Oh.. My bad.. Yeah they are loads.. Weight gain, moon face, muscle wasting, muscle myopathy, adrenal insufficiency due to sudden withdrawal that could cause death, hyperhlycemia, glycosuria and it could precipitate diabetes mellitus in predisposed patients, cushingoid syndrome, immunosupression and susceptibilty to infections, gastric ulcerations, it also affects bone development, oral thrush, mania, activation of tuberculosis in patients under remission and so many more.. Most of the side effects though are due to high doses of steroids over a prolonged period of time.. Nd it is usually with oral steroids so inhaled steroids are relatively safe except for the thrush that can easily be prevented..

pls can u explain this in a layman s understanding; muscle myopathy, hyperglycemia, glycosuria, Cushingoid syndrome, mania, etc, thanks

For those of us who live in Naija and as long as the Harmattan season is still in existence and also some other factors which triggers the attack, you will still have challenges in managing asthma.

Been living with it since I was 2 months old....have been able to map out some trigger factors and still do so.
My trigger factors are stress, emotions, catarrh, dust......these are just major ones for me.
I use ventolin tab, piriton, predisolone in cases of chest pain..not on daily basis o. and I feed on fresh vegies and fruits and also green tea esp moringa
I also carry about my inhaler just incase of aan emergency

Trevor is over rated and if it has been healing asthma, the news would have gone viral. I wouldn't condemn Trevo as I know it's generally good for the body and could help your body supplement or lost nutrients and ensure well treats of the tissues and cells. This could help reduce the asthma because most people suffer due to poor management and food like yam, bread, cold weather, dust and perfume could trigger it. I don't like to see people sick. I have had relatives who suffer from this and my uncle is a doctor.

U are mostly right dude. Trevo is not tailored specifically for asthma but for general improved and sound health. However u have to consider that most reported cases of healed asthma were actually cases of proper drug/disease management. There are still conditions that may cause a relapse e.g teargas/Snipper. So there's no proven absolute cure yet.

Consequently, I wouldn't call any therapy that would better manage asthma over-rated.

Muscle myopathy will simply cause muscular weakness and you'll easily feel fatigued on exertion.. Hyperglycemia is high blood glucose and sustained(long term hyperglycemia) is indicative of diabetes, glycosuria is sugar/glucose in the urine and is indicative of renal/kidney damage, cushingoid syndrome is like a constellation of symptoms like moon face(round face), trunkal obesity( big belle), no clear demarcation between the face and neck and deposition of fat in various parts of the body, mania is an emotional disturbance( like over-paraing(vexing)) but this is usually seen in people with a family history tho..

Yeah.. Its not contagious but there is genetic predisposition.. If someone in your family has it there is a higher probability that a family member will..

Asthma and bronchitis are usually reversed, because most times people are confused about these two diseases. The main reason is these two cases are reversed because they are two conditions that include breathing and respiration of the patient. In both conditions, respiratory or bronchial tubes become very inflamed. Although many similarities, asthma and bronchitis are actually two different diseases.

Various causes

Bronchitis is often caused by an underlying infection, like a respiratory infection RTI already. Unfortunately, bronchitis can be a lifelong disorder. When this happens, then known as chronic bronchitis. Type of bronchitis is usually curable.

The cause of asthma, on the other hand, is not as clear as it should be. According to medical research because it is associated with the environment, such as smoking, either first hand or passive. Moreover, genetics plays an important role in the etiology of asthma. Unlike bronchitis curable, asthma is permanent and can not be cured. It can be treated but not cured.

Different symptoms

The symptoms of bronchitis are, namely, fatigue, chest pain, cough, fever, mucus production and wheezing.

The symptoms of asthma, on the other hand, excessive coughing, chest tightness, difficulty sleeping, shortness of breath, which is the medical term given the difficulties in breathing, and wheezing.

There are lots of developments in the science world towards health in both curative and preventive measures.
While many may frown at supplements, I can however tell you that many that have suffered from asthma are well now because they used these supplements.....I'm talking of Trevo.
Get the bottle, it goes for 12k outside: dosage, take 3 caps daily for adults, this dosage doesn't apply to kids ......well as a distributor, you'd get it way cheaper from me javascript:void(0);and when it works, kindly share it here. Pls note that 1 bottle may or may not be enough, it depends on the stage of the asthma.

Top Herbs That Can Help You Get Rid of Asthma
1. German Chamomile (Matricaria recuita)
One of the best and most effective ways to prevent asthma attacks is to use German chamomile. German chamomile has antihistamine properties that help fight off allergic reactions and asthma attacks. [3] To get the best results from German chamomile, make sure to consume it at least twice a day.
2. Turmeric (Curcuma longa)
For centuries, Chinese have used turmeric to alleviate the symptoms of asthma. [4] Aside from alleviating the symptoms of asthma, turmeric can also be used to treat a wide variety of diseases like fever, cold, flu and many more. Turmeric has carminative, antibacterial, stimulant, astringent and antiseptic properties.
3. Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis)
Studies have indicated that hyssop has anti-inflammatory properties on lung tissue and thus has potential as an asthma treatment. It also has antiseptic, antibacterial and antispasmodic properties, which may assist in reducing the distressing symptoms of asthma. In addition to that, hyssop is considered beneficial with other respiratory infections like bronchitis, phlegm, pleurisy and lung disorders. When using hyssop, however, make sure to use it for a short span of time since excessive usage of such herb can possibly lead to toxicity.
4. Licorice
Traditionally, licorice has been used to restore breathing and calm the air passageways. [5] Allergic asthma in particular has been found to be linked to pulmonary inflammation. Studies extracting the compounds present in licorice have discovered that they not only reduced this inflammation but also promote the necessary lung cell cultures to respond to antigen stimulation. [6] Licorice is a potent herbal remedy that should be moderately used to avoid unexpected side effects like headaches and hypertension.
5. Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara)
Medicinally used as a cough suppressant, coltsfoot is also considered helpful for those recovering from asthma attacks. A study on 66 cases of asthmatics was conducted where 35 of which were given 15g of coltsfoot for 10 weeks. Results showed that even minimal airway obstruction present among sufferers in the convalescent stage can be reversed. This is crucial to prevent more severe conditions like emphysema.
6. Grindelia
An expectorant herb, grindelia is also known as an effective anti-asthmatic herb. It is probably why it is included in the 1983 British Herbal Pharmacopoeia for bronchial asthma as well as an official part of the 1882-1926 United States Pharmacopoeia and the National Formulary from 1926-1960. Its dried leaves and flowering tops are often found in natural formulations for asthma.
7. Gingko Biloba
For the most part, gingko biloba is used as a memory enhancer. However Gingko biloba is also considered a good antihistamine and has anti-inflammatory properties as well. Doctors have found that extracts of this ancient medicinal plant help prevent asthma attacks triggered by allergens and exercise. [1] They have found that appropriate dosage of gingko works by inhibiting the platelet activating factor (PAF) to reduce airway hypersensitivity of asthma sufferers.
8. Butterbur
The Mayo Clinic reports that this native European perennial plant has a chemical known as petasin which inhibits the molecules involved in the airway inflammatory response during asthma attacks– histamine and leukotriene. This leukotriene inhibiting property of butterbur extracts is responsible behind promising researches that suggest this herb to be an inhibitor of allergic disorders. [9] Likewise, a 2004 study in Germany has discovered that when butterbur extracts were given to sufferers for at least 2 months, both incidence and severity of asthma attacks decreased by half and 80-90 percent respectively.
9. Slippery Elm
Growing abundantly in North America, the bark of slippery elm is thought to be effective in dealing with different sorts of skin ailments. Though more scientific studies are yet to be conducted to confirm the effectiveness of slippery elm in helping people with asthma, preliminary studies conclude that slippery elm bark can really be useful. When taken as tea or capsule, slippery elm helps in preventing bronchial spasms which are normally associated with asthma. In fact, it is highly recommended to people diagnosed with respiratory conditions like bronchitis and cough.
10. Garlic
You will be surprised to know that garlic, which is readily available in your kitchen, is actually considered an excellent remedy for asthma. Though often used as flavor enhancer in culinary, garlic has proved itself to be worthy in managing asthma. Research shows that this herb contains active compounds that may help cure and eliminate symptoms that are associated with many respiratory and cardiovascular disorders. Garlic is known to contain twice as much Vitamin C than tomatoes.
The Vitamin C content of garlic helps in neutralizing free radicals that contribute to the contraction of airway smooth muscles which only aggravate the condition of asthma sufferers. Second, its Vitamin C content helps in breaking down histamine and in preventing the release of histamines out of the body. Histamine is one of the major contributors to allergic reactions and inflammation experienced by those diagnosed with asthma. Third, garlic helps in stimulating an increased production of prostacyclin, a compound that keeps the lung air passages open. This results to easy breathing in asthmatic patients.
