So the speed was at what range?
Less than 80kph

From the international perspective, it's the fault of the bus drivers. The car had the right of way.

From the Nigerian perspective, it's the faiult of the car. All those 'right of way' stuff don't apply in Nigeria. The only law is to assume everyone else on the road is raving mad and you're the only sane person.

Both drivers are at fault. For God's sake, this is not an express. Why the speed?
Exactly, even I blame the Toyota guy the more, when you approach a crowded place it us expected of you to show down, even for knowing that most of these bus drivers dey craze.

While the Avalon driver could have acted and reacted better, the blame is still on the bus driver for not watching before entering the express.
How?
Bus is on the right, keke is on the left, oya tell us what you would have done differently

Do you need glasses? Which crowd did you see in front of the expressway.

This just proves you don't have a car and you are just reacting like those who use korope and kekepe

The number one menace in Lagos roads are those commercial buses.

From BRT to okada, they’re all from the same school of lawlessness.

Most of them aren't quite right in the head, I'm sorry to say.

See people who have never gone to driving school talkless of owning a car judging.

Even doing driver's licence test you would have learnt that driving on the expressway is 100kph and that Avalon is still at 60kph

When you drive you look farther than your speed. It's been over 10 years, I've averted such incidents.

See who owns a car and claims to drive, you saw cars littered in front of you you still no reduce your speed, watch that video well, an experienced driver would have averted this. He is not at fault but he didn't apply wisdom.

What's your fellow Sabi drive friend got to gain for being right at this situation?

Did you read ar all before quoting me?

The driver isnt holding any phone, he is using glasses, that is not distraction, the other driver is clearly at fault
Re: Dashcam Captures Chaotic Nigerian Road Crash Sparking Fault Debate by Reference(m): 7:01pm On Oct 20
Both are at fault.
The small vehicles spread across a highway looking stationary is a recipe for disaster. They were lucky it was not a semi.

As for the driver he was obviously driving too fast for his hand-eye coordinating skills. The greatest asset of a driver is estimating distances, speed and vectors of all objects around his vehicle whether static or moving.

I could remember sometime in the year 2000, 4.45 am, Third mainland bridge, on the way to work, crushing at about 130 kph or so in total darkness except for headlamps.

All of a sudden out of the blues a man pushing a broken down vehicle left to right, from the speed lane to the shoulder right across on coming high speeding traffic.

That I am here today and not at the bottom of the lagoon is nothing short of a miracle. But in general do not drive at speeds beyond your coordinating skills. In the video right up to impact the fellow did not even make a single evasive or preventive move.

He was at a speed far greater than his driving skills.
Re: Dashcam Captures Chaotic Nigerian Road Crash Sparking Fault Debate by Greattha: 7:02pm On Oct 20
Are you aware there are speed limits even on expressways especially where said road is busy? Or approaching intersections🤔

Well sha...na Naija.🥱

He's on an expressway. That is why there is no bus stop on an expressay
Re: Dashcam Captures Chaotic Nigerian Road Crash Sparking Fault Debate by trtola(m): 7:04pm On Oct 20
That is smart glass. See his both hands steering.

It's the fault of the korope, because he came in too dip. Driver seem to believe he would go through. That road should have accommodated the two.

Greattha:
OP What do u mean by dashcam? That's either a phone or ai glasses.

The car driver was recording hence the distraction

If it was AI glasses then he can escape the blame.
Re: Dashcam Captures Chaotic Nigerian Road Crash Sparking Fault Debate by Badonasty(m): 7:06pm On Oct 20
Omo…those korope don worst pass keke and bike put together
Re: Dashcam Captures Chaotic Nigerian Road Crash Sparking Fault Debate by trtola(m): 7:07pm On Oct 20
The problem here was not speed in my opinion. It's poor judgement due to korope's fault. Check the video it just seems the korope was crossing the road!

I just tire for that guy with his argument. It wouldn't have cost the Avalon guy anything if he had slowed down upon seeing those two vehicles in front.

Now eh go enter panel beater come still do small flashing.

Two good points here.

One, you slow down on approaching traffic no matter where that traffic is situated.

And two, in Nigeria, defensive driving skills is mandatory to get home everyday. Anticipate crazy action from commercial vehicles all the time. Anything painted yellow is a potential accident, whether bus, taxi, keke, just lock on until you have safely passes.

Commercial vehicles on the move regard their side mirrors with complete contempt. They want to multi task. Attending to passengers while driving at the same time takes a bit more than a bird brain.
Re: Dashcam Captures Chaotic Nigerian Road Crash Sparking Fault Debate by trtola(m): 7:13pm On Oct 20
If you watched, he even veered left after trying to slow down. Look at the angle the korope entered the road! Too steep. He could have entered and the Avalon would still go on.

So why couldn't he apply his brakes or demonstrate defensive skills by blaring his horn from afar. Watch the video over and over again and observe the driver. He was as calm as a cucumber watching the disaster unfold. Barely twitching a muscle. He was just too fast for his skills.

Most lady recognize this deficit and drive at the speeds they can handle.

You got the point. Even if the bus driver was wrong, reading the flow of yraffic and anticipating others might have reduce damage or outrightly prevented it...

Driver didn't read the situation well, he shouldn't have speed towards it, always assume other road users are stupid

Na the KEKE fault...dont justify rubbish.

Doesnt the driver have eyes to see as he wants to cross an express road?

If it was a trailer will he dare it? He miscalculated the turning, instead of waiting for the Avalon to pass.
Situational awareness...the driver did not pay attention....you don't speed past a bus stop...he could have slowed down and drive past at a safe speed

Is the koro supposed to go to the speed lane (left lane)?
No

You obviously don't know that the normal driving condition is for the korope to stay on the right lane so that other vehicles can use the left lane to the safely pass. So the driver cannot change to the right in case the korope goes there in the last minute

Irrespective the car owner was on speed, the both shuttle drivers are at fault...

The shuttle/keke on the left hand had no business parking on that side of the road, infact creating a double park, the other shuttle on d right wheeling out did not take recourse to his side mirror at all..

As a typical nigerian, nah Tinubu cause this accident..

I'm sure this is jealousy speaking
The Avalon is a typical juvenile driver. In a country where road users drive carelessly, one should be fully aware of his/her environment while driving.
He ought to have slowed down and allow the buses finish their demonstration of craze.
It is not about who is right, but about what is left after the incidence.
Let's be cautious while driving.

The video, shared by user D3VID, shows a yellow korope bus pulling out abruptly as the private Toyota approaches near a bus stop, with a keke tricycle also colliding in the three-second chaos.

Opinions split sharply: some blame the commercial driver's reckless maneuver without checking traffic, while others say the Toyota should have braked sooner in the busy zone despite having right of way.

The debate highlights Nigeria's road safety woes, where speeding and poor habits fuel deadly accidents, prompting calls for defensive driving and better enforcement.

The Car driver should be sued for attempted murder. He can't he did not see the danfo and the Keke.

Look at the road, the guy is clearly travelling and he is even at low speed. If he was at 100kph, the way he would have thrown the kolope into mechanic looking shop at the right ehn.

The kolope should do this in front of luxurious bus or petrol tanker, hmmmm

Primary fault is from the korope driver while secondary fault is fromthe Toyotadriver
Dalohad:
That is a highway express, possibly interstate..

The shuttle bus agbero driver is at faulty. He is reckless and should be captured and given 24 lashes right there on the spot, and sent to prison for endangering people's lives.

The driver of the private vehicle should also learn to apply caution and anticipatory driving skills.

I driver interstate on a regular, when I drive, I don't have loud music blocking my ears and sense of reasoning. I anticipate every danger before they happen.

Sometimes, na who dey right dey die throway..
