She Invested ₦11k In Dangote Shares In 2007, See What It Became (Photos/Video) by Glimpsetv(op): 5:59pm On Sep 25
After watching VeryDarkMan’s video about the disappointing returns some people got from Dangote shares, one woman decided it was time to share her own story—with receipts.

She bought Dangote Flour Mills Plc shares all the way back in 2007 for about ₦11,000. For years she held onto them, believing that over time the investment would grow into something meaningful. Sixteen years later, curiosity finally got the better of her. She decided to check what those shares were actually worth.

The number that came back stopped her cold: around ₦35,000.

She stared at the figure in disbelief. After more than a decade and a half of waiting, after tying up her money for so long, this was the return. Holding up the original share certificate, she laughed bitterly and said if she had known, she would have just used that ₦11,000 to buy a good pair of shoes instead. The paper is still there, the company name still printed boldly across the top, but the value feels almost insulting after everything she had hoped for.

Her voice carried a mixture of shock and quiet frustration as she went further. She said these billionaires collect money from the masses to enrich themselves, especially from the poor. The capital raised from ordinary people helps build empires at the top, while those same small investors are left holding certificates that have barely moved.

She is not alone. Her story joins the growing number of people who are finally speaking up about what those Dangote shares actually delivered. The certificate sits in her hands as quiet proof: the investment was real, the years were real, and the outcome, for many, has been painfully small. Watch the video and listen.

In Nigeria, Any investment that you see being advertised openly on Radio, T.V, News Papers and the Internet is designed to con you out of your hard earned money.

The wealthy do not like competition. They like to maintain their monopoly over influence & power.

Why share that Influence & Power with the dregs of the society?

Investment that will make you rich & wealthy will be guarded & hoarded like a Gold Treasure. You will only hear its whispers and it will never be opened to the public.

You don’t make money investing where a lot of people are investing, it doesn’t work like that, the matrix will break down.
Dangote is a thief

A real investment opportunity is not advertised, it is carefully and diligently searched out.

IPO is like the masses crowdfunding the business of the rich to get richer.

My very good friend that opened my eyes to investment told he's not acquiring Dangote IPO cheesy.
Put your money in mutual funds, commercial paper, treasury bills based on your demand for cash 💸.

Money tend to lose value and become bigger in the eyes of people. #80k of 2015 could be #250k of 2026.

Why wait that long to be handed the same money?

There's a difference between break even and profit
Do what you can with paper money, while you can, because it will forever lose value. Printing paper money isn't what cause inflation. It's the magic of multiplying electronic money in computers.
Read up Fractional Reserve Banking.

Do your research. With time, you will begin to understand why I tell people that I want the things that money can buy, and not necessarily the money itself

Investment in shares can be profitable if you know what you are doing

I don't think dangote refinery will bring lot of returns for retail investors like seplat

Most professional traders will wait one year after the all news is down and maybe when oil price are down to buy the shares below ipo price

The rules are never buy when everyone is buying...wait till the noise is over

Anybody that has meaningful business or has something important to do with money does not invest in IPO, it just like giving someone else money to do business so he can be paying you interest when ever he feels like since it is not every profit that is shared as a divided

You asked the right question.
Did she receive dividends or not? Also, investing without basic education on the trade instruments may lead to disappointment based on ignorance.
Real long term investors re-invest their dividends in the stock and also buy more during dips.
Buying a stock one-off then sleep and forget is not serious investing.

The truth is that I don't think dangote flour mills is still functional, I stand to be corrected, secondly she still got her investment back, and some change on top, she can not call this a loss investment.

.. that's why it's advised to use 'disposable funds' for such investments if you're a retail investor. Besides she's made no mention of dividends she's received.
While it may not the best to live in agony while tying up one's "widow's might" in company shares, that money would've had no trace if it was blown on a flex that year.
So cheer up, it's not too bad as an investment for the future afterall. wink
