fubara H: 60, 61 what ever it is i think its a good deal compared to what i earn now working with a private company. am sure you`ll understand for those of us working and earning less than 40,000. for me i started working with a telecom company in port harcourt six months ago after my nysc. and i am paid 37k a month. money hasnt been an isue since i live very close to my office and i stay in my family house. now dont judge me bcus i just turned 24 three days ago so i think i deserve sometime to save up some money so i can get a place of my own. i intend to resign my curent job as soon as i have been posted to my primary plc of work in september. cus i think working in the ministry is much better than working with a private company.

Though am nt a teacher,i do hav a little knowledg of civil service structure. Teachers salary structure(TSS), is quite different 4rm d normal civil service structure. At d moment,since d inception of Gov. Amaechi,rivers state teachers earn more in d federation. Its above d TSS scale. I dnt know d actual figure. I hope dis helps!

U're very correct. Rivers State Teachers are highly paid more than any other state in the whole federation. Just confirmed from a UBE Staff.

Comrade Mangtu Bala said he earns almost N200,000 on Level 14. He knows he is fortunate.

“I am on Grade Level 14 and my salary is close to N200,000. This is not commensurable with other profession but our union has been trying to see that we are remunerated reasonably compared to other professions to cope with the standard of living in Abuja. I will not want to go to any state to teach because the state governments are not paying up to half of what we are collecting here,” he said.

Adamu Sehidu who earns N97,000 is seeking better allowances.

He said: “The celebration is a thing of joy, but the painful aspect is that teachers are not appreciated the way they should. But, we thank God things are improving gradually. I pray we get there. I am on Level 13 earning N97,000. The most painful thing in FCT is that teachers who go on transfer do not enjoy transfer allowance. No study leave to upgrade knowledge in FCT. I cannot go out of FCT.”

Comrade Adamu Adamu, an FCT teacher, condemned the discriminatory salary structure in various states.

He said: “I am on Level 12 and the salary is encouraging. With the present reform of President Goodluck Jonathan, workers nationwide are supposed to earn the same salary and if that is in place it will further encourage any teacher to work anywhere.”

Rivers

Teachers in Rivers State are happy with Governor Chibuike Amaechi. On coming into office in 2007, he declared a state of emergency in education. On the advice of stakeholders, the state government took over the payment of teacher’s salaries from councils and set about re-building primary and secondary schools.

Before teachers’ salaries were paid irregularly, since Amaechi took over, the teachers are no longer told to expect their rewards in heaven. They are always smiling home with regular salaries.

Teachers were reluctant to comment on their salaries for fear of sack. However, it was gathered that those on Level 8 earn about N61,525; Level 9, N80,000, Level 10, between N89,000 and N96,000, and Level 12, between N98,000 and N138,000.

With the amounts they receive, teachers in Rivers State said they would not trade places with those in other states.

“The reason is, despite whatever we are paid, it is very regular. The government is urging all of us to professionalise by obtaining qualifications like NCE or post graduate diploma in education”, said a teacher.

Bros, many people are rushing for federal work, becos their pay is very high, more than any state civil service in Nigeria, except in Rivers state, where lecturers in UST earns higher than Uniport lecturers. my sis works as a non- teaching staff in a federal university and that is her pay for a start. State security service (SSS), Senior cadet officers, 'which are graduates' earns even more than 120k. My Aunt is presently, teaching at staff nursery sch. College of education (technical) Omuku. At level 8, she earns b/w 80 n 90k and many more too numerous to mention. Well! I don't know where u got ur infor.

Pls can sum1 advice me on what 2do,i did d 2nd interview 4d 13000 teachers stuff, bt i didnt see ma name on d list,i listen 2 STV news 2day 8Augst by 10pm, dey said 13,152 teachers were employed, n according 2d consulting firm dat carry out d interview,dey said d total number of pple dat attended d 2nd interview were 13,152,pls now ma question is dat how come sum of us didnt see our names on d list, because frm d view of everytin is lik dey employ everybody dat came 4d 2nd interview,or dos it mean dat dey did fowl play on sum pple,because Gov Ameachi let us 2no dat is on merit no magu magu play,im stil confuse uptil now dat im nt among,because i tel u what dey ask me dat day is nt what wil fail me at allllllll,i did wel

I'm afraid your information is not so correct, I'm reliably telling u that Prisons,police are among, if not the highest paid in civil service recently. A Gl 8 in prisons earns 90k.

if u re sure 13152 attended d interview n same figure was employed. then u try lay ur hands on d master list of either boards. are u an indegene?

The number definately exceeded 13000. On AIT i† was 13,201. On radio, i† was 13,152. There was even a time dat i sighted a supplemtary list on †ђξ internet filled with indigenes and †ђξ last 3names does not even have exam numbers. They probably took i† upon themselves τo replace those defaulters from †ђξ verification exercise.

my dear dats not true abt d federal govt salary,my take home wit customs wen I started in 2012 was 82k dats after all deductions,pension,vat and others

Sister, why do people find it difficult to understand simple issues? Your sister working in a federal university & federal college of education will surely earn more than a classroom teacher. The 45k/month I told were for federal government college teachers. They earn very little. In educational parastatal, Rivers State pays more than federal. Lecturers in RSUST/RSUOE/RIVPOLY/RIVCAS earn higher than their mates in the federal universities/College of education/poly. The least paid federal parastatals are police, prison warders & classroom teachers. They all earn below 50k/month

it is not true, the recruitment was conducted by River state ministry of education not federal government, so both PPSB and UBE were both under state ministry of education thanks.
