I was just pointing to the contradiction in your earlier statement. Why are you complaining of lack of quality in DM position when according to you we have always succeeded with lack of quality?
My point is wherever there is poor quality we need to improve on it and go for world class talent. The argument that we always succeeded with low quality is misleading as there are so many more top quality teams to combat now. The EPL is no longer a 1 or 2 horse race

we may go for someone who's not even flashy, just a fine tackler with ability to drop off the ball decently to the next man. the good thing about such players is that they more often than not, pack a ferocious shot as well... which is always a welcome addition.
Nigel de Jong will serve us just fine, even its for this season. we need to steady our ship first after last season's capitulation; before we start sailing. I will also welcome Vidal if we can get him, the squad quality depth can only be a good thing

Michael Carrick has been successful so far but we all know he doesn't get here and there or throw mud in our opponent's faces. he hardly inspires fear of any kind, just a quiet effective guy: still we had a rock-like five behind! please don't ever for a second underestimate the experience & leadership qualities that has been lost with Evra, Rio, Vidic & van Der Sar.
now, we have 'potential' @ the back. its telling to say that Rafael & Evans are our most senior (experienced) defenders. the logical thing to do now is to 'change that clog in our wheel' first. Carrick is 33? Fletcher is just being honored as it stands, so why no effect that change for the greater good? before upgrading 'your transmission or brakes'

If i was broke i would go your route, but since i am United and one of the biggest boys out there i won't be cutting and sewing or chopping and changing. I would upgrade transmission,change tires and fix any other issues immediately.....in fact if need be i will just go by the dealership and get another brand new car with a more powerful and reliable engine. Are u happy with ur auto analogy now?

This club is not broke, i don't see why we need to make improvements in a piecemeal fashion. By the time u buy a DM this season, a CB next season and they all settle in RVP and Rooney will be too old to contribute effectively then we need to start looking for another striker, by the time that one settles in Van Gaal will be planning to retire...........u see the trend?

If we decide that the problem we have right now is a CM,DM and CB then lets buy 2 or maybe 3 class players and not waste the last productive years of RVP and LVG replacing "flat tires"

TBH, me thinks this DM issue should be downplayed a lil bit.

I am telling you Rojo will be the next darling of UTD fans - quote me on this any day. He is the sort of player that can raise the temperature of an arena with one crunching tackle . He is not short on confidence and by the time he gets familiar with this new environment, we will see how he will make his 'larger than life' presence felt. I foresee that young man taking over from where Vidic stopped; he will be made captain!

I don't choose to live in fantasy. if we had all those money(to spend) like the board goads us to believe, why have we never won a single to class talent (for about 6seasons now) when other teams compete. its not like we don't have the allure & all that. my 2cent says we don't have the *money* luxury.

we've missed them both because its been regression in quality since Keane left. they complemented each other & they both did it with their backs in. however, Keane's presence was enough menace even to put off Vieira - as stoutly built as the Frenchman was. to replace such command, poise, confidence & quality is never easy. opposing players will think twice before trying to bully Kagawa or Mata or Januzaj if such a presence is also on that pitch

Not really. The guy is actually not better than what we have in the middle of defence right now. No point being fierce if you lack discipline which he does without great quality to boot. Total panic buy. Atleast he adds bodies i guess.

our biggest issue is our injury curse. we can sign the whole madrid players & barca players, of what use would they be if they cannot be fit to play. as we speak, we have 8 or 9 first team players injured & that has been the case for more than 7 seasons now.

according to injuryroom, this has been our record since 06/07. the importance of the player injured is put in the bracket

2008/09 - 7th worst (3rd worst)
2009/10 - 3rd worst (2nd worst)
2010/11 - 7th worst (5th worst)
