Hello, my passport is still in my maiden name, but I am married. For my Canadian study permit, should I use my husband's surname or should I use my maiden name exactly as it is on my passport? I plan to do an affidavit for change of name.

Use the name on your passport.

The situation you’re in is common. Not unusual.

Some women still use their maiden name after marriage.

na waah. E don reach to use the f word?

For your Canadian study permit application, you must use the exact name that appears on your valid passport (your maiden name).

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) strict policy requires that your study permit, visa sticker (TRV), or Port of Entry letter match your primary identity document—which is your passport.

Why are you runing away stay and vote in good leaders so we can fix our country! To be better thsn Canada!

Your names dont matter in Western countries - you can do your name change anytime you want while overseas with your family. Don't complicate things for yourself by changing names while still in Nigeria. Get out first and change your name while out of Nigeria.

Use whatever name that is currently in your passport but indicate your marital status in the visa application form and include your spouse name. That's all, you are very good to go. Good luck to you

E reach.

The question na matter of common sense.

Use the name on your passport for all documemts.

Do not be changing names like changing clothes. Be consistent. If they ask about your marriage, present the marriage certificate.

If you haven’t applied for the visa yet, it would be better to apply for a new passport under your new name.

They always tell you, write your name THE WAY IT APPEARS ON YOUR PASSPORT

You can always add your husband name to your school certificate

Use your name as it is.
Do not complicate things by changing your name now.
There is nothing special about bearing husband's name right now especially in western countries.
I still bear my maiden name on my official documents including my international passport, certificates, bank accounts and at work.
