Of course there are women who spend on their partners but the sad fact is that they are in an ever increasing minority in Nigeria. But what I usually notice is that most women(Niaja) have to be head over heels in love with you before they can even consider spending money on you

Such girls do exist but they are few. A Nigerian girl did that to me in Ghana during my studies but I did not follow up due to the fact that I have something on my side, and then, I was dating someone else. I think I would have respected her more if she had expressed her feelings towards me from the beginning instead of her trying to buy me.

Generally speaking, I tend to go a little overboard with gift-giving. I pick up on needs/wants rather easily, and I've noticed that I consciously aim for [my gifts] being among the best gifts received, which is rather pathetic actually. Additionally, it's almost like I have to "one-up" myself. I know I have a slight problem on my hands with all that, but at least gifts are reciprocal

The BF has a similar attitude. I feel small thoughtful surprises and meaningful gestures are far more valuable than a material gift. That being said, circumstance permitting, I can't understand why gift-giving should become a one-sided undertaking in any serious relationship.

Haha no. My uncle helped this man save his company. So he invited all of us to a dinner where he gave my dad and my uncle a Rolex and a cigar. My father has been obsessed ever since and kept on buying Rolexs. And there was one he didn't like and he said I could have it.
