I know a woman turning 74 this year . She's SS.

In the same vein have you seen pre teen dying from SS before ?

It's heartbreaking

I inadvertently married an SS lady while i am AA. Today we have Kids that are all AS and the good part of it is that my wife is very strong and active. I married her when she was 24 but now she is aimost 40 years and living happily. Such people are religious and bring good fortunes and luck. However, there are challenging periods but with good heart and Gods grace it will always pass. Let God guild your choice but never you make a serious mistake of sleeping with her when you are not ready to marry her otherwise, you will never have peace of mind and prosper in your dealings. Cheers

Brothers, What Will You Advise a Brother?

I'm currently confused about my relationship journey.

I haven't really been the type to consider a serious relationship for a while now. It's just been a couple of sex partners here and there. We do it safely and keep things on a superficial level.

Now, recently, there have been demands and questions here and there about starting a family, especially considering that my immediate junior brother is done having children. His lastborn will be three next month, while the lastborn of my family is also done having kids. Her firstborn is already 10 years old.

I seem to be the only odd one out in this regard, even though I'm arguably more financially settled than all of them. Not to brag, please; I'm just trying to paint a clearer picture of the situation.

I clocked 35 in May, and it was as if everyone in the universe agreed to centre their birthday wishes around God providing me with a wife and family. Ever since then, the reminders from my folks have been pretty loud, persistent, and disturbing.

For the first time in years, I decided to seek a proper relationship, unlike my usual superficial flings and sexcapades.

Come to think of it, I can barely go three days without proper sex. This detail should be useful later.

I met this very beautiful babe from my state. She's 27, a first-class graduate (I am too, actually), and I'm naturally attracted to every facet of intelligence, especially communicative and academic intelligence. She has both, and I'm superbly into her.

She can hold a very reasonable conversation without leaving you mentally exhausted. She's become an integral part of my life, and at this point, I think it's safe to say I'm deeply attracted to her and genuinely like her.

Worthy of note is the fact that I've enjoyed a very unusual level of peace with her over the past three months, which is absolutely unlike me.

I get correct anger ish, although I've learnt to manage it well. I'm not a violent person, but I pick offences easily, and most times, I walk away when provocations get too loud. More often than not, my walking away is goodbye. I'm so good at it.

But since meeting this babe, we've not had any ugly disagreements over these past few months. She's very calm, calculated, and receptive. These qualities have made me like her even more.

She has a reasonably good-paying job, but that's not even an issue. I earn well enough to cater for everything, but she's also financially independent. Gifting seems to be her thing, too, as she's spent quite a sum on gifts for me without expecting anything in return. I haven't even matched up to a quarter of what she's spent on gifting though.

For the first time in my life, I agreed to a no-sex-before-marriage relationship because she's a virgin.

I still dey run my games on a low, so this didn't really look like an ish.

Here lies the rub.

Just last week, she said she had a confession to make, and she opened up about being SS. Mind you, I'm AA, so, by the usual norms, this shouldn't be an issue.

But during one of our previous conversations, she had claimed to be AS and asked if I would be comfortable settling down with someone who was SS. I almost freaked out.

I'm sorry, but I've always wanted to have AA kids. With apologies to those affected, I've always believed that if I ever have children, I owe them the best possible chances at life, including heightened intelligence, beauty, and a sound genotype. I believe I have a reasonable degree of control over who complements my genes to bring these qualities to fruition.

I'm honestly very good-looking and intelligent, so why not get someone who possesses these qualities, too?

Call it insipid or vapid, but I could swear that life has already dealt some people heavy blows by limiting their options in their quest for a future partner. Unlike those of us with AA genotypes, who can consider partners across all the common genotypes without the same risk of having children with sickle cell disease, they don't always have that freedom. I wanted my kids to have that freedom and an avalanche of options, too.

So, when she asked me that question, I sincerely freaked out and couldn't hide my disdain.

This, in turn, stopped her from opening up until last week, when she could no longer hide it.

Funnily enough, I already like her to the point where I don't mind if she's SS, BB, or iPhone. undecided

But the fact that she lied is what actually turned out to be my ish. She's been a very straightforward person so far, and this particular issue has upset our fashioned norms.

I proposed that the no-sex-before-marriage agreement should be off if we were going to be together, and she agreed. But now, I'm beginning to think it might look as though I'm trying to take advantage of her at this point.

Brothers, what will you advise a brother?
Am I being unreasonable?
Considering the emotional supports people with SS need, how challenging can it be? What is the possibility that she lives long enough?

All insults, curses, and whatever are welcome.
T for grateful.
Whatever you do DO NOT MARRY HER
Love her and support her however you can but don't marry her
You will just torture yourself if you go ahead cos you will be seeing her going through pain and there's nothing you can do about it

Of course she has to get married and her best case scenario is to a genotype AA like yourself. Understandably she waited to reveal this information to you to improve her chances but I kid you not, you are setting yourself up for a stressful marital life and I hope you have the strength to pull through.

You would have to care for her and keep up a lot with her treatment and episodes. I hope she doesn't eventually die and leave you bereaved because she's at that prime age number if she's below 35 years of age. At least, you would give her the chance to have her offspring.

I'm not wishing her death, I'm only considering realiity as I have had close shaves with this illness. Do it if you truly truly love her for who she is and not the love she has shown you or your desperation to get married instead.

Lol. They should marry. If they live long and healthy enough to do so. Key word: Healthy enough. I have done far more to alleviate the suffering of SS people in crisis than you ever will.

People get romantic and emotional, but the reality of SS patients, even with modern medicine, is anything but.

You cannot lie about something so crucial as SS status and expect your partner to accept your straightening it out later.

In my view, anyone who knowingly produces SS kids should go to jail.

In this case, they will, at worst, produce AS kids, but why knowingly burden innocent kids with such selfishness?

You don't have to pick up the pieces of people's poor decisions. I do. So, you can be a good Samaritan. shocked shocked

I have been reading as a guest on this site for close to a year, but the statement below resonated so deeply, I had to login to comment.

"Have you not seen two AA’s and First class graduates giving birth to Autistic kids" ?....hmm...life is indeed a mystery.

I had a classmate from high school who is SS, 45yrs now, has 5 kids and of those 5, a set of twins. We were in boarding school together and she was hardly sick. Her older sister is also SS, has 3 kids and is 51 this year. When we were still in high school, they lost their elder brother who was also SS. Luckily, their last brother is AA.
OPs concerns are 💯 valid and he has every right to be selfish about the decisions that affect his life and progeny. Infact, these decisions shouldn't be based on sentiments because when the chips are down, love would be out of the window.
OP, remove your eye from her kpekus and face the main issues at hand. Infact, you might end up being a spiritual problem to her with all your dįĉƙ hopping. Don't give the poor lady medical and spiritual infection join the one wey she don already dey battle with.
Pray for wisdom and guidance to make the best decision.

DeltaBachelor:
lol. Truly, Academic brilliance is different from Life’s intelligence. Not to discredit or wash down your class of degree, but if at this age and time, a certified AA genotype individual is still at loggerheads and at a crossroads as to whether he is compatible with his/her SS partner, on the grounds of “Children’s health and possible future permutations as to their own future partners”, then permit me to authoritatively say that the AA person doesn’t deserve the SS person at all.

A confirmed SS virgin lady willing to break her revered hymen to prove her love, trust and readiness for a long-term relationship and your focus is not even on her own SS well-being o, because they do have episodes a lot but rather on your offsprings and their academic abilities and health. This sounds quite disrespectful and selfish if you ask me.

For your info Mr AA, a lot of us are first-class graduates with B.Eng (not B.Sc , LLM- I put that for a reason and even confirmed AA genotype with “O” blood group - again , I put that for a reason and we still haven’t come across a lady willing to sacrifice what this young lady is about to do for you.

Mr Man, you don’t deserve her. Have you not seen two AA’s and First class graduates giving birth to Autistic kids ? Don’t play with this lady’s love abeg. If you don’t love her - PLEASE LET HER GO before she does something she will regret. Remember, hell hath no fury ……..Have a nice day !

She would even be better marrying another person sef , you are sleeping around while with her, you said you can't do without having sex around 3 days or so abi? so what makes you think youwont continue your promiscuity after marriage?

I think you are being unreasonable.
If she is this good as you said and she fits into every other good thing beside being an SS. And you are AA. I think you should go ahead. It doesn't affect the Gen of your kids.
I think at her age she has passed the risky challenge.
Discuss with a good Doctor if there are any other major Risk and if it can be properly managed especially with child birth. Then Call her for a honest discussion.
But if after your consultation with good doctor and others that are knowledgeable about this and you think you cannot do Life with her due to your temperament and fears.
Pls DON'T sleep with her ooh. Gentle tell her and let her go..

We have many with with SS lived upto 7p yrs and stronger.

There is no discrimination anywhere brother. I just wanted to maintain balance so people would understand where I'm coming from.
I have an aunt who remained unmarried till today because the one serious relationship she was in for long ended because the man was AS while she's AS too. They were so in love that they left what should have been discussed at first for later. The relationship crashed and she didn't recover from it till today.
Growing up hearing her story even as a kid has kind of implanted that consciousness in our respective minds.
You can't blame me for being conscious.
So much pity and condescension in your post, She's human too you know? Immediately you realized her genotype your tune became something else as if people who suffer from this condition aren't humans too, she has no control over it as you're well aware, she lied about it because she's used to people disregarding all her other qualities because of her genotype, imagine being handsome or beautiful, intelligent, kind, social etc but you have this condition, the moment people discover it, everything you're about, all your qualities, your identity get reduced to just one thing, your genotype, and thats the only thing they think about when they see you and everything else that makes up a person is disregarded, you'd do the same in her shoes, and have you stopped to think that she's afraid of loosing you thats why she lied? Don't waste her time, they don't handle stress and emotional trauma well, tell her you have doubts because of one irrelevant stuff and let her go, no come use the fact that she doesn't have alot of options due to her status to take advantage of her and leave, secondly don't go into it because of pity, you'll leave when it gets tough because everything you're yapping about rn is superficial, real talk, if excluding her genotype which many people with SS are insecure about is such a big deal you had to come online because of it, when the crisis they suffer hits it'll be a bigger deal, plus your obsession with this her virginity, you give off the impression that you wan chop clean mouth, considering what is up with her the virginity might be one of the good things going on for her, don't take that from her, leave her intact as you met her, because people with her condition will give anything to have someone stay, and i know you won't stay for it because all this your talk na initial BS, so let her go and don't add to her problems.

Either you're capable of some immense introspection or you're a huge narcissist. Has to be one of the two but I'm inclined towards the latter. Your assessment of the situation is understandably selfish since we're talking a life partner but your demand of her to let her virginity go for you when you're not sure how you want to proceed is incredibly Machiavellian which further supports my assessment of you as a narcissist. If you don't want her. Let her go intact. As you have noticed life already dealt her a huge blow. Her virginity is the one thing she has going for her. Don't take it away and dump her as you seem to be inclined to do.

The aim of the lie is to lead you into seeing the good part of her, she might as well be faking those positive vibes.
Women are very good at leading men into emotions that they start making terrible decisions.

Re: A Brother Needs An Advice. by Saccharine: 8:46pm On Oct 18
It is a pity she chose to lie,she should have been honest from the start.
Its your choice to go forward or not,you do not have to .She is SS and will have crisis periods in the future,it takes a kind ,patient and loving man to weather this sort of storm.Even a man who loves her to the last drop would be stretched to his limit when she will be in Crisis.

By your own confession, you are a cheat and therefore a liar, you have anger issues ,and you have poor impulse control( can't control s exual urge past 3 days)

You are also trying to guilt, blackmail and coerce her into s ex with you, which shows your character is poor.

Overall, you are not the right temperament or personality for this sort of lady. She will be ill on some days ,so will you arrange olosho on those days? Do you have patience to be carrying her from one hospital to another if in Crisis?

It would be a life changing mistake for her to be with you.

I think it's best to call it a day and move on.

This reminds me of the movie Sweet November by Keenu Reeves. I advice ManLikeL to watch it.

You'll need to have a strong heart to proceed.
I've watched it and I hate it, for real.

Thank you chief for your input.

When you say ask God for direction, what does that mean please?
Because I won’t even call myself a believer.
Even if u are not a believer as u think, u believe there is God, right?

Just speak to the atmosphere believing that u r talking to him, share ur fears and worries. It works.

In my case, I would say, if this relationship/marriage would cause me pain, let it die a natural death.

My two kobo though
