For those that love online shopping like I do, no doubt that the duo of Kong and Jumia are the biggest and most famous online store here in Nigeria. I have been shopping in both shops for a while now, so I decided to come up with this unbiased comparison between the both online stores, meaning I am talking from my experience from the both stores.
Commodities ===> no doubt that when it comes to amount total amount of commodities available in both stores, Jumia has more commodities in totality
Prices of Items===> I have come to notice that most items in Konga are cheaper than that of Jumia, even more so, Konga offer free shipping, while Jumia charges for shipping
time or speed of delivery===> all the time I have shopped in Konga down here in PH city, my Items have not stayed more than 3 days before getting to me, while my first experience with jumia, the item stayed for 8 days before getting to me, and when it finally arrived, after I have called them, I noticed that they came with a different item from the one I ordered for.
So what are your own judgement from my experience and what are your own experience with them?

Jumia product are substandard. Most of their items especially clothings are really of low grade from china and darm expensive. Imagine getting a top for 4500 only to realize that that same cloth can go for 1200 in the open day market. Imagine getting a wegde sandals for 6000 from Jumia, really thought i could use it to impress my date only for both sole of the sandals to pull off mid way on the road. I am not the only person that have complained about this. My friends colleague complained about the same thing that JUMIA DOES NOT GIVE VALUE FOR MONEY. I have not tried Konga sha maybe it might be better.

I prefer to buy from Konga and the few times i did, i was pleased. i believe jumia uses deceptive pictures on their site. When you look at the product you want to buy especially clothing, you are wowed. That's the idea i think.

Thank you for this thread - in fact I wanted to start one similar on my own, but I haven't seen how to start a thread on Nairaland. Maybe I am not yet qualified.
Anyways, I have no experience with Jumia, but I have dealt with Konga since last Thursday night, before the "Fall Yakata". That night I ordered a lcd tv, and it's now six working days since then, and nothing has happened. Website says "Track your Order", but I dont see anything except "Verified Interswitch". It has been like that since last Friday. Call them, they 'll simply say my order is yet to ship, and can't offer any more info.

I also ordered the Huawei Ascend W1 for N10,500 last Friday. I must have been among the first to order at that price because it remained at that price thru out Monday. On tuesday they posted a N12k price for it. Today Thursday, I got a brief email saying order cancelled, item unavailable!
They 4got to mention the money I already paid for it!

The main areas they fail woefully are; (1) in the inventory management - it should be a simple matter to auto-update stock as orders are placed, so that you dont tell somebody who has paid that you are out of stock. Imagine the resources involved in resolving tens if not hundreds of such situations.

(2). in order processing; they promised delivery within 5 working days. But 5 days will come and go without delivery. Worse still, you dont receive any information, even when you go out of your way to seek it either on the portal, or by calling them up. There are many other subtle ways you get the feeling that these guys can't give you reliable services.

I have had many years experience ordering stuff all over the world, including of recent, China, both personal, commercial and industrial items, so I thought if some Nigerians have mustered the courage and resources to start a mail order business right here, why not give them a try. I guess I 've been too optimistic and too quick to trust our Naija.
I 've read some positive testimonies, but quality has to be systemic, not a few flashes in the pan.

@Mods; I wish you could make a thread of this my post. So many people may be in the same boat.

@omoharry and rubi96. You have described jumia perfectly. My first stint @ online shopping was with jumia n I hated myself. I had to stylishly return one of their blouses which was so light n substandard (I could use the blouse to sieve pap). To collect my refund was another pain.

It was at that point that I gave up on online shopping

same experience as mine.

they have been claiming interswitch declined since monday.

We exchanged correspondences and they flashed me and when i called back,i was informed my payment was just confirmed this morning and huawei ascend i ordered for is out stock.even if i have issued a cheque,it would have cleared since Tuesday afternoon, because i paid thru my card at 9:50am monday.

I asked them to do a mail to that effect (as evidence incase of inquiries).

I am giving them 24hrs ultimatum to make refund anyway.

I have only purchased twice from Konga. The first item was delayed by some days but when it arrived it was in good order and exactly what I wanted. I have recently purchased another item (on Thursday). Today being Sunday it has been two working days since I purchased it so we are still on schedule. It is currently under warehouse process on their site. Still, because of my first experience, they still appear to have some ways to go before they reach the machine like efficiency of sites like Amazon.

I'll update when they deliver my goods or if they fail to deliver on time.

Konga:
I ordered a gown for my wife 2 months back and all I got was silence. Till now, there has been no info on that even after calling their customer care.
I ordered a perfume about 10 days ago and till now order not delivered.

Jumia:
Bought various items which got delivered but the quality of all goods were below standard.Products are also too expensive. I have a perfume that sells for 6k everywhere but goes for 12k on jumia.
