My dear I advice u let go that mathematics and pursue the mech eng. Studying maths is like studying history in nigeria.

NeuroBoss: If it is about the money involved then compare this:
Chukwudi started spare part importation business in 2002 with a #50 000 seed money from his uncle. Today, he imports 40 containers monthly which are even sold out on the high sea. He makes at least 1 million naira profit on each container sold. He lives in a Lekki semi-detached duplex and have a range of exotic cars. Which Engineer or Doctor could beat that?
tell them oh... Its not by working for shell or chevron that u are made. Entrepreneurship is the key. I know of an engineer that got a contract from the nigerian army to design an equipment for them. I no wan mention the amount involved. oil company engineers are redundant Office engineers... Talking from experience... The contractors and consultants are the main ones chopping dat money Lol...#no beefing here oh.... For the guy who is aspiring to be a lecturer, kudos to you... I'm impressed...

bros, unilorin maths department na die o, if you are convinced you are very sound academically then you can give it a trial but if otherwise o boi yabatech tins o, op it wasnt maths or stat that made you to drop from fac. of engineerin. if it is you had beta leave ilorin for good. only geniuses and master cramers get good grade in maths.

Many years ago I got an offer to study Mathematics in UI which i turned down because I was told by people with little knowledge of the potentials of a Maths Graduate that i was going to end up a teacher. (which was not true). Ended up studying Electrical and Electronics Engr. at Yabatech, and looking back, I wish I had studied Mathematics at UI.

From a personal experience, i will strongly advise you to go for Bsc Mathematics (UniIlorin) if you have the aptitude for it. Maths graduates are well sought after in banking, insurance, IT, business and data analytics in retail sector and many more. Just ensure you are one of the best graduating students in your class

ndidibabe: Irrespective of the course? Your suggestion doesn't make any sense to me. Any engineering course in a Polytechnic is better than Yoruba, CRK, International relation, English, Education and the likes in the University.

They too make good money esp if they are working for tight coys like julius berger becos companies like such never run out of contract
The only thing I fear about civil engr is that if u happen to find ur self in a company that doesn't get contracts that much, u may end up hving pay cuts every now and then or even being laid off

Exmay: Pls do direct entry to a university. The fight is definitely on between HND owners and B.sc holders but we don't know what the outcome will be. So kindly err on the safe side by joining the current champions when u still can. Experience/exposure will keep coming for the remaining part of your life... Cheers
good point...thanks al0t

ogtavia:

Well,it depends on ur grade,d fact dt u have ND 2 doesn't mean u can go straight for masters,u must have an HND,then a PGD,then a masters degree,to av a PGD takes about 2 years, then an HND takes about 2 years as well, all in all, assuming u have consecutive admission and barring all strikes,in 4 years u will have obtained ur masters degree,if u decide to take a direct entry and come to the university, you have four years of study, one year of nysc, then straight to masters,so my brother, its ur choice.
thank al0t....i d0 appreciate
