Sidomi: This is my 1st contribution on nairaland. I heard Amaechi just employed 13,000 graduates as teachers. If dat is true then he deserves to be Regarded as not just a performer but an ICON.
for doing his job ? Youre funny sha o. If you run an organisation and there are vacant positions, its your duty to make sure those positions are occupied by qualified personnel.

So I ask u, when some1 does his or her job very well, is such person not regarded as a performer? Only if u knw what it means to take 13,000 off the street. Amaechi is no saint, but he is one of the very sound political figure we have in south south.

Here is why I used d word ICON. PH used to be a deadly zone. Some pple called it a blood sucking arena b4 Amaechi bcame d gov. He came in and sanitized everywhere and then put up a system that is working administratively in PH. Well if ICON is 2big for him, @least u agree he is a performer and bold political figure from d south south

Symphony007: and you are a cow! I dare you to show me any nigerian city that does'nt have spots like this. 8 years of neglect cannot be washed away in 6. You and you fellow goats should tell me why with a 300 billion naira budget, the bayelsa state capital has no single fly over, you and your fellow pigs should outline how much debt akpabio has gathered for akwa ibom plus the more debt he is acquring to service already existing debt, square it with what he has done in his state. Show me significant things emmanuel uduagan has done with the billions for oil rich delta. You're just a bunch of animalistic hypocites. Epic fool!

so because bayelsa and Delta failed, rivers should fail too.
I already know you have an undeveloped brain but I never knew it was this bad.

Bensonite:
Guys,
Please lie small:
You claimed Pic 1 is one of the new schools built by Amaechi(earliest 2007). For your information, Amaechi was sworn-in 25th October, 2007 and did not start or complete any school that year.
Pic 3: The guy did not say renovated state secretariat hence the intension was to deceive NL who do not know this was built in the early 70s. Infact as bad as Peter Odili is he was the one that renovated the secretariat complex not Amaechi.

Comprehension is your problem. The guy said he was seeing those pictures from the early 70s thus I stated the completion dates for the various projects in the pics.

Therefore as Amaechi was sworn-in in October 2007, the earliest he could have completed that school would be 2007, implying the poster lied about seeing that project in the 70s. Hope I have increased your comprehension skills today!

Hmm, I can't say if Odili renovated the secretarial considering the amount of work that Amaechi put into it. It is however easy to ask the civil servants that Are Praising Amaechi for the good work done to make their work environment a worthy place.

Nope, 1 out of 4 is definitely better than the blanket statement of them having being around bandied by that poster. Rather it is the rejoinder that wants to deceive.

Guy,
It is clear you are the one lacking comprehension skills. I have no time for your type. Take time to read your post if it makes sense to you.
Set of pictures were posted to suggest Amaechi achievement and one of which was noted to have been completed in the early 70s.You put a poor defence claiming Pic 1 was completed in 2007(big lie) and again that He meant Pic 3 was renovated by Amaechi(big lie again as you recent post shows you are not sure who renovated the secretariat)
Please take time to go through your comprehension lessons again.

Symphony007: victoria island is the heart of lagos, center of commerce. Home to many corporate headquaters but it still gets flooded when it rains. Goodluck jonathan has never driven to otuoke, he flies in a chopper from port harcourt airport. What is the state of his community road? What is seriake dickson doing with his billions of naira budget? Why does'nt yenegoa have a single flyover? Bayelsa is one of the smallest states in nigeria. What are they doing with their 300 billion naira budget when other states double it's size get only a fraction of that. You guys are stupid partisan attack dogs and critics. If you want to attack inefficiency or underperformance, call out the whole pack and stop cherry picking those who oppose king jonathan.
Why are you barking like a dog that is just let loose? You are stressing yourself too hard to defend a course you are sentimental oblige to but that doesn't erase the obvious. Amaechi compare to Odili is a performer but that performance is relative and does not necessarily mean a pass in the true sense of performance. Why has he slowed down on the pace at which he started in his first tenure or was all the abracadabra a plot to win himself to becoming a V.P following the erroneous believe that GEJ won't seek a re-election? Sorry to disappoint mr Rotimi, performance should be devoid of self and ulterior motive and that is what affected the psyche of Amaechi hence his abysmal performance in his 2nd tenure.
May I crave your indulgence to stop using flyover as a yardstick for development? Flyovers are built based on insistence need while a futuristic projection is also put in the fore. However, important it maybe it may not be what is most needed in Bayelsa.
Lastly, I am not convinced on your assertion on Akpabio and debt profiling. Akpabio no doubt had performed wonders in AKS but it still has a moderate debt index( can't produce the index handy). Don't misinform the people cos of hate

first of all there's a difference between a bold person and a careless talker which is what Amaechi is. Amaechi was speaker of the Rivers house of assembly during the blood sucking period you talk about for the complete 8yrs of Odili's tenure and so was actively involved in all atrocities commited then. The only reason Amaechi seems so saintly now & you dont see him amongst them is because he had a falling out with Odili due to the 2007 primaries where his name was substituted for Omehia's own and not due to any righteous desire to serve Rivers people. As at the 2011 elections, Wike who was his then chief of staff delivered Rivers state council by council to Amaechi and that is an undisputed fact.

Bros,
Well said. Let me add this. As bad as Wike is /or portrayed He is one man that serves the interest of his master with so much zeal and commitment no matter how evil his deeds will be. I recall because I know for sure, Wike lodged the ACN party chairman in government house on the day of governorship election in Rivers state hence had a free day to rig excessively in some areas for Amaechi. He was good then to Amaechi but now been hired by GEJ to do the dirty job He is known for and He is bad according to Amaechi.

If you want to convince me that u actualy snapped PH,u will have to snap those pics close to an office signpost so i see the road names else i will believe those are the pics of Osogbo.

I doubt if you live on sani Abacha road perhaps you have a girlfriend there.
the problem with Abacha road is basically drainage, once it rains, from next time mini mart to the junction is always flooded,
if you observed, the guy took the pics on a rainy day which butresses that fact.
finally, the interlock on Abacha road was done by odili.

Symphony007: It will be very pathetic to relitigate issues like this everytime any ignorant fool comes to post trash on nairaland because their state of mind is already in the gutter so arguing with them is like a race to the bottom.

But for all the lies and miguided opinions, the facts still remain standard and they are 250 model secondary and primary schools, 150 healthcare centers, a state of the art dental free hospital, abiye amesimaka stadium and sports village, stadium road, ikwerre road, ada george, okrika ring road, the RSSDA which is the largest sponsor of overseas scholarship in nigeria and giver of loan to small buisneses, the shonghai farm in tai, buguma fish farm and many more. These are facts no fool can dispute so they can keep running their nasty mouth.

there is no word to qualify your stup!! dity so in fairness to your destiny, I rather stop searching.
the first 4yrs of Amaechi proposed 160 schools for rehab, 6yrs on, only 110 were completed, 50 were abandoned.
it might interest you to note that the school were far below capacity which led to the displacement of pupils to various town halls in rivers state.
about the health centres, educate yourself here

Symphony007: small minded person...show me a picture of anyther state with a free dental facility like this one.
Is'nt it interesting that a building built in the 70's is still standing and actively serving as the tallest and biggest state secretariat in nigeria due to the hardwork of the state government. Go and inquire of civil servants the state of that secretriate during odili's government and ameachi. Ask them when the elevators started working and full time cleaners were acquired. Meanwhile go to the federal secretariat at aba road and see the disgrace, the elevators are now backdrops from beggers and traders to display their wears, aged federal civil servants climb the impossible amount of stairs just to get to their office and as they climb they go with their lunch and every other thing they'll need through out the day because they know once they get up there. No coming down till close of work; a building of that magnitude has no central power source, each office use a little gen and a federal government building looks and sounds like a market with competing "i pass my neighbour gens" for the sake of all those who work there i pray non of those gut fire.what has the federal government led by jonathan done about that?

For the fact that your sorry ass can't be any pic from other states that beat ameachi's 250schools and healthcare centres plus other achivements: it's a bigger indictment.

was the state secretariat done by Amaechi?
Isn't that presidential hotel renovated by some lebanese you are showing us as Amaechi's achievement?

by 2007, the secretariat was almost complete but the elevator was done by Amaechi cos I could rem the day I was there, the elevator was out of bounds,
you can give Amaechi the interior finish from floor 12 and above.
Overall Odili renovated the secretariat more than Amaechi.

Let me help you further as you have failed to grasp the essence of what "at least 2007".

It implies that the EARLIEST that structure was completed by Amaechi can only be in 2007 since he was sworn in sometime in October 2007, thus it was impossible to see in the 70s a structure that it's earliest completion date is 2007. The 'at least" does not imply that it was completed in 2007.

As stated by many Amaechi completed the renovation, do what really is the issue?

Truly you need to work on your comprehension abilities.

RSSDA harvests 30 hectares of maize in KPAA
The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) flagged off its harvests at the Integrated Farm Service Centres with a call on the Agency to employ more youths in its areas of operation. The call was made by the Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Dumnamene Deekor, during the flag off ceremony at Kpaa Town in Khana Local Government Area of the State.
The Deputy Speaker,, lauded the idea behind the establishment of the RSSDA, and thanked the Agency for its projects in the rural areas. In his speech, the Council boss of Khana Local Government Area, Hon. Greg Nwidam, represented by the Supervisor of Agric., Hon. Dorka Dedam, thanked the RSSDA team for siting the Zonal Integrated Service Centre at Khana LGA. He further charged the Agency to do more, and also pledged the support of the Council to the Agency.
Speaking on behalf of the host Kpaa communities, the spokesperson for the four clans said RSSDA has done well by putting into use the large hectares of land that had been lying fallow over the years, even after they were donated to past organisations. The landlord communities also lauded the large harvest witnessed on that day.
Meanwhile, the Manager, Strategy and Planning of RSSDA, Mr Sylvester Okoh, while addressing the press, said the Integrated Farm Centres in the four major zones would service all farmers and related businesses around the area . He added that the project will also provide employment opportunities for about 350 youths per Centre. Mr Okoh stated that the State Songhai Centre still serves as the main agricultural hub in the State.
The Strategy and Planning Manager expressed optimism that, by the end of the year 2010, a total of 12,000hectares would have been cultivated on this special intervention programme.

Nigeria: Emerging Wonders of Songhai Farm in Rivers (1)By Godwin Egba, 9 August 2011
analysis
Port Harcourt — According to a school of thought, a leader does not force his vision on his people.
On assumption of office on October 26, 2007 to begin his mission as the new governor of Rivers State, Governor Chibuike Amaechi unfolded a checklist of his developmental vision for the Rivers people.
His mission anchored on human capital development packaged in many phases, according to him, is to pursue purposeful programme aimed at impacting positively on the lives of the people. Trust some skeptics; Amaechi was taken as a power seeker with political sophistry.
The governor outlined some key projects, namely an integrated agricultural project called songhai farm, overhauling the health and the educational sectors apart from other capital development like the Greater Port Harcourt.
One project that is giving his administration a high profile is the Songhai farm patterned after the Songhai centre in Port Novo, Benin Republic. This is a project designed to boost agricultural farming, a centre of excellence in training, production, research, demonstration and development of sustainable agriculture in Rivers State.
Four years after, how Amaechi has faired in actualisation of his pledge remains within the competence of the citizens of the state to appraise while sending his skeptics to go and rest.
Suffice it to say, however, that his government has taken certain initiatives, which give optimism that the circumstances of Rivers people are changing for the better.
The farm project sits on a 314-hectare land in Bunu-Tai, in Tai local government area of the state, an agrarian community. It is about 20 times the size of Songhai model-an integrated farm that combines livestock, arable farming, fisheries, snail farming and poultry. It also has a feeds mill, machine production and processing as well as agro-tourism components, among others.
The first phase of the project came up in 2008 when more than 105 persons were trained in different skills related to farm management while, the project is in its second phase of execution as it bubbles with activities of varied types but all connected to agriculture.
Officials say that fresh eggs' harvest, which is derived from the over 900 bird layers in active service, currently stands at an average of 450 crates per day. Aside from the eggs being available to the community's members at affordable rates, they are also sold to different communities across the state.
The farms manager, Mr Frank Abamu, said that when the poultry department of the farm is able to attain full production capacity, it would form the revenue backbone of the farm, while creating more jobs and wealth opportunities in the state.
He said that the department currently has good stock of birds such as layers, broilers, chicks, guinea fowls, Canadian geese, ducks and turkeys, whose wastes are channeled to the farm's fish ponds or used as organic fertilizers for crop growing.
Abamu expatiated that at the fish hatchery units, fish eggs were artificially fertilized to produce fingerlings of varied species, including catfish and tilapia, while a 'maggotry' was set up to produce protein-rich maggots to feed the fishes.
Besides, he said, "Grass cutters" were reared in specialized family units of four females and one male, while the African giant snail species in the world, are also reared in the farm.
The snails shell, he added are further processed into calcium for use in animal feeds. The farm also has processing facilities for rice and cassava, especially cassava, which is processed into garri, fufu, starch and ethanol.
Other variety of other crops grown in the farm include pineapples, mango, pawpaw and oranges, which are usually sold or processed into packaged juices.

What may be Africa’s largest, most modern, highly mechanized farm settlement and processing complex to be constructed by Israeli experts with over N21.84Bn ($140m) is to take off in a part of Rivers State.
BusinessDay gathered that the new centre is expected to be bigger than the famed Songhai International Farm Complex in Porto Novo, Benin Republic, by over 300 times, and 10 times bigger than the N4.7Bn Songhai Rivers.
The centre is to be constructed and managed by the global giants and agro-engineering firm that builds agric cities, LR Group of Herzliya , Israel , in partnership with the Rivers State government, within the next 24 months. Rivers State is said to havalreadyput down $100m while LR group is to bring in $40m to kick-start the agric revolution that would involve over 3000 hectares of farm and processing centres in Etche local council area of the oil-rich state.
The multi-billion naira complex and processing centre is perhaps the biggest plan by the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi administration to create an economy outside oil and gas. The project is to be overseen for the state by the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency that also oversees the Songhai Rivers Farm Complex in Bunu-Tai
