Me buy 1200 Oceanic Bank Shares with 2 months NYSC Allawee in 2007...
TODAY, the 1200 units are less than 50 units with ECOBANK.

2012 I received a dividend of $0.10 cent for the shares.

I AM CAREFUL OF SHARES ESPECIALLY PUBLIC OFFERS AFTER PRIVATE OFFERS HAVE BEEN DONE.

There is no truth in your statement, it is misinformation.

Billions of naira change hands every trading day. Both the rich and the poor buy shares everyday in the stock market.

Even the foreign portfolio investors have made over 100% returns on their investments within 2years or less.

For instance, i bought MTN for N350 less than a year ago, it sold for N856 this week. I bought hundred of thousands ofLafarge Cement for N165 in March 2026. It sold for N356 as at this week.

There are people who live on stock trading and are living large.

The difference is knowledge.

You must know why you are buying.

Every share of first bank bought by Femi Otedola were bought through the stock market.

The mindset of the poor is their greatest weakness and this can be changed for the better.

The same mindset can be an asset if it is guided with knowledge.

Can you drive a car. A plane or even catapillar without first learning how to operate??

You reasoning can tell so much about your life trajectory.

When you listen to people without knowledge, you can easily see why they keep struggling. They complain about govt, village people, neighbours, office colleagues, friends and family but they do not take responsibility for their lack of knowledge.

The idea of posting the dangote flour mill shares is to discourage fellow poor people like her to learn from her dumb approach to investing.

Get relevant knowledge before you invest in anything.

Even the Bible says "My people perish because of lack of knowledge". Ignorance is deadly can destroy faster than cancer and stop listening or sitting in the midst of ignoramus. They will drag you down the hallway of destruction
There are ideally two problems with an average Nigeria:

1. The race to make quick money
2. Lack of knowledge.

Those shouting mutual funds here and there don't even know that financial homes use their money to trade on stocks.

You have said it all.....i.laughed when Dangote himself said it on the TV broadcast that the shares for his refinery is People's oriented......in other words, it's people's investment, specifically made for the ordinary Nigerians......that's typical daybreak lies....that Dangote refinery shares or stock is meant for his fellow elites, the Nigerian elites with question mark at the back of the name. Those billionaires politician without ever work a single job in their lives, those economy looters that has looted and still looting Nigeria treasury. Those people like Emefiele, Malami,Lai Muhammad etc.....those people that have stolen and over stolen Nigeria treasury and even confused where to channel the money into as a safe Haven for investment purpose.....those are the people that Dangote refinery shares are meant and created for and not ordinary hardworking Nigerians.....those people wouldn't feel the pain if nothing comes backntk them as dividend in the next 10years as long as their stolen loot his well laundered and protected very well in the coffers of Dangote refinery investment....

In 2007, Bitcoin did not exist, meaning you could not have bought any.The concept of Bitcoin was first introduced in late 2008 when its whitepaper was published. The network itself did not go live until January 3, 2009, when the first block (the genesis block) was mined. However, if we adjust the timeline slightly to when Bitcoin first established a recorded trading price in October 2009, the math reveals an astronomical return:The 2009 Price: When the first recorded exchange of Bitcoin happened in late 2009, 5,050 BTC were sold for just $5.02. This meant 1 BTC was worth roughly $0.00099.The Exchange Rate: At that time, 11,000 Nigerian Naira (NGN) was worth approximately $73.33 USD (using the 2009 exchange rate of roughly ₦150 per dollar). The Bitcoin Yield: If you had managed to buy Bitcoin at that initial rate in October 2009, your ₦11,000 ($73.33) would have bought you roughly 74,070 BTC.What that would be worth today:With Bitcoin trading at $86,157.00, those 74,070 BTC would be worth:In USD: Over $6.38 billionIn Nigerian Naira: Over ₦7.1 trillion NGN (based on a Bybit exchange rate of roughly ₦111 million per Bitcoin).

You are very right!

For me, I don't really like shares. Reasons being that yes, most of the time, many of those shares (not even all) appreciate over time. Now buy 1m worth of shares in 2026 and let's assume that same share are worth 3m after 10years in2036 (just a scenario). Do you know that an average commodity item sold for 1m in 2026 might be selling for more than 7m in 2036!.

Wait let me explain.

This woman bought those shares for #11k in 2007. That same year, I'm sure a bag of rice was probably sold for 3k, fuel probably sold for less than 50naira per liter, a plot of land in a modest area in Ajah was probably sold for 1m, an average tuition in a Lagos private school was probably less than 30k per term, I can give hundreds of examples......

Now imagine the values/costs of those things today. I know a particular thing in the western world that was $10,000 in 2018 that's more than $30,000 as at 2024!!!

In my own personal opinion,if you have good money, invest your money in a good business! There are businesses that grow with the rate of inflation and all of that. Be wise.

This is my own personal opinion, it is not an advice to anybody. Do your due diligence but don't forget to seek financial knowledge/advisor before you invest. Afterall, our fore fathers has shares in all those companies and they were comfortable with that.

Dangote Flour Mills was outrightly sold off in 2019 and all the shareholders were paid off, the company was subsequently delisted from NGX platform and was renamed Crown Flour Mills in 2019......

Summary: There's nothing like Dangote Flour Mills public shareholder since 2019.

N10,000 every month for 9 years is over a million Naira.

I can assure you that she would only have like N2 million to N3 million, even so.

If she had put in N1.08 million back in 2007, she would probably have like N3 million to N4 million now, which would be less than what she put in after checking for Naira devaluation and inflation.

Do you know that the N11,000 she put in that is N35,000 now, is actually worth N140,000 - N150,000 now, if she'd simply changed it to USD and kept it in a Dollar savings account in a US bank?

Just keeping the money in a US bank, in USD is a lot better than giving it to Dangote.

Don't take my word for it. Go and find the exchange rate back in 2007 and compare it with what we have now. While you're at it, compare the value of USD itself to what it was in 2007, then you will see the sense in what I wrote.

I have done a bit of the math already. Go and do it also.
Did you use ChatGPT extrapolation?both until the time the company was bought in 2019 and the likely share price till now? If she was buying 10,000 monthly, she will have close to 6m today

I'm interested in this, example please.
If it's a business you want to participate in, I can not tell you anything because it depends on your environment, your skill/experience, your risk tolerance and human and capital management.

But a viable alternative to buying shares that I know is properties. You can never go wrong with properties..... with 1m or 2m, you can start from somewhere. You can always buy and resell. All the same, you need information and guidance because the sector is fraught with FRAUD and FRAUDULENT people.

But then, information is power. Talk to property consultants (not agents). Also note that it's not something you can buy today and sell tomorrow.

Get knowledge, get information. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU EMBARK ON INVESTING IN ANYTHING.

Note: emphasis on capitalized texts!!!

Another thing is intellectual business! Go into I.T. (if you still have the time and your brain can accommodate it because it requires time, training et al). Master just one tech track (like backend, frontend, database administration, AI automation, DevOps, Cybersecurity, et al). Just one thing. Believe me, your time will come and money will flow.

Well, people don't know until later. Remember that Guy who headed FTX that was arrested for fraud and went bankrupt?
It is said that today, some investments he made (like startups he put money in) have gone up in value so much that it could buy his bankrupt company many times over at full price.
But his assets were seized when he was arrested to offset claims.

I'm simply telling you that the money you give to companies in the name of shares is used to trade while you earn a paltry sum in dividend, your shares appreciate over time but the appreciation doesn't correspond to the rate of inflation, so it's depreciation in disguise.

However, pls note the this is my own personal opinion.

Someone said he wants to make Nigerians millionaires but he couldn't use same mindset and reduce his fuel price to even if it's 500 which will benefit every Nigerian..

Abeg eee..

This is my first time seeing all banks, all network providers even social medias tv and radio advertising a product for almost a month now..

Something is wrong somewhere..

And Nigerians don't even understand what this thing called share how it works .. they thought when you invest today in one month or year you have millions..

You don't follow the crowd and win in this game. You have to be strategic.

Simply put.... Buying shares from a company makes you a joint owner of that company. I.e. you are shareholder in that particular company to the fraction of the share you bought.

Your money form part of funds used by the company in running the day to day activities of the company and you'll be paid dividends at a point in time as the proceeds of your investment.
