Mrexcell:Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Lagos-Ibadan Railway. Badagry Road. Second Niger Bridge. 700mw Zungeru Hydropower plant. Kaduna-Abuja Railway. Warri-Itakpe Railway. Baro port. Bonny Bodo Road. Makurdi-Keffi-Akwanga Road. Etc. Indeed, Buhari was a bad president. Buhari could make anyone win an election by merely raising their hands. Tinubu lost both Lagos and Osun in 2023 and is now begging Adeleke for endorsement. This is how his people loved and respected him for his integrity until his death and millions turned up for his burial. Can Tinubu replicate?

I agree buhari actually did some infrastructures in the south but he deliberately allowed his fulaniherdsmen brothers to overrun the whole nigeria which cancelled out and overshadowed whatever few good things he did in office. What is the essence of building infrastructures when ordinary nigerians can't even safely use them because of the activities of his fulani brothers? It was during buhari's regime thousands of law abiding nigerians were driven from their homes and automatically became internally displaced persons in their own country buhari showed them no pity or made any efforts to return them back to their ancestral lands. |

Mrexcell:Jokes on you. Insecurity was the major reason why Jonathan lost his re-election. Bombs were going off all over the country and even in the police HQ and UN building. Elections couldn't hold in several local governments in Borno due to insecurity, forcing Jonathan to postpone the election. You can keep trying to rewrite history. |

AMINDA:Insecurity was largely restricted to the core north and abuja during goodluck tenure but immediately buhari came into office it spread all over nigeria, in places like southern kaduna it was regular mass killings on an industrial scale without any arrests or prosecution of the killers. Buhari govt made killing of christains and non fulani nigerians legal no consequences or threats from the federal govt whatsoever to the bloodthirsty killers to make them have a rethink all what traumatised nigerians only heard from buhari's cabinet ministers were for nigerians to surrender their ancentrial lands to their foriegn killers and rapers if they really wants to live in peace. |

aljharem:That is the ignorant narrative you all promote. My late father secured ownership of a land measuring 700 by 500ft at Karu after years of serious legal battle with FCDA he even went further to obtain the CofO for the land after the the owner died more than 10 years before he won the case. The funny thing is, the family have all forgotten about the land as they couldn't afford to fight for the land. Plazas and filling stations has been built on the land. My father could have prepared an irrevocable power of attorney and keep the land for himself! but No! he did everything in the man's name and the legal battle lasted for more than 15 years - no legal fees was paid to him! WHEN HE WORN THE CASE, HE CALLED THE MAN'S IMMEDIATE FAMILY AND HANDED THEM THE LEGAL CERTIIFICATION, THE CofO AND OTHER DOCUMENTATONS! IN FACT, MY FATHER WENT FURTHER TO OBTAIN COURT VACATION ORDER AND QUIT NOTICE TO THOSE OCCUPYING THE LAND and gave them 2 years to vamoose from the land! This is like 15 years after their father passed on and they re not really well to do! As at 2022, the landed property was worth more than 250 million naira! AND MY FATHER WAS AN IGBO MAN! The late owner A GBAGGYI MAN! so go rest with that your igbofobia! Igbos are still one of the best tribes in this country! Kindhearted and God fearing! go to social media and see how people from different tribes are confessing on how good the Igbos have treated them! |

This is exactly the kind of sweeping generalisation that makes serious discussion about Northern Nigeria impossible. Have you actually lived among ordinary Northerners, or are you judging millions of people from the worst stories you see online? I have lived in Jos, Katsina, Bauchi and Kaduna. My best friend is a Christian. One of my closest coursemates and university roommates, Victor Okoroafor, is an Igbo Christian. We lived together, cooked together, ate together and practised our religions side by side. I didn't need to pray loudly to prove my faith to him, and he didn't need to disrespect mine to practise his. And we weren't some unique exception. There were plenty of Muslims and Christians around us living exactly the same way. Yes, there are Muslim extremists in the North. That is a fact. There are also Christians and people from other regions who hold prejudiced or extremist views. None of that should be defended. But there is a massive difference between criticising extremism and declaring an entire population inherently violent. I actually have more Christian friends than Muslim friends. We respect each other's beliefs. At my university, the Muslim Students' Society has even supported and donated to Christian student activities such as NIFES programmes. Ordinary people cooperate every day in ways that rarely make the news because “Muslim and Christian students peacefully living together” isn't as sensational as violence. And here's another thing: Northerners are not a monolith. A Hausa Muslim in Kaduna, a Christian in Jos, a Kanuri person in Borno, a Fulani herder, a civil servant in Kano and a university student in Bauchi don't suddenly become the same person because they live north of a particular geographical line. If you want to condemn Boko Haram, banditry, religious extremism or anyone who kills innocent people, condemn them. I will stand with you. But if your argument is that Northerners or Muslims are simply “hungry to slit the throat” of anyone who isn't one of them, then you're not describing reality. You're stereotyping millions of people based on the actions of extremists. And ironically, that kind of blanket hatred is itself the same mentality you're claiming to oppose, reducing human beings to a group identity and assuming the worst about everyone who belongs to it. |
