can't withdraw all the whole money in GIC at once, I will go with my POF, and all the account statements I used when I applied, but will they check and verify the POF and acc statement at port of entry to know if the money i claimed to have there is still intact?
AbelAbdul:
Nobody can possibly tell what would happen at the pot of entry.

The officers there ask random questions. A guy that was in front of me during my time was asked where he planned to stay in Canada. I was not asked that question.

There was one other guy that was asked to produce a copy of his first degree certificate.

So random questions were asked. You might be asked for that account statement you might also not be asked.

Best is to go with everything.

Secondly are you aware that you can’t withdraw all the funds in GIC at once?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Chigbo55: 9:42pm On Sep 17
If they approve my visa, will they check and verify the POF at port of entry to confirm wether the money is still intact?
dsureguy:
Lol, dem dey withdraw GIC like that?

Only the person whose name is on the GIC can withdraw and you can't withdraw until you get your student permit not student visa and you visit the branch in person.

They ask randon questions at the POE and you can never know during my time they made me loginto my studnt account to confirm I have made payment to my school as I said I have made payment they didnt believe the printed copy I had

IMO you're setting yourself up for failure if you want to withdraw your POF not becase of Port of entry but overall you are setting yourself up

The might check they might also not check.

Don’t just carry a paper showing proof of funds.

Make sure you have 100% access to the funds.

They might want to see the account. Just be ready and confident.

In my case they wanted to see if I had access to my student portal. The officer told me to login to my student portal in his presence.

Just be prepared.

Like I said, they ask questions randomly

They might want to check and confirm the possibility of you having access to that fund. Money mustn't be in your acct. What matters to them is how possible it is for you to access it. Reason I said make sure you have 100% access to it.
Remember you can have access to something even if that thing is not in your possession.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Adenike16(f): 12:36pm On Sep 18
It is advisable you leave the funds, sometimes they check and you need to have access to it. They might ask you to show your balance on your mobile app. So, don't risk it.
