andyanders: My brother, you have done well with your brain. This is an inspirational means for people to know how to get their own property and someone is here asking about the foundation and arguing 'how come 300k finished the building. I am highly disappointed with people.shut up your mouth. Na only you don build house before? People who are asking questions have also built houses and they have reasons to ask questions. He dug the soak away pit for 5k? Labour must be overly cheap where ever this is in the same Abuja where I live. |

This is hard to believe. For me to believe this, you have to do some analysis or answer the following questions. How many blocks were used? How many bags of cement were used? What is the cost of roofing sheet? What are the fittings used and price? Dis you get a bricklayer to do a free job, if not how much did you pay? |

@OP, in as much as I admire your guts an courage in trying to encourage folks here, I think you wrong. Iam a professional builder & I 've been in the industry for some time now in Abj...firstly,your foundation depth is a deathtrap. And after your April, demolish it b4 d rains comes. Your 500nos of block is meant for d foundation alone, tho depending on d nature of site. Labour collects N1500 & mason N3500/day... Pls no offence meant sha.,Thx |

Nairalandi: see this one! Must you see the foundation before you comment? So you'd live in a house without foundation? @OP This house is not safe. If you built it during the dry season you'd probably think it's safe but when the rains come you will think differently. |

odehaj: Roofing wood= 18k??Reinforcement =5k??what about w/manship for carpenter??..only one trip of plastet sand cannot finish in/out sir. Wire 7k wrong.Oga, here's answer to your question. Roofing Wood 2 x 4 - @350 - 6 - N2100 2 x 3 - @300 - 40 - N12000 2 x 2 - @200 - 15 - N3000 is it too much or too little? Reinforcement 2 length of 12mm iron rod costs N2700. Cut it from the shop you purchased it and buy rings. Look for one smart guy in the shop to tie the lintel for you. He'll be glad to do that for N1000. Electrical Wires A bundle of wire sells btw N2800 - N3500. What are you wiring in a single room apartment. Plaster sand go remain self. You can get at least 8 wheelbarrow of sand from a single trip of sand. |

At 'my Ijebu', i can get land (in a nice environment) at almost no-cost (family parole), do the survey at about 90-100k then move on to build such (but mine would have a solid foundation, though). #bottomline. Life is not hard, only if you wish to make it hard for yourself. |
