I Feel Sleepy Once I Begin To Read. Why? by Sagytarius(m): 11:54pm On Oct 27, 2014
Is this nature or what? And why is it treating me this way?

I can be very active and wide awake doing some other stuffs; buh the moment I open my book and begin to read, I develop sleepy eyes after a page or two. angry

I was so frustrated this afternoon that I had to lick grounded pepper just to stay awake and read.

Though it worked, buh I guess this could lead to ulcer if I continue this way. Any other tip on how to overcome this mess? Whah causes it btw? angry

I think you're right: I get quite stressed out. Buh my question is this: of all the engagements (both stressful and less stressful tasks), why must the sleep choose to come when I'm reading? Why not when I'm playing Pool Billiard on my tablet?
Re: I Feel Sleepy Once I Begin To Read. Why? by Nobody: 12:53am On Oct 28, 2014
you dont need to worry much. Just make sure you sleep well, wake up and take coffee or Lipton, or even coke and you'll be gpod to go for Hours.

Hi there, I couldn't help but laugh at the part you mentioned ground pepper lol. There are ways you can avoid sleeping when reading:
- play music
- take breaks in between, maybe eat a crunchy snack
- get up and walk around or even watch TV for a few minutes
- pour cold water on your face
- have a glass of chilled water/juice to sip on while reading

I hope you find these tips helpful, best of luck smiley

My brother this is not a health problem, u just don't like school, that leaves you with two options.

1. Quit school and start business

2. Leave the comfort of your house and find a not so quiet environment to read and do not carry your gadgets with u.
Whenever you feel sleepy, please sleep and continue reading when u wake up, works for me all the time, don't be too hard on yourself

U need DISCIPLINE bro, abi u no get serious friends wey go fit motivate u?

You have to find the reading style that suits you.

Its still about visual rearing in Nigeria, where we learn via a book. And schools help make it the way it is. But sometimes someone comes along who can't learn that way.

Most people will call him lazy or dumb.

But it's the culture trend of the current school structure that created the lack

My friend, learning for you Involves audio visuals. Meaning you prefer to see it taught by someone actually doing it not by reading the manuals. When u read you fall asleep.

You might need to train yourself to read more or you try learning via tutorial videos and course.

I am guessing ur more of a hands on technical person.

You are not alone in thiss grin
I think its just the way we program our minds. If you believe and become determined to read up without dozing off, I think you can. Coupled with when you are faced with certain challenges.

After our first MBBS result came out and I saw the way people were asked to withdraw from the faculty or repeat the class, omo body tell me.. Lol
